"In reality high profits tend much more to raise the price of work than high wages."

But that quote is from famously woke Adam Smith in his wokeism opus magnum Wealth of Nations.

i will not say that Steam has a lot of pro-consumer functionality. but in this particular case, the thing that sony is being critizied for is something Valve has already done, 20 years ago

This meme is a pet peeve because sony is doing exactly the same thing that valve did when they released steam, of going digital-only and tying game ownership to digital accounts.

i don't think this is true.

the sin of gluttony come from the logismoi of gastrimargia, which means "madness of the stomache" and it always was about wasteful consumption of food.

the hording wealth and resources is also a sin, but the very specfic "greed"

Leverage buyouts are just a symptom of the problems in the system

In theory, leverage buyouts make perfect sense, kinda like a mortgage. You get a loan to buy something with that same as a collateral.

The fact that these usually ends in worse conditions for everyone is not because leverage buyouts are the problem, but the private ownership. Toys r' us should have been owned by the workers, man utd by the fans, as so forth

Yeah, it is so people think that the ai companies are seeing the next, not-yet-public versions and are scared, they must be so powerful, right?

why do you even need to have your washer connected to the internet at all?

i think it is more:

  • sillicon valley elites should be in charge of the government, and the people should never question the new government, which should get all the money. that new government will be built by sillicon valley enginers and ai, instead of focusing on apps.
  • the people only are good for the army but will get basic necesites (I think, that is what the "free email is not enough" point means)
  • yes religion
  • yes eugenics

I have to counter this. Yes, the 5 books are amazing, top notch low fantasy. 4 and 5 start to lose the plot a bit, but still good. But at this point it is unlikely that we will get an ending, and the 5th book ends with massive cliffhangersand unresolved plots. Hard for me to recommend it to someone until/unless it gets finished.

You see, unprivileged people are too busy working for a living to try to change the system that destroys the world while keeping most people too busy and exhausted to change the system. This is of course, the fault of the people that tries to change the system, apparently.
