Even without the projection distortion, Greenland is pretty big. It's more than 3 times larger than France. But it's definitely not as large as the US as it seems in the projection.

Using any kind nuclear force ends in a global apocalypse. Thousands or scenarios and simulations were run on this topic for the past several decades, and the result is always the same. Whoever start shooting nukes for whatever reason, it doesn’t matter at the end. There is always escalation by other parties, and most of humanity dies.

Uhhh....the coverup worked. I'm 42, and this is the first I've ever heard that we nuked Greenland. I feel like that SHOULD be common knowledge, but I'm willing to bet if I ask 100 random people, 0 will think I'm telling the truth if I told them we've nuked Greenland before.

I mean, it’s not accurate to say we nuked them, as no nuclear detonation occurred. We did contaminate the area with radiation and likely harmed the Danish workers assisting in the cleanup.

I had no idea and am fairly well read. I knew we(understandably,) tried to nuke north carolins with two hydrogen bombs. They did not go off so they declared an oopsie but may have never found one.
Then portugal there was an accident, sent armed forces to clean it up with no warning or gear and they all got cancer.

We've been on the brink of nuclear annihilation multiple times but always escaped fate because there were calm cool smart heads that intervened. Those heads are gone, it's now all removed narcissists.

The two times we evaded nuclear hellfire were in the 60s and 80s. And in both those cases it was the Soviets who kept their cool and realized that it was a technical error that gave a false positive.
I don't think anyone in either government is cool enough to do that today.

Nah, the US is well-accustomed to handling that sort of thing, done it dozens of times already. What is different is that now it's imperialistic violence against a purported ally, a NATO country. If he invades, this will certainly have knock-on effects later, and I hope it leads to the destruction of the US as a global power eventually - that would be at least one silver lining.
It's similar to how his admin is using the genocidal violence usually designated for poor global south countries, at home, on US citizens. Same tactics, different targets.

The US already has direct colonial control over NATO. NATO is fully committed to not let Russia invade Greenland or setup oil rigs off the coast, and it is absurd to suggest that Russia or China are patrolling Greenland or have any desire to attempt to take their resources without cooperation. But the US would get NATO's help for defense of Greenland, and NATO would permit greater US contribution to NATO command bases there, or obey orders to contribute more themselves.
Trump, in addition to repeating the false China/Russia threat, has admitted zero interest in Greenland's resources. They are too far away and extremely expensive to develop. This leaves only a single possible motive for needing US control over Greenland: The absolute certainty that EU will disobey US orders for greater submission and the need to directly threaten them from closer distance. There is no offensive missile threat to Russia provided by Greenland relative to other NATO territory.
