Those things are pretty strong, they don't just break when falling over. Chances are the cyclist would still lose. Better replace it with a landmine, or something else that really explodes when getting hit.

A claymore would do the trick!

PattyMcB@lemmy.world · 16 pts · 16d (5 replies)

Ackshully, the explosive in claymore mines is C4, so they're pretty impact resistant. They let us Marines play with them, so they've gotta handle mistreatment.

Your description makes it sound like they're edible as well.

lagg_mine@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 16d

I'm pretty sure C4 is not very toxic, I think it even makes you a little high!

notabot@piefed.social · 6 pts · 16d

Just got to rig up a lever to the trigger and you might even stop the car before impact. I imagine that'd give the bike a bit of a shove too, so maybe you need one on the other side too, to balance the forces.

Ok but I don't think propane tanks are as fragile & explosive as they suppose.

Eheran@lemmy.world · 4 pts · 16d

Correct.

LoreSoong@startrek.website · 20 pts · 16d (1 reply)

Pressure relief valve needs to be sealed so it can really go boom.

Eheran@lemmy.world · 5 pts · 16d

Realistically nothing happens. The pressure relief valve does not matter, as the track itself has to fail from the impact. Nobody is going to uniformly squeeze it to build pressure to make it rupture, where the valve would open. A fire cooking it for minutes means you are either already burned crispy or simply not near anymore. But in that case at least we get a nice explosion.

But really nothing happens, there is nothing to crush it. A bike will just give way and the tank flies off. You need either a ton of inertia behind it or 2 vehicles pancaking you.

I always loved in Snowcrash the key antagonist drove around on a motorbike with a side car with a ex-soviet nuke wired to a heart beat monitor. Security companies spent their time not trying to stop him but trying to stop his numerous enemies from trying to kill him

Sure its going to be a bit of a fizzle when the tritium decays but still gonna make one hell of a hole in the road if someone dares to hit him.

M.A.D.D. isn't just for insane world leaders anymore!

DmMacniel@feddit.org · 8 pts · 16d (6 replies)

What's the second D stands for? Isnt it usually just M.A.D doctrine?

over_clox@lemmy.world · 14 pts · 16d
  • M.A.D.D. > Mothers Against Drunk Drivers
  • D.A.M.M. > Drunks Against Mad Mothers

Disclaimer: I did not coin either term.

Boozilla@sh.itjust.works · 7 pts · 16d (2 replies)

"Mutually assured destruction doctrine".

Or maybe I conflated it with mothers against drunk driving.
