Canada: "I'm about to stop saying sorry..." US: "Oh shit!" UK: "Oh shit!" Australia: "Oh shit!" NZ: "Oh shit!"

Mess with the moose you get the antlers.

Credit where credit is due, that 90 billion is from a decline in total international tourism to the US. Canada makes up almost a third of that but this is a global effort! So, thanks to all you good people across the world!

Seeing as America is now charging international tourists an extra hundred dollars just to enter their national parks, I expect even fewer people will be travelling to see them.

Typhoon@lemmy.ca · 12 pts · 293d

That way they can say no one uses them and sell them off to be exploited.

slothrop@lemmy.ca · 4 pts · 293d

Plus it's yet another administrative reason to collect every person's data.
Papers, comrade?

WanderingThoughts@europe.pub · 11 pts · 294d

It sure helps that from time to time another news item pops up about another traveler detained at USA border checks.

the worst part is knowing none of it was necessary at all; simply a tantrum by an idiot who wasn't restrained by his own followers.

I do hope in the future there's a better understanding: when conservatives want to visit, treat them as they would treat you. when conservative businesses want your $, send it elsewhere. you're our neighbor, friend and ally, and deserved better than any of these events, especially from us.

there will be a reckoning, but our process sucks and it takes time. until then please know we'd rather be there with you, than here with them.

Yankees just don’t get it. Also - we hold grudges like no one else.

Do you though? It’s not something that can be forgiven, even if Shittler is gone some day. There’s sycophants who believe the same thing and tens of millions of Americans. So -yeah. We are done and it’s generational.

Okay but are you in the market for some extra provinces and a land border with someplace that doesn't suck?

guyoverthere123@lemmy.dbzer0.com · 6 pts · 293d (1 reply)

I'm glad the Americans are getting what they voted for.

III@lemmy.world · 7 pts · 293d

As an American who didn't vote for this, I completely agree. Go Canada.

Wilco@lemmy.zip · 3 pts · 293d

Fuck the USA, we are ruled by idiotic crime lords. Hurting their wallets is the only thing that seems to reach them ... so keep it up.

Bombastion@lemmy.blahaj.zone · 2 pts · 293d

As an American, I super support this.

That is like .3% of our GDP, though. Not saying those numbers directly relate, but I think it's a much smaller dent than 90 billion seems like it should be.

I wonder how the current boycott is going? https://www.blackoutthesystem.com/
