I think they do actually. They just showed support for Greenland and has publicly said they are slowly breaking away from trade deals with the US.

Europe is the obvious new partner and both sides would benefit alot.

Canada is for sure also looking at the tech side. And with the open source approach from the EU, they too can benefit.

FWIW last year was the first year I’ve ever had website clients specifically request to be hosted in Canada. Word is getting around that the traditional tech stack is more precarious than once believed.

I would be curious to find out why, honestly. Is there some economic factor? Has Adobe thoroughly captured the market? Is it cultural? I know the comment author speculates that it's a cultural/political shift, but I'm curious what the data would show!

Were the US contributions from corporations? Otherwise I am unsure why.

I think you're right, but the war is inspired by tech.

China and the US are competing in the AI arms race. If they wanted to help the world forward, they would be in an AI collaboration, recognizing that AI can help us forward, but is also a risk that needs regulation. Instead they are in a race, because whoever wins can dominate the world. Whether the motivation is to dominate the world, or out of fear of being dominated by the other, suspecting that's what they want to, both will do whatever it takes to win the race. And whatever it takes is more than just pumping data and energy into the project. Millitary might can and will be used.

International collaboration is key, AI needs not be in the hands of a company or goverment, it should be in the hands of the united nations or something similar. Sadly I don't think that will happen any time soon,
