Three types of guys: The Orcs, the Elves and the Dwarves. They are not mutually exclusive.

Valmond@lemmy.world · 27 pts · 233d (1 reply)

Halflings: Boobs!

joelfromaus@aussie.zone · 2 pts · 231d

TIL I’m a Halfling.

anarchosparky@piefed.blahaj.zone · 4 pts · 233d

Dwarf by trade, Orc by the grace of God, Elf by the way you hear other hillbillies talk

I am the One

morto@piefed.social · 49 pts · 233d (7 replies)

None of them checks out. My fantasy is being able to provide a small community in a post-collapse society with crafting, engineering, and knowledge

unrealMinotaur@sh.itjust.works · 35 pts · 233d (1 reply)

So... Leading a small community in a last stand against all odds? (Incl digging a hole [well / latrine.])

vaultdweller013@sh.itjust.works · 3 pts · 233d

Doesn't have to be a well or latrine, could be earthen works, running water pipes, or the corpse hole.

cdipierr@lemmy.world · 18 pts · 233d

Engineering infrastructure? Like foundations and wells? Sounds like you're number three my brother.

And if the wolves come knocking at your community's door, maybe number one.

grranibal@lemmy.zip · 8 pts · 233d

He’ll yeah! Same

Semi_Hemi_Demigod@lemmy.world · 6 pts · 232d

That just sounds like digging a hole with extra steps

infinitesunrise@slrpnk.net · 2 pts · 233d

Agree with others, that's just Number 3. And I'm right there with ya, brother.

anarchosparky@piefed.blahaj.zone · 1 pts · 233d

You're an elder Dorf. We share similar goals.

Let's meet for biscuits and gravy, you know the place.

ChaoticNeutralCzech@feddit.org · 39 pts · 233d

Find a stick for life

Harvey656@lemmy.world · 31 pts · 233d (2 replies)

Best part is you can have all three: Dig a hole to moleman territory in winter, get into a desperate final stand against the moleman warriors crawl out and bleed to death in the snow. Wet dream material.

TotallynotJessica@lemmy.blahaj.zone · 5 pts · 233d (1 reply)

but the moleman warriors can use your own tunnels against you 🤔

Harvey656@lemmy.world · 11 pts · 233d

What do you think the last stand is for? Its a self fulfilling prophecy.

nova_ad_vitum@lemmy.ca · 27 pts · 233d (3 replies)

The middle drawing appears to be the end scene of Bladerunner 2049 where the protagonist lies on the concrete steps, not a field.

https://youtu.be/bqFwDapu23w?t=3m50s

Meme is 0/10 literally unplayable

EDIT - Added spoiler tag. Also Snape killed Dumbledore

verdare@piefed.blahaj.zone · 5 pts · 233d (1 reply)

I was going to say the same thing! Probably should spoiler tag that, though.

rainwall@piefed.social · 1 pts · 233d

The movie has a couple protaganists at least.

TotallynotJessica@lemmy.blahaj.zone · 4 pts · 233d

pls spoiler tag

Smorty@lemmy.blahaj.zone · 22 pts · 233d (5 replies)

reminds me of....

::: spoiler SPOILER for game journey by thatgamecompany

image of two characters on a very cold snowy mountain slowly walking towards the light at the top of it :::

gosh.... what a gud game..,. luv it,.,. <3

Same. I lucked into the best

::: spoiler Tap for spoiler partner I possibly could have had. He let me explore and do things on my own and when I got stuck, he would chirp with the right direction. He had special robes so I knew he knew everything and was just my Sherpa, and we could talk without talking. I had to use the restroom so I made two circles and chirped, and he chirped and stopped moving. He stood up when I came back and we were on our way. My partner had the worst experience… first partner disconnected after ten minutes. Restarted. Second partner was a speedrunner. Third partner disconnected before the final climb. No more partner. I was very sad for them. :::

joelfromaus@aussie.zone · 2 pts · 231d

This is very similar to my own experience and I think is why Lemmy in particular has such mixed views on the game. It’s a game best shared with a total stranger who you’ll never know and that persons attitude to the game (playstyle) can change that experience too.

So Lemmy, where so many multiplayer game threads start with comments like “this game is bad, I never play multiplayer games.” Probably lend to a lot of people not liking a game whose main mechanic is being saddled with a stranger.

burntbacon@discuss.tchncs.de · 1 pts · 233d (1 reply)

Loved the game, but still think it's overhyped. ;)

The last portion is just a slog after all the fun of the fast movement and pretty visuals.

Smorty@lemmy.blahaj.zone · 2 pts · 233d

i mean,., isnt that ki da the point?..,,..

user224@lemmy.sdf.org · 20 pts · 233d (2 replies)

Where is "watching trains"?

anarchosparky@piefed.blahaj.zone · 4 pts · 233d

Thats autism, so dwarves. Or elves. In this case, dwarves.

Lucidlethargy@sh.itjust.works · 2 pts · 233d

Lol wtf? Are you a foamer?

Jayjader@jlai.lu · 20 pts · 233d

One of my favorite parts about being fluid is feeling like "male fantasy" and "female fantasy" memes are made for me. This is definitely no exception!

FosterMolasses@leminal.space · 18 pts · 233d (3 replies)

I long to understand the science behind why the second one appeals to me so much lmao

_stranger_@lemmy.world · 16 pts · 233d (1 reply)

Everyone dies. Not everyone gets to die looking cool as fuck.

anarchosparky@piefed.blahaj.zone · 1 pts · 233d

Also the cold/freezing to death is supposed to be peaceful

bestagon@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 232d

As a fellow #2, I think it’s the melodrama

groet@feddit.org · 16 pts · 233d

Nah that's the same fantasy: dig hole, dig to deeply and to greedily, defend against what you awakened, heroic last stand, noble sacrifice, bleed out on snow knowing you saved everyone else.

QuantumSparkles@sh.itjust.works · 14 pts · 233d (3 replies)

What is the original from? I like the art style

TotallynotJessica@lemmy.blahaj.zone · 19 pts · 233d

Mimi by Nhim

Yeah, did OP draw this?

I'm trying to figure out if the presenter is a monster -- scary eyes, fangs... ?

For anyone who is like yeah diggy hole.

Highly recommend the game Out of Ore. Not only do you diggy big holes. You do it with heavy equipment.

https://store.steampowered.com/app/2009350/Out_of_Ore/

FatVegan@leminal.space · 2 pts · 233d (1 reply)

Is it a real game or is it some streamer slop?

ZeroPoke@lemmy.ca · 1 pts · 232d

It's real, has some of the best digging I've seen in any game. I'm not a streamer or anything. Just like digging with heavy equipment. Spent alot of timing modding Farming Sim to do till I found Out of Ore.

I just moved over to Linux and I'm trying to move my save right now.

ZILtoid1991@lemmy.world · 12 pts · 232d (3 replies)

"Digging a hole" is more of a metaphor. Could also be applied to putting a lot of effort and time into any craft that looks and sounds meaningless on the surface. I work on an open-source game engine for at least a decade (to save myself, usually I only work a few hours on it at once), but I'm also looking into building my own guitar pedals, and maybe once I can start making headless guitars out of carbon fiber and with neodymium pickups, the ultimate sacrilige against guitar traditionalist snobs.

SkyezOpen@lemmy.world · 8 pts · 232d (2 replies)

Maybe, but as a young lad I had a weird drive to dig holes in dirt. I always bugged my parents but they never let me. Then one year I dug a bunch of post holes working for my dad. Now I think dirt is fine where it currently is.

tetris11@feddit.uk · 3 pts · 232d

oh yep that'll do it.

I wanted to chainsaw a tree as a kid. Now that ive climbed a tree as an adult and chopped its limbs off whilst hoping the chain doesn't snap - I'm done.

Back to planting, and nurturing thanks

devedeset@lemmy.zip · 3 pts · 231d

My parents let me have a dirt pit when I was a kid, it was a fucking blast. It sorta went away when it evolved into bike jumps

I love the opening lines of the first verse:

Brothers of the mine, rejoice!
Sing, sing, sing with me
Raise your pick and raise your voice!
Swing, swing, swing with me

Visstix@lemmy.world · 7 pts · 233d (2 replies)
Arigion@feddit.org · 4 pts · 233d (1 reply)

I don't really like it. It sounds tinny not woody. Gooooorn.

Visstix@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 233d

Diggy is tinny, home is woody

vaultdweller013@sh.itjust.works · 9 pts · 233d

Pretty sure the top image is the last stand of the Thunder warriors from 30k. The emperor's treason shall not be forgotten, FOR THE WAR MASTER!

ArmoredThirteen@lemmy.zip · 9 pts · 233d (1 reply)

Could be all three in that order: successful last stand that you give your life for ending up with you bleeding out in a snowy field while trying to dig a grave for you and the loved one you lost in the battle

burntbacon@discuss.tchncs.de · 5 pts · 233d

Maaaaaaaan, the last thing I'd want to do while bleeding out in a snowy field is digging a grave.

SanctimoniousApe@lemmings.world · 7 pts · 233d

Damn, if that's Kara then I'm all in on the new Supergirl film next year!

HeyThisIsntTheYMCA@lemmy.world · 6 pts · 233d (2 replies)

I'm gonna be honest, the digging a hole Isekai was pretty good

Breezy@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 232d (1 reply)

Which one? Isekaied people be diggings holes quite often.

HeyThisIsntTheYMCA@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 232d

i don't remember. something about powering up by digging holes. maybe he had to jump to the moon?

WorldsDumbestMan@lemmy.today · 4 pts · 233d

I'm not like that anymore, I do as a matter of fact, just want to dig holes in peace.

umbraroze@slrpnk.net · 3 pts · 231d
Jimjim@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 233d

They dont all fit the same fantasy genre. Especially the middle, that just like a dying wish, not necessarily a "fantasy"
