BLOUNTVILLE, Tenn. (WJHL) — A Thursday night Sullivan County Commission work session that was called to discuss the use of Flock cameras in Sullivan County turned heated after a county commissioner called for the public hanging of Flock Safety’s CEO, Garrett Langley.
What started as a civil discussion turned heated following those comments made by Commissioner Joe Carr.
“I believe that Flock right now is one of the most hated companies in America,” Carr stated during the meeting. “They are one of the most corrupt companies in America. And, quite frankly, sir, I don’t think we can make America great again without hanging your CEO publicly for treason.”
Your ticket to the cool zone is nonrefundable and nonrevokable, enjoy the ride!
I am kind of stunned that he said the above bolded quote, in person, to the face of a Flock representative.
Cowabunga it is then.

I'm sure the quote was taken out of context. Why don't we fly the Flock ceo out to clarify things?

I'd like to buy that man a beer. Unfortunately that would mean going to Tennessee, but still.

Tennessee is a stunning state. The politicians in it though...

Oh but when I say it...

Yep.
As best I can tell, .world policy is that you're only allowed to advocate for death if someone writes a news article about it, and then you post that article.

I live around Blountville. This doesn't surprise me a bit. When they first put up a speed camera on the highway someone shot it. They fixed the camera and it was shot again.

Ah ok, because my other comment was moderated, it was saying that a hanging can be done properly such that it instantly snaps the neck, severs the spinal cord.
... and then my original comment also suggested that it would be a gosh darned shame if the hanging was not done properly.
Lets see if this comment remains unmoderated, and we can thus determine that .world only allows for descriptions of execution methods that are instant and non sarcastic.

And?
shani66@ani.social · 2 pts · 4d
Hanging, when done correctly, is almost immediate death as well.

You should probably repost this on an instance where I can publicly agree with the sentiment.
sp3ctr4l@lemmy.dbzer0.com · 5 pts · 4d
I am pretty sure I have.
EDIT
Others have reposted it to yet more comms as well, it seems.

Let's see now...
HEY, I AGREE WITH THE SENTIMENT IN OP'S ARTICLE!

Of course only a Republican, who BROUGHT FLOCK TO POWER, would be so crass and hypocritical.

You probably can't in Tennessee without legal changes or a convoluted set of court cases.

I remember first hearing about the rumblings of privacy issues with Flock - but could someone summarize or point to a good summary as to the why?
There are a metric shit-ton of companies spying on and tracking everyone and reselling that data, etc. Why is Flock in the crosshairs right now?

You know the database and AI 'enhanced', Minority Report style surveillance systems Palantir lets Israel use, to pinpoint track and murder Palestinians?
Flock is that, for the rest of us.
Gaza was the beta test.

I can think of quite a few more, if we want to make this a party.

Nah.
Personally I say we bring back drawing and quartering.
Publically, of course.
What, does it being public make it worse somehow?
Who cares about your public reputation, you'd be dead afterwards.

We should bring back boiling people in oil. We can do it during the Superbowl halftime show. Brought to you by Crisco!

Combine with the brazen bull.
Boil em alive, in oil, in the bull.
A sacrifice to the 'line go up' god.

The president is out there allegedly joking about committing genocide (military destruction of a civilization is an act of genocide if you didn't know btw), this guy can allegedly joke about hanging an unliked CEO
Etterra@discuss.online · 3 pts · 4d
We can't be sure they got the right guy unless we see them do it in public. Otherwise they could just put up an AI video and say they did it, or hang an innocent mailroom guy and claim it was him.
