Amethyst and iris. These are pretty much my signature colors. But purples are like doggos: I love them all. πŸ’œ

"Klem," you may ask, "do you have a relevant eyeshadow palette in your collection?"

Of course I do!:

LadyButterfly@piefed.blahaj.zone · 4 pts · 272d

Oh they are beautiful

HeyThisIsntTheYMCA@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 272d

I don't wear makeup (unless I'm on camera/stage) and I want to try these they are gorgeous

Assassassin@lemmy.dbzer0.com · 3 pts · 272d (1 reply)

Pink foil text on a purple and pink background was certainly not the best choice for legibility. Neat palette though!

klemptor@startrek.website · 3 pts · 272d

Ha you're not wrong!

fartographer@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 271d

I don't pick favorites, but you're now my favorite

Midnight. Hope to get my car wrapped in this color one day.

Purple.

A classic lover i approve

kaklerbitmap@lemmy.world · 6 pts · 272d (1 reply)

Asking for my favorite shade of any color with no other context is like asking "what's your favorite music note?"

fibojoly@sh.itjust.works · 2 pts · 272d

Thank you! Is such a nonsensical question to me. What! You want me to not like colours? What kind of monster do you think I am? I love them all! Yes, even beige, I don't care !

captainlezbian@lemmy.world · 6 pts · 272d

Indigo and Iris look great to me, that said I love every purple

squirrel@discuss.tchncs.de · 6 pts · 272d

Psychedelic Bright

WalrusDragonOnABike@reddthat.com · 5 pts · 272d (1 reply)

Violet, Iris, Psychedelic are probably top 3?

Naz@sh.itjust.works · 1 pts · 272d

I agree with this

ElectroLisa@piefed.blahaj.zone · 5 pts · 272d

TF2 hat colours be like

cerebralhawks@lemmy.dbzer0.com · 4 pts · 272d

Of those, by name? Ultra Violet.

When I would play Saints Row, that one looks closest to the colour I'd pick for all the cars and clothes. (If you're unfamiliar with the series, it's a gang-themed action RPG similar to GTA and made to compete with it when it was exclusive to PlayStation; the original Saints Row was Xbox exclusive, though the rest have been on all platforms. The Third Street Saints gang uses the colour purple primarily, likely because no major gang does.)

Just tell me my mood right now!?

Kolanaki@pawb.social · 4 pts · 272d

RizzRustbolt@lemmy.world · 4 pts · 272d

Mulberry. I remember picking the ripe berries and then helping to make homemade ink with my great aunt.

happydoors@lemmy.world · 4 pts · 272d

I find myself liking them all and imagining different scenarios they would work in and their personalities. Am I alone here?

fartographer@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 271d

All πŸ‘ purples πŸ‘ are πŸ‘ beautiful πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘

But today, I'm really feeling that Russian

FilthyShrooms@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 272d

Indigo and ultra violet. I love dark purple

Triasha@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 272d

Indigo.

I am partial to blue, and indigo has a pleasing amount of blue, while still being distinctly purple.

jwphinia@fedia.io · 3 pts · 272d

Orchid and royal for me.

logi@piefed.world · 3 pts · 272d

You will know it when I throw it.

HeyThisIsntTheYMCA@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 272d

Amethyst

TheLunatickle@lemmy.zip · 3 pts · 272d

Amethyst and midnight are tied for me.

ButteryMonkey@piefed.social · 3 pts · 272d

I like psychedelic, violet, and amethyst the most (in that order).

Purples are my absolute favorite, though, so I like most of these.

AceFuzzLord@lemmy.zip · 3 pts · 272d

Midnight is absolutely peak, IMO.

Hard choice for second, place, though.

HorreC@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 272d

Ultra Violet. Both in light, and in shade.

kiara@piefed.blahaj.zone · 3 pts · 272d

Lavender or Psychedelic

ThirdConsul@lemmy.ml · 3 pts · 272d

Plum and orchid

fireweed@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 272d

Quite a number of these seem mislabeled, or at least they don't match their namesake objects (e.g. lavender, lilac, grape)

That said, another vote for "iris"

YiddishMcSquidish@lemmy.today · 3 pts · 272d (2 replies)

Hands down psychedelic!

ulterno@programming.dev · 2 pts · 272d (1 reply)

So do you really like it for the colour, or for the name?

YiddishMcSquidish@lemmy.today · 2 pts · 272d

Definitely the hue. I've done psychedelics a handful of times but much more just prefer my pot.

sober_monk@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 272d

MoonRaven@feddit.nl · 2 pts · 272d

Plum or royal

ptolemy@infosec.pub · 2 pts · 272d

Midnight, Iris.

burntbacon@discuss.tchncs.de · 2 pts · 271d

Half psychedelic, half indigo. Also, I'm darn certain some of these can't be rightly labeled. Either that or the 'average' perception and memory of color names is way off, because I swear I've seen violet as a much darker shade. Also, godddddddang, who put them in this order? It's not alphabetical, it's not in similarity, it's not even in brightness/darkness.

UltraGiGaGigantic@lemmy.ml · 2 pts · 272d (1 reply)

I want more then one option. Can I pick the 3 colors from the bisexual flag?

burntbacon@discuss.tchncs.de · 1 pts · 271d

Only if you adopt a bisexual from the local pound. Don't worry, they're really easy to care for. If you pat them on the head and give them affirmations twice a day, they are guaranteed to flourish! They're often resourceful enough to find their own food and will often bring home gifts that can be dropped at your feet, like piles of money.

Aneb@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 272d

Iris really pops

sundray@lemmus.org · 2 pts · 272d

Plum? Or maybe grape?

angrystego@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 272d (2 replies)

I sorely miss periwinkle here. Iris and amethyst are close enough.

burntbacon@discuss.tchncs.de · 1 pts · 271d (1 reply)

Isn't periwinkle a shade of blue?

angrystego@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 270d

Yeah, it's something between blue and purple, I'd say.

pixeltree@lemmy.blahaj.zone · 2 pts · 272d

From yhose, violet and psychedelic, the rest are too dark or too cold

thatradomguy@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 272d

I think I have a shirt in Midnight, so that's my answer.

notsure@fedia.io · 2 pts · 272d

@LadyButterfly@piefed.blahaj.zone ...iris...

tgirlschierke@lemmy.blahaj.zone · 2 pts · 272d

hard to pick but Light feels neat

Beebabe@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 272d

I’m a fan of midnight and orchid personally.

tyler@programming.dev · 2 pts · 272d

Wildberry

Stamau123@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 272d

Plum or Russian

ulterno@programming.dev · 2 pts · 272d

I never claim to like any single colour.
It always has to be in contrast with something and depends upon the context.

For example in a GUI application, if I am making thin lines on black background, I would go with higher Luminance colours.
If I am making 2 large areas side-by-side, separated by colour, then I am most probably going with a very slight difference in Luminance.

Then it also depends upon the screen. I like amber lines on a black background, but have never seen a satisfactory amber on my LCD display. I have seen CRTs do that better. And the most satisfying amber I have seen is that of a CFL at night, where even the colour of the wall behind it, affected the impression (not a screen, but a lighting fixture), so essentially a gradient.

Zizzy@lemmy.blahaj.zone · 2 pts · 272d (1 reply)

Mauve maybe. Hard to choose all so good

fartographer@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 271d

I did a lot of my youth aging in the '90s and my father helped design our house. But my father's sense of style was eternally in the '60s - '70s. About a third of our house was mauve. Mauve carpets, mauve bathroom... Even a pink fucking toilet because "they didn't have one in mauve."

Anyway, good choice!

dandelion@lemmy.blahaj.zone · 2 pts · 271d

Indigo, then Iris, then Amethyst

Pastel, pale, lavender

TastehWaffleZ@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 272d

Iris for sure, that's the color I set in SC2 when I played Zerg

Kitchel@sopuli.xyz · 1 pts · 271d

Wildberry, I like the softness of it and the reddish undertone. Then it's plum or midnight.

Lemminary@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 272d

I count like four shades with slight variations.

MonkderVierte@lemmy.zip · 1 pts · 272d

Refused.

purplemonkeymad@programming.dev · 1 pts · 272d

Bright is probably would be the closest for me, but it also depends on usage. I'm not using it as a wall colour.
