What are some good uses the new ballroom can have after the Trump regime is over?

Maybe a big courtroom like what Nuremberg was used for after WW2.

A man can dream.

db2@lemmy.world · 23 pts · 303d

After that torn down and used as a rose garden.

MedicPigBabySaver@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 302d

Yes.

snausagesinablanket@lemmy.world · 69 pts · 303d (14 replies)

BTW, I just got a 7 day sitewide ban on Reddit for asking this same question!!

What the hell is going on there?

db2@lemmy.world · 38 pts · 303d

Reddit is owned and operated by boot licking wannabe fascists. That's what's going on.

WhatGodIsMadeOf@feddit.org · 29 pts · 303d

No one should trust anything American anymore.

BassTurd@lemmy.world · 12 pts · 303d

Dude, get off Reddit. The thing that's going on there now has been going on there for years. It's a true cesspool over there and using the platform enables them and gives money to spez.

over_clox@lemmy.world · 10 pts · 303d

Only 7 days? Hell, I got permabanned from Reddit years ago for mentioning Elon Musk's Boring Company and their 'Not A Flamethrower' contraption, which is totally a flamethrower of sorts, and looks like a fucking toy!

And this was way before Elmo even mentioned the idea of buying Twitter and before Reddit went public...

Fuck Reddit and fuck Spez, they'll just as soon ban you for mentioning facts.

Zwuzelmaus@feddit.org · 6 pts · 302d (1 reply)

Yea. You should be proud of that.

(But try harder next time and get a ban for life)

People on the Conservatives and AskTrumpSupporters subreddits love to whine about how left leaning the rest of the site is.

I think that was true enough in the past, but the last several years have changed things.

I haven’t been there in the comments for about a year now but from the regular posts on here about being banned over there make me think it’s only gotten worse.

FreedomAdvocate@lemmy.net.au · 1 pts · 298d (2 replies)

Where’s the proof it was for the comment you say it was?

FreedomAdvocate@lemmy.net.au · 1 pts · 298d

So no proof, gotcha. Why didn’t you share the ban message which specifically shows the comment that got you banned?

Don’t worry, I know why.

FreedomAdvocate@lemmy.net.au · -3 pts · 303d (3 replies)

lol you definitely didn't.

Inaminate_Carbon_Rod@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 302d (1 reply)

What makes you doubt it?

FreedomAdvocate@lemmy.net.au · -3 pts · 302d

Because Reddit is run by the far left and there’s literally no way you got a site wide ban for asking that question.

I'm fairly convinced he's building it because he has no intention of his regime being over. It will be passed down to his son as the next Reichful ruler. :/

snausagesinablanket@lemmy.world · 7 pts · 303d

compostgoblin@piefed.blahaj.zone · 3 pts · 302d

I agree he has no intentions of leaving office, but neither of his sons have the charisma to carry on the cult of personality. Whenever and however he dies, there is going to be a massive power struggle that ensures, and I don’t know if there’s anyone that can pull off being the sole inheritor of the MAGA movement

Wouldn't it make a good court room for a Nuremberg-style trial to hold the current Junta responsible for their crimes and treason? And remember: "I was just following orders" is not a valid excuse!

Yeah, but that would crash the airbnb market. Please remember to think of the shareholders

relativestranger@feddit.nl · 1 pts · 302d

fuck airbnb. rents have tripled here with so many apartments and homes taken off the market and turned into untaxed and unlicensed hotel rooms.

Bloefz@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 302d (1 reply)

I didn't know that, but I do know that homelessness isn't just a housing problem. A huge number of cases are more mental health related: E.g. even if the person had money they wouldn't be able to live in a stable home. Because the root cause of their lack of money and homelessness is mental health. I would also consider drug addiction to be a mental health issue here by the way which would be a significant percentage of the homeless too.

And that is of course heavily associated with the lack of affordable mental healthcare in the US :( And drug addiction care.

Of course if you would give out housing you would save a lot of homeless, just saying it wouldn't work for all.

We could probably take the ballroom apart very carefully and use the materials to rebuild the east wing but, once started, we'd discover that trumpy cut corners like hell to line his pockets even more and the ballroom is just a pig shell of nothingness, but with golden lipstick.

Bazoogle@lemmy.world · 4 pts · 302d

Nobody is going to rebuild the east wing. Americans don't want it torn down, but I'm sure most of us also don't want our money spent rebuilding it

njm1314@lemmy.world · 9 pts · 302d

Probably be a great place to broadcast the hangings from.

Aeao@lemmy.world · 9 pts · 303d

A ballroom… a large meeting space? I don’t think we need a ballroom. I don’t think the presidents normally have big galas and I’d rather not make that a thing either.

I guess we just use it as a ballroom or meeting space. Since it going to happen wether I like it or not I guess we just use it for its intended purpose occasionally.

We should immediately redecorate it tho because I’m sure trump will make it look very “new money “ like he does with everything else he decorates. “More gold means more rich right? Put it everywhere!”

So embarrassing.

P1nkman@lemmy.world · 7 pts · 303d

A guillotine is all that's needed in there

InfiniteHench@lemmy.world · 7 pts · 302d (1 reply)

Bold of you to assume they ever plan on leaving. He’s already handing out Trump 2028 hats and Bannon is just doing media interviews telling everyone he isn’t leaving.

You don’t tear down an entire wing from one of the most (symbolically) important buildings in the country just to throw parties for a couple years and then leave.

I'm not convinced it's going to survive the civil war that is required to get Trump and his cronies out of power.

starlinguk@lemmy.world · 5 pts · 303d (2 replies)

Especially because there's a bunker underneath.

I'm willing to bet this is all about modernising the bunker, not the east wing.

ArchmageAzor@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 303d

It's not tacky or gold-covered enough for Trump's tastes. He needs that shitty dollar store-baroque style to feel at ease.

dhork@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 302d

"Modernizing" being euphemism for planting lots of listening devices for his friends in Russia paying customers.

Demolished and have offices built.

relativestranger@feddit.nl · 5 pts · 302d

demolished is the only answer.

it won't be built to code. shortcuts will be taken as everybody looks to score some free cash along the way.

no one will know what 'extra' items were planted during its reconstruction. even more significant if the security bunkers underneath the demolished east wing are also rebuilt.

piskertariot@lemmy.world · 4 pts · 303d

The East Wing historically was used as an art gallery and offices for the First Lady and her staff.

The Ballroom will likely be used as an art gallery, and offices for the first lady and her staff.

Turn it into a pigsty.

Use the pigs to feed the hungry.

Also, breed the pigs to look like Trump.

(I mean, if the Danes could get a pig breed to look like their flag, I'm sure Americans can get a pig breed to look like Trump. I mean, they're already almost there!)

Steve@communick.news · 2 pts · 303d
  • Make it a high end wedding venue.
  • Partition it out as apartments for the homeless.
  • Sell it to The Wizards.
  • Make it an escape room.
  • SA support group meetings.
  • A Trump museum with displays and info on all his failed businesses.
  • FEMA staging area.

'It'll be the bigliest best ballroom like nobody has ever seen before. I'll have the biggest best balls and all the young girls will have a blast!'

FriendOfDeSoto@startrek.website · 1 pts · 303d

On a list of priorities, having a ballroom for state dinners and what not would not be high on mine. But as a big government whose reputation 47 hasn't ruined entirely (yet), I can see the usefulness of a dedicated ballroom for these functions. He is all about appearances and little to no substance behind it. Some government functions are like that, even when the people running it have decidedly more substance behind it than this shriveled mandarin. I would have looked at a gazillion other issues first if I were him but I also take pride in not being him or being similar to him in any way. So let him have his silly ballroom. The construction of which will reveal either that they cooked the numbers or [clasping pearls] it was built by immigrants without the proper visa. You can rename it the Obama ballroom or something when he's gone (eventually/hopefully) and I suspect you can pawn the gold leaf from the walls to help reduce the budget gap he'll undoubtedly leave behind.
