I believe the headline says yearly, not one time. Also this is money from billionaires. You're right, this plan isn't perfect, so the billionaires should keep it instead.

I heard that when I was a kid, and it may have been true then. There's no way this is true anymore. It would mean you make an average of under 30k per year for your working life. True for some I'm sure, but no way it's most. A billion tho...

That was the original intent, yes. Then they were tainted by greed and now most of them are in place before anyone lives in the neighborhood, so owners have no choice if they want to live there. Many are owned and operated by private companies that profit off petty fines like this. I once got a letter threatening a fine because I parked my car in my driveway and it had expired tabs. This was during early covid when the DMV was slower than usual. I almost lost my shit.

Check out this episode of Last week tonight if you wanna get more upset.

This makes me feel old. I would prefer that over the typical BS. I'm 37.

I'm currently single and have been for most of my life, and I think this may be one reason why - I don't have as strong of a desire for that kind communication so I'm more ok being alone than seemingly the average person.

I'm not worried about this as like you stated, people are all very different and there's someone for everyone. I just find it interesting to hear the logic behind people's social behavior that I don't identify with.
