Omg! I never thought about a joystick cap! I tend to be rough with my sticks cause I'm huge and strong and play "rage" games. My center rubber on the left just feel out a little bit ago and a call would be perfect! Thanks dude!
Mine looks exactly like it did when it came out of the box. Technically I've added a screen protector/diffusor, as I hate glare on screens, but you can't really tell it's even there. I also swapped the nvme to a buffet one, but obviously that isn't visible either.
Needless to say, I don't care about the looks of my financial things.
Mine is the stock unit, in a purple snap-on protective case, but the back of the unit (underneath the protective case) has my username permanently etched into the back and the etching filled with enamel paint, just in case I lose it or have to prove it's mine.
This stems from when some jerk tried to steal my childhood Game Boy, but was foiled by the fact that I'd written my name on the unit behind the batteries and thereby proved "their" Game Boy was mine.
Generally, no, because it's a capacitive sensor and most plastics don't conduct electricity. You'd need to find a pair that says it supports the sensors. Mine don't, for instance, but I never used that feature anyway.
Please excuse the dirty screen! Atomic Purple case with holographic buttons from deckbuttons.com and accent skins from dbrand. I also usually have the Killswitch case on, but this was taken just after I had completed all the surgery to replace the shell.
Yes I love the retro look. I'm happy that transparent electronics are making a bit of a comeback.
I'd say it's worth doing, although It was a pretty involved install process. I don't know if I would have done it if I wasn't also replacing the screen at the same time - it's basically a complete teardown.

FishFace@piefed.social · 9 pts · 24d
But have you considered installing a different OS every day and posting about which one you're going to install next?
PalmTreeIsBestTree@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 24d
Nah but mine is the rare white limited edition one so uhh it’s sorta different
ThunderChunk@lemmy.dbzer0.com · 19 pts · 25d
Mine's pretty generic.

I like it!
Kess8a@lemy.lol · 13 pts · 24d
Pretty basic all things considered, I'm hoping to get new sticks for it once the stock ones go bad
MimicJar@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 23d
When do the stock ones go bad? I've got 500+ hours of playtime on mine and they still feel like new.

Mine was basic, but well loved and sadly lost to a disaster 😢 RIP my deck. Go give your steamdecks a little attention!

I have a stand for mine so that I don't have to lean it against my cock.

OOOOOH LOVE THEM BUTTONS
SatansMaggotyCumFart@piefed.world · 6 pts · 25d
How did you change that screen?
Localhorst86@feddit.org · 18 pts · 25d
Not OP, but presumably they used a Decky Plugin called CSS Loader. You can use it to costumize the layout.
SatansMaggotyCumFart@piefed.world · 4 pts · 25d
Cool.
I’ll have to give it a try.
That’s really clean.
TheMinions@lemmy.dbzer0.com · 2 pts · 25d
Decky Plugins, I’d wager.

Holy shit I need that pink skin (stop it). Where can I get it?
HotsauceHurricane@lemmy.world · 4 pts · 24d
If i remember correctly its Dbrand
natecox@programming.dev · 5 pts · 24d
Oh. Nevermind then.
HotsauceHurricane@lemmy.world · 4 pts · 24d
I messaged the person who sold me the steamdeck and they said they got the skin on Etsy.

I can't speak for OP, but I have third-party joystick caps on my Steamdeck and the touch sensors still work fine.
nocturne@slrpnk.net · 4 pts · 25d
Steam Deck is bone stock, unless you look inside and I replaced the hard drive with a higher capacity one.
Estebiu@lemmy.dbzer0.com · 1 pts · 25d
Same. What size ssd did you put?

Ahh atomic purple. My one true love.
moonlight@fedia.io · 2 pts · 25d
Mine has a transparent purple shell swap (I kept the original buttons), and a decksight screen upgrade.
Carl@anarchist.nexus · 1 pts · 24d
I’ve thought about doing a transparent purple shell swap. Very reminiscent of the old GameBoy Color case.

My wife would love this one!
My setup is just the OLED with the Satisfye grip case. Peak simplicity for my little emudeck.

I approve of Kuromi.
