Just in case some folks don't know... some breeds are designed for this. My buddy's Pyrenees will do anything to stay outside in the snow and not come in as often as possible.
Yeah, from what I’ve hear, a common rule is if they keep snow on them like in the picture, they’re well insulated because the snow isn’t melting. If your dog has melted snow in their coat, they need to come in. But also, allow them to decide what they want.
My neighbor reported us for animal cruelty once because we had a Samoyed that loved to sit out in the snow.
Animal Control showed up, looked at our dog happily in a snow pile, confirmed that he had a dog house if he wanted and could come inside of he wanted - and then told the neighbor not to call again.
My neighbors have a Samoyed couple. They’re fluffy AF. And whe you’re coming home and pet the dog who walks behind, the other one turns around and demands pets as well.
Great story. I'm glad I went looking for it (haven't read it in 25+ years) because I got to discover that London wrote a slightly different version 6 years earlier.

I would also do anything to stay out and play in the snow, but I am hardly designed for it.

Is the rest of you black? Might explain it, if so.

mine are very jealous of attention as well lol, and wonderfully vocal about it
pet one without the other and you'll get ear pleasing grumbling and soft wooing, not barking
though they do shove themselves in between the petter and the pettee quite often to force it

Mom took in my 130lb. Akita when I couldn't keep him in my rental.
"Oh Shalafi! He just plops down on the freezing concrete and refuses to come inside!"
Tried to explain they were bred to hunt bears in the mountains of northern Japan. He's quite happy in the snow and ice.
"Can you just make him come in?"

My dog will run into the snow, roll around in it, splay out and just start eating snow. It would be really funny if anyone ever thought he was cold
mrgoosmoos@lemmy.ca · 2 pts · 311d
mine are so happy they get to dig in it
and eat it. they love eating snow and ice

If a husky is cold, it's probably close to the heat death of the universe.

The image in the post was edited. It said "their" as ragebait.
Look at the edit time 🙄.

So you identified something as "ragebait", fell for said bait, and somehow everyone else is stupid.
