European dishwashers seem to be designed vastly differently to American ones.

Water efficiency goals specifically; I've seen consumption of 7 US gallons (26.5 litres) per cycle called "eco" on American dishwashers, where mine (Miele) claims 12 litres on the heaviest cycle.

The manual for mine calls out connecting to hot water as a way to increase efficiency if you have hot water with a >1 COP, mentioning solar or heat pump cylinders.

A professional I asked noted though that for protein-heavy residues (like egg), hot water could bake it on before the dishwasher starts cleaning it.

There's even an option in the overflow menu labelled "Seems like AI slop".

I'm struggling with who that's there for, or how egregious the slop needs to be to warrant its use. Damn near the entire site (text and images both) feels pretty slop-tastic, if I report it all what's even going to be left?

First result on Home Depot's website for wallpaper was $2/ft².

Wikipedia says $1 notes are 6.14×2.61in, almost exactly $9/ft².

I think we can reasonably say that's not absurdly more expensive, if you're sufficiently committed to the bit.

I was downloading episodes of Jackass back in about 2001, using I think it would have been eMule.

You'd get a 240p MPEG-1 file, and you were happy with that.

Hilariously, for people who didn't own computers that could handle playing videos from CD-Rs, as my PC's video card had composite output I used to make VHS tapes from those files. And then put the adhesive label sheet for the tape cassette through the printer.

Y'know, normal stuff.

Sounds like one of our cats.

He's nearly 7 and has been with us since he was a kitten, only started getting in the bed with us this year.

Same thing though, has to be invited in every time.

HP Enterprise (servers, storage, switches) still do maintain that. You want an original spec sheet and list of part numbers for a ProLiant Gen2 from 2000 (when that was still a Compaq product, long before HP bought them), or firmware and drivers for the same? That's all still there.

Some of that might require an account to download (which is a whole other conversation), but the important enterprise stuff persists.

HP Inc (workstations, laptops, printers, monitors, etc) are the problem children here.

From reading a bit more through various linked posts, I don't think they downloaded the artwork for the claimed $10, but scraped the site for a list of URLs from which to download it.

There are a number of references to the "dataset" (implied to just be this list) becoming useless if Cara were to implement stricter rate limiting.

Royal Canin seem to have taken the approach that the cats' enjoyment of the product takes precedence over mine. Fair enough I guess, but it's not really a joy to handle when I've just rolled out of bed.

Our little shitbags delightful fur-babies turn their nose up at all of the "pate" style ones that most closely resemble something I myself would eat, strongly preferring the "mystery meat nuggets in slop" style.

I already live in NZ 😆

We had to travel to Iceland to find something that was sufficiently more impressive than what we have at home.

Funnily, a lot of people thought that the pictured Wharariki Beach was actually the (somewhat) similar looking Cathedral Cove, half the country away.

I haven't actually seen the former in person, but it's quite a trek from civilisation. Someday.

Considering when I first upgraded to a phone that included it, Gemini was incapable of setting a timer, I do not have high hopes for this.

This is to say, when I told it "set a timer for X minutes" it produced a UI on the phone that suggested it understood I wanted a timer, but failed the critical step of actually setting the damn timer. I immediately switched back to assistant, as there's really no coming back from a fuck-up that comprehensive.

Two minds on this one.

You wanna buy an overpriced, terrible vehicle that's the brainchild of the mastermind who was too weird even for Jeffrey Epstein. Knock yourself out buddy.

That I have to share the road with these chucklefucks, having seen how feverish they are to let the clankers take over driving said giant piece of shit vehicle? I would be lying if I said I didn't have concerns.

The indifference ends at the point where I'm unable to opt out of participation in their bullshit.
