Giving him a general pardon and not for specifics was the mistake. Alternate history for Nixon going to trial or any other course other than the one he took is a wild ride. Even if Trump copied Nixon by resigning early so Vance could pardon him, he’d still be facing various state charges. (And he could always be extradited outside the US for war crimes.)

No, not a chance. They need to make these criminals accountable, and if they can’t, they need to invent new laws to lock them away forever (no joke, I don’t care how unconstitutional ot is, never stopped the current administration). Things need to change, this has to be a lesson.
I doubt it will happen though. 4 seconds after winning, if the dems get power, they will once again discover decorum and will claim it to be their most precious asset.
But even then I won’t despair, because at least a slightly less criminal enterprise will be in control and we can vote for better ones next time.
This of course will never happen though, because instead of incremental changes for good in the right direction, moron Americans will fall for the next “one weird trick” when a single election doesn’t solve every problem in the world.
