You didn't even need that, technically both Christians and Jews aren't supposed to eat shrimp. Most Christian sects excuse it away in interesting ways but still you're not supposed to.

Jews and Christians are perfectly compatible with very minor lifestyle adjustments and both of them look old enough to not care about disappointing their parents.
I'm pretty sure that's the point of the comic. He is a cartoonishly specific type that this woman is looking for, even the absurd aspect of him having a lobster head that we are shown most people do not have (obviously), and he discards her as a prospect over potentially superficial differences in religious belief.
I mean, yeah, but if he wants to raise kids in Judaism, she'd have to convert. It's not an... insurmountable hill, I have family friends like that, but it does certainly make it tough.
