Yeah I remember officers having their careers ended for criticizing Bush. Word was that troops were prohibited from that type of activity, officers especially so.
But if news from my small city is any indicator, I don't feel optimistic. A local mosque applied for rezoning to expand on their own property, and maga sheep showed up to the mosque's meeting with the city. They bleated for several hours about sharia law being imposed in a place that's about 99% christian. They were whipped into a frenzy by Abbott, Self, and others and are ecstatic to have something they think resembles a cause.
Obviously those morons don't represent the whole state, but the magat politicians are having success with their fear campaigns as usual.
I think he's only holding off the ground invasion until after the mid-terms. Not because it would work, mind you, but because that bald zombie fuck, kegsbreath, and the other yes-man goons tell him it's a good idea.
They know ground troops now would fuck them in the mid-terms, but they're itching to do it. When it turns into another Iraq/Afghanistan he won't be around long enough to care. All of them will be focused on fucking up everything they can before they take the money and run.
Bigger picture, I suspect the events of BND took place after Doomsday. That could account for the Staten Island stuff and help explain Peter's absence from DD until he gets pulled into that fight.
Great movie, really well done all around. Writing, acting, cinematography, music, cgi...the webslinging was excellent. I want a lot more Peter and Frank!
I'm not yet sold on Sadie Sink as JG, but I'm open to the idea. Her going hard in the paint evil and then having the quick turnaround was the weakest part of the movie for me. I know they were showing May's positive impact and how it carries on--which is a great legacy for a character we all love--but it comes at the expense of both believability and JG's development. Her story going forward and how SS portrays it will decide whether it works.
Excellent points. Makes me think of the old hair in the soup hangup, which had less to do with the hair itself (gross enough) and more about what else is getting into the soup? (disgusting).

Certain movie scenes. When I was a kid I watched Back to the Future a lot, and the scenes with the DeLorean always did it.
Also certain memories when they come at opportune times.
