This doesn’t fully hide the “shape” of your face, head, and features well enough to deter against more advanced detection models

dontsayaword@piefed.social · 9 pts · 266d (1 reply)

Just needs a dazzle camo pattern

Wahots@pawb.social · 4 pts · 265d

I still wish we'd bring back those paint jobs. They're so stunning, even just for purely artistic reasons.

Sew in some lumps or just tuck a few cotton balls randomly underneath?

SeductiveTortoise@piefed.social · 4 pts · 266d

Or make them yourself with really bad skin

Zetta@mander.xyz · 3 pts · 266d (1 reply)

Stuff some clumps of toilet paper underneath.

neukenindekeuken@sh.itjust.works · 5 pts · 266d

Instructions unclear. Now have toilet paper boobs.

phonics@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 266d

Wear one of these 🥸 underneath

ICastFist@programming.dev · 4 pts · 266d

MrSmith@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 265d

Mmmm... Baklaaaava...

toynbee@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 265d

This person reminds me of the police officer who pursued a vendetta against the titular House.

Actor David Morse

You do also need to cover your eyes at the very least

DonEladio@feddit.org · 5 pts · 266d (2 replies)

SaveTheTuaHawk@lemmy.ca · 3 pts · 266d (1 reply)

oh, so that's what happened to Kip Dynamite.

DonEladio@feddit.org · 1 pts · 266d

He could drink whole milk.

BotsRuinedEverything@lemmy.world · 31 pts · 266d (5 replies)

Meanwhile silhouette and gait analysis provide a 75% accurate identification. Voice print confirms. Cell phone data pins your every movement for the last ten days. But you sure fooled their facial recognition.

pulsewidth@lemmy.world · 27 pts · 266d (1 reply)

Layers of the onion, cheif. Every layer helps.

Carry no phone to places you don't want to be identified: problem 1 solved.
Put a pebble in your shoe to modify gait: problem 2 solved.
What are they voice printing, your whispers? Your shouts in a crowd? Your silence? Good luck. Problem 3 solved.

However, this mask is designed to defeat AI facial recognition at mass scale. Not to make you anonymous at all times eg protests and whatnot.

Bazell@lemmy.zip · 1 pts · 265d

I think that this one misses dark translucent patterns on it to make facial regognition even more harder by providing coloration obstacles.

Wahots@pawb.social · 5 pts · 265d (1 reply)

Wear a fursuit and walk like Dune characters. :)

MehBlah@lemmy.world · 5 pts · 265d

At least you wont attract the worm or Fatboy Slim.

SCmSTR@lemmy.blahaj.zone · 1 pts · 266d

What even is privacy anymore

kamenlady@lemmy.world · 22 pts · 266d (2 replies)

Looks like one of those chastity cages, but for faces

krooklochurm@lemmy.ca · 9 pts · 266d (1 reply)

Interestingly, like a chastity cage it is impossible to get laid wearing one of these

SCmSTR@lemmy.blahaj.zone · 6 pts · 266d

Chastity cages do not make it impossible to have sex

Gladaed@feddit.org · 22 pts · 266d

If you can recognize then, ai can. Or will be able to.

This tries to solve a problem on an individual level that cannot be solved on an individual level.

Effective bans on surveillance and permits for protests are the only way that can work.

SaveTheTuaHawk@lemmy.ca · 21 pts · 266d (4 replies)

bad news, if you can use a lens to convolve an image, they you can use software to deconvolve it.

Jakeroxs@sh.itjust.works · 13 pts · 266d (3 replies)

Reminds me of the spiral face pedo guy

KuroiKaze@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 265d (2 replies)

Context? That dude from Naruto?

GunValkyrie@lemmy.world · 8 pts · 265d

No, a pedophile that put out his picture on the Internet daring to be caught. But he used the paint swirl tool. So they just unswirled it and arrested him.

Jakeroxs@sh.itjust.works · 1 pts · 265d

Lmao, no not Tobi

SpikesOtherDog@ani.social · 16 pts · 267d (15 replies)

Illegal in many places. Also, dressing like that is suspicious.

A cloth mask and hat will do much the same and stand out less.

altphoto@lemmy.today · 8 pts · 267d (10 replies)

Is there a face mask that looks like skin?

SpikesOtherDog@ani.social · 5 pts · 266d (6 replies)

Others have answered, but there are masks that look like faces.

Kolanaki@pawb.social · 9 pts · 266d (3 replies)

Everyone is suddenly Kanye West

SpikesOtherDog@ani.social · 2 pts · 266d

Searching for funny fake mouth COVID mask gets a lot of interesting results.

I only see them in white skin tones, so there is that.

Yes, very much.

Noodle07@lemmy.world · 5 pts · 267d (1 reply)

Skin tone mask ? Draw facial hair on it

altphoto@lemmy.today · 1 pts · 266d

They do! LOL.

RaoulDuke85@piefed.social · 2 pts · 266d

Peaches, I love peaches.

Lojcs@piefed.social · 6 pts · 266d (3 replies)

illegal?

SpikesOtherDog@ani.social · 7 pts · 266d (2 replies)
Lojcs@piefed.social · 1 pts · 266d (1 reply)

Would this count? Your face is still visible just distorted.

SpikesOtherDog@ani.social · 2 pts · 265d

I guess. Executive branch interprets the law in the field, where judicial interprets in the courtroom. Can someone claim that the person's face was hidden in that mask?

I thought it might make more sense to use body paint, but that will be easier to identify people if they have to leave in a hurry. Peel-away paint? Grease paint to obfuscate the contours of the face?

Regardless of that, there are biometrics of gait, voice, and the growing ability to track people across cities.

Jake_Farm@sopuli.xyz · 15 pts · 266d (3 replies)

Proof this actually works please. Because if the blur tool can be undon digitially surely this mask can as well.

shalafi@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 266d (1 reply)

The undo-blur tools works because they figured out the blur algorithm. Same with this mask. You would have to make a few, random, minor adjustments.

Jake_Farm@sopuli.xyz · 1 pts · 266d

I can't wrap my head around that, I even watched a video about it and I still don't understand how they get back lost information.

xia@lemmy.sdf.org · 2 pts · 266d

Which means... it currently works against AUTOMATED facial recog, until they add this to their distortion data set (or whatever).

Headofthebored@lemmy.world · 12 pts · 266d

Every day I tell my kids about the ever worsening dystopian nightmare they're dodging by never existing in the first place, holy fucking shit...

HonoraryMancunian@lemmy.world · 11 pts · 266d (1 reply)

That's insanely good, you cant even see his beard from the side

SaveTheTuaHawk@lemmy.ca · 3 pts · 266d

Ironically AI slop.

Fredselfish@lemmy.world · 10 pts · 267d (3 replies)

This should be in boring dystopia, it would suck to have to wear this everywhere you go.

phonics@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 266d

Imagine the heat build up. Greenhouse face.

Hideakikarate@sh.itjust.works · 2 pts · 266d (1 reply)

Can't be that bad. We already did something very similar a few years ago.

ulterno@programming.dev · -1 pts · 266d

I don't have a recollection.
What was it?

reksas@sopuli.xyz · 6 pts · 265d

i misread the title very badly, thought at first it was about some anti-mask people against facial recognition, using masks for it.

WolfLink@sh.itjust.works · 5 pts · 265d

A simple opaque mask would be better

muusemuuse@sh.itjust.works · 5 pts · 265d

So here’s the thing, nobody cares to verify if the AI is right.

xia@lemmy.sdf.org · 5 pts · 266d

I think a ski mask would be cheaper.

ooli3@sopuli.xyz · 4 pts · 266d

keyword: AI

The point is not to hide your face

Nomorereddit@lemmy.today · 4 pts · 265d

Lol teens wear ski mask for $2

Bazell@lemmy.zip · 1 pts · 265d (3 replies)

Modern problems require modern solutions.

fishos@lemmy.world · 0 pts · 265d (2 replies)

That's just a fresnal lense. It's a pretty old design

yakko@feddit.uk · 1 pts · 265d (1 reply)

Without knowing exactly what the optics are like on this model, I feel like you probably don't want a Fresnel lens anywhere near your face just on general principles

fishos@lemmy.world · 0 pts · 265d

Looks to be made of plastic and I doubt it's actually focused. But the design is the same
