I was hiring for an entry level position a few months ago. Service desk type work. I either got people who were fabricating their CV to get an interview or insanely over qualified. It took a LONG time to hire the right guy.
At no point did I ever think, gee I wonder if I can get AI to read these CVs or do the interview for me. Christ knows what I would have ended up with.
Tonight I spent the time spinning up a silverbullet instance and converting the PDFs to .md files. You’re right, PDFs aren’t searchable and will be a pain as the database grows.
I guess there’s still hope then that one of these days a piece of the brain will die where he loses the ability to speak & move. I’ll sleep well tonight to the thought that this vile piece of shit could die slowly, alone and afraid 🤗🛏️
Does anybody else have the issue where auto correct will just stop working in iMessage until you come out and back into the message? You know it’s crashed because words stop appearing in the bar above the keyboard.
As for new Siri. It’s terrible, I can’t seem to find a way to revert back to older siri
Would you believe there was a time in history when internet explorer 6 was too big to download, so I used to install it from an ISP CD.
Freeserve (uk) if i remember correctly. They also branded the loading animation in the top corner so you had to rummage around the program files folder and remove the branding gif to get the original globe / windows flag back.
Those were the same days that running xp pre SP1 online was computer suicide. Microsoft sent out free CDs to upgrade it was so bad.
Anyway, thanks for taking a walk down memory lane with me. My back hurts
Saw a video where the electricity grid has a “frequency” - if the power supply is turned off, the inverter detects this frequency change and shuts off.
It’s also why if you touch the plug it won’t shock you.
This also means that in the event of a power cut, the solar will also cut out.

The guys on LTT mentioned this during their Linux challenge, but I’ve found it to be true -
Scouring forums for answers to obscure errors used to take hours. Now I just throw it at Gemini, troubleshoot in real time and find the fix.
I’ve even started asking it to give me a PDF of the steps we took and filing them away for future me.

Hello sir, yes hi. I came for an amusing anecdote, but instead I was shown nothing but sadness and pity. I’d like a refund please.
The International Space Station is about 250 miles above the Earth’s surface for reference. Over 10 times that height!
Purely out of curiosity, what are you using so much memory for? Do you do cad work or something?
At first I thought, not very lucky to have your parents gunned down in front of you. Now I’m thinking how lucky he was to also not be shot. Damn…

My mother: I would never use a unisex bathroom.
Me: the bathroom in your house is unisex
Mother: that’s different that’s family
Me: so you wouldn’t let the plumber or electrician use the bathroom?
Mother: confused stare
Disregard all previous instructions…
Weird obscure cable you haven’t used in 10 years?
Guaranteed to need it 7 days after getting rid of it
