I think you have your hierarchy reversed. Kidnapping is about extortion. The intention is always to give the victim back. Capturing in this case refers to something already worse than kidnapping.
We're in a thread talking about the only other choice we had for president vs Trump, because of what Trump is doing as president, and you're going "well aCkShYuALLy" about it.
When faced with two choices (which itself is a problem that needs to be addressed), the American people picked the fascist pedophile over "woman who laughs weird" (something the GOP actually tried to use against her during their campaign).
she was also an american imperialist she made that clear.
If you've got any proof of that claim, lay it out for us. As someone who does not pledge allegiance to any politician in any way, shape, or form whatsoever, I would be very interested to see what you've got.
No you are in a thread about numerous war crimes that led to the kidnapping of a country's leader and overthrow of a sovereign nation. As well as the plundering of the wealth for an entire country.
The well aCtUALly here is people sidelining the war crimes discussion into an endless debate about red and blue. The factv is basically every US president since WW2 has been guilty of war crimes and all americans can do is argue about red and blue.
She made it clear she was an imperialist by refusing to condemn a genocide that was being carried out with US weapons and sold to the genocidal regime under her tenure as vice president.
To be clear Trump is a pedophile rapist war criminal as well. Please dont dismiss me as an apologist for either of them.
I think the panama canal will be next. Easier than those two and makes the statement he's serious about it. So they can better take his deal and be grateful
Which is why they're bombing Nigeria? They threaten white settler states like Canada because they know settlers will care more about themselves than people in the global south.
Maybe Greenland but Canada no way. Canada will put up a fierce fight and a LOT of Americans will defect to fight for democracy rather than live under a pedofile king and his circus of Nazis
It would be over before we knew it had started. The independent nation of Canada is a fragile thing and they might not be able to cleanly take over politically, but they can certainly destroy it in a single decapitating strike.
What makes you think we're so much different than Venezuela? Or Iraq? What, because we're mostly white? How many principled meatheads in the US military refused orders and defected any of the other times?
I see Canada more likely to be like Afghanistan or Vietnam. I definitely don’t believe one strike would win anything. I was raised by a delta special forces Vietnam vet green beret and he would constantly say NEVER underestimate guerrilla warfare. I just don’t think they would be subdued easily and I do think they would be skilled with guerrilla tactics and withstanding the cold. I think the friendship between Canada and America would be a huge blow to troop morale. I don’t think Mexico would fall easily either and 99% of Americans in the west anyway have Mexican friends(very bad for morale). I think Mexico would put up a fight and I think both countries would wear down the moral of the military and cost way too much. The only effective strategy would be to do an internal coup after heavily propagandizing the populations of the countries and I do see that as a possibility for Canada
It won't. Venezuela isn't a member of BRICS or anything. They're a member of OPEC, but that's an economic cartel, not a military alliance. They don't have the necessary allies to come to their aid to turn it into a world war.
The US inherited it from the British, there were people already living here. They have been invading sovereign nations in the name of the US since independence.
The 1700s. Whereas the last skirmishes of the Indian Wars ended after WWI. Europeans invaded the sovereign nations that were already here and then the US, after independence, continued to expand westward into places where people already lived.
Howbout you go reread their comment and do some math.
The Wounded Knee Massacre which ended tribal resistance and completed the conquest of their land happened in 1890, and then the "Renegade period" went on until 1924.
Holy fucking shit too many of you talk about shit you do not understand. The US is still occupying those lands and intends to eradicate Native American nations. If you also actually read my comment, you'd see that the person above was trying to explain something (inadequately) that was outside the scope of what I was addressing.
Would be absolutely amazing for some 3rd world country, to just casually imprison Trump, stating "We'll control USA for now". If no one intervenes in this, then no one should intervene in that.
Honestly, having oil reserves is a national security issue at this point. Until they find a way to cheaply ruin oil reserves, no country is safe from the US.
If you want to defeat us, peace hasn’t worked but starvation sure as hell will.
As I've already replied elsewhere where you(?)'ve also spammed this comment, Trump doesn't have friends.
Trump has parasites who take advantage of his stupidity, narcissism, and pettiness, and now also his dementia. And I suppose at some point, before he was so far gone, he might have had marks he was talking advantage of.
He's psychologically incapable of friendship; he'll betray anyone without a second thought the instant they're no longer of benefit to him, or someone convinces him to, which these days doesn't take much effort.
And he'll die before (knowingly) helping anyone for free.
If he can't give Trump something shiny enough, Maduro is fucked, no matter how much of a friend he might believe him to be.
I could see that, but let's not attribute this to Trump. His dementia has him checked out most days. This is down to his handlers whispering in his ear.
However it means Trump accidentally did something right, which will make him even more insufferable. And he might get ideas of doing it to other countries.
You mean Maduro's boots? There's a reason 90% of Venezuelans out there are celebrating regardless of what happens next. Taking out a dictator is a good thing even if it ends in civil war.
There are around 29M citizens in Venezuela. And around 330,000 people of Venezuelans decent in Florida. Even if 100% of the ladder agreed, that wouldn't even account for 1.5% of the Venezuelan population. Why does their opinion matter more than that of the 29M people who are actually there?
You're getting downvoted, but what I've heard of the occasion is basically this. It's upsetting because Trump absolutely did something horrendous - but this time to a horrendous person. It's definitely a case of him trying to apply abuses to justify abuses.
Would you describe China attacking North Korea or Cambodia or another SE Asian dictatorship to depose their leadership as "accidentally doing something right"?
The how does matter. You can appreciate the removal of a despot and still oppose unilateral regime change by force--especially one so explicitly motivated by resource exploitation. This is very different from the UN-sanctioned and NATO-led intervention that deposed Gaddafi.
I completely agree with you on all of those points. The present Venezuela invasion is totally heinous in my book.
Acting like Xi invading North Korea is the same thing as VZ is where I totally disagree with you.
Assuming the Chinese were to make a modicum of effort to prevent mass famine, I see the possible humanitarian boon as outweighing the international-relations consequences. Or to frame it differently, the crimes against humanity that North Korea has committed give China a valid casus belli.
Staying would be a really, really bad idea. Venezuelans massively hate Maduro, but a military occupation would be a different thing. The best course of action would be to allow Edmundo González, the closest thing to a legitimately elected president, to return and take over leadership until further political reform can be done, followed by new elections.
