oh shit i gotta warn everybody about 9/11

Whostosay@sh.itjust.works · 25 pts · 203d (1 reply)

I wanna do a show like 11/22/63 or whatever the date is, and instead of JFK it's save harambee and save the timeline.

jaybone@lemmy.zip · 9 pts · 203d

Harambe is woke DEI fake news propaganda

ArgumentativeMonotheist@lemmy.world · 23 pts · 203d (2 replies)

You'd be arrested for 1)illegal time travelling; 2)ruining the American false flag op that allowed for the invasion of the Middle East!

Signtist@bookwyr.me · 5 pts · 202d

That's why Trump's smart - he knows that the American people are fine with invasions without any explanation at all!

BeardededSquidward@lemmy.blahaj.zone · 3 pts · 202d

Not false flag but they did let it happen as a convenient excuse to invade the middle east, especially as a pretext for Iraq, for their resources.

Bishma@discuss.tchncs.de · 50 pts · 203d (9 replies)

I usually had the fastest CD burner available. Bought my discs in 50 packs.

ArsonButCute@lemmy.dbzer0.com · 45 pts · 203d (7 replies)

Convenience is a 52x disc burner which can burn a disc in less than a minute

Wisdom is burning at 1x anyway because it results in a higher quality burn

(this may not apply to burning music, I usually burn PSX games)

partial_accumen@lemmy.world · 11 pts · 203d (2 replies)

(this may not apply to burning music, I usually burn PSX games)

The original 23 wire modchip installation was not for the faint of heart.

ArsonButCute@lemmy.dbzer0.com · 10 pts · 203d (1 reply)

You can do the swap trick once to make a freepsxboot memory card now. It's essentially a soft-modded ps1.

fantacyde@lemmy.blahaj.zone · 1 pts · 202d

happy squeak noise ahh Swap Disk! Memories :)

can@sh.itjust.works · 6 pts · 203d (1 reply)

I burned out my Wii disc drive by playing too many ganes burned too quickly.

ArsonButCute@lemmy.dbzer0.com · 4 pts · 203d

I don't think my Wii disc drive does anything but rip games nowadays, I can't remember the last time I put in a disc to play the game on there.

rustydrd@sh.itjust.works · 5 pts · 203d (1 reply)

Back in my day, we used the 52x to burn 52 discs simultaneously at 1x speed.

skisnow@lemmy.ca · 6 pts · 203d

Well acshually… anything above 6x wasn’t actually what it said on the tin. CD data starts from the inside ring, and there’s a physical limit to how fast you can spin a plastic plate before it tears itself apart. So you only got the full 52x speed at the very last part of the burn on the outer ring, and even then only if you filled the whole disk.

zod000@lemmy.dbzer0.com · 3 pts · 202d

Same here, I probably still have some sealed spindles of black discs hiding on boxes.

night_petal@lemmy.zip · 37 pts · 203d (10 replies)

I have to say that one of my biggest regrets in life is spending about 3,000 BTC on pizza. I'd be a millionaire or more if I wasn't drunk and in my first apartment.

Jankatarch@lemmy.world · 29 pts · 203d (5 replies)

Brag about how you spent 3000 BTC on pizza to EVERYONE to make up for it. Hell, start an alpha male podcast just to flex on the internet. If 2 luxury cars are enough surely that pizza is too.

night_petal@lemmy.zip · 55 pts · 203d (4 replies)

So, since I am female, starting an alpha male podcast might be the most sigma move ever 🤔

andros_rex@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 202d

slappyfuck@lemmy.ca · 12 pts · 203d (1 reply)

Do not despair. If you hadn’t spent that 3,000 BTC on pizza, it never would have been worth anything to begin with.

zod000@lemmy.dbzer0.com · 1 pts · 202d

Now it's extra tragic. They should have just made a meal at home and stopped crypto.

Azrael@reddthat.com · 10 pts · 202d

3000 BTC? That's about $354,000,000 (ish) at the time of writing this.

explodicle@sh.itjust.works · 5 pts · 202d

Everybody who bought pizza back then paid the same opportunity cost.

My childhood! A friend named Derek and everything! I was even the one who'd be most likely to hit my head testing ramps we made out in the woods for our bikes lol

Toastmaster2000@lemmy.world · 10 pts · 203d

Hell yeah, I built BMX ramps in the woods with my neighbor too!

skisnow@lemmy.ca · 3 pts · 203d

What’s weird is I saw this meme a couple of years ago with the same photo but the kid’s name was Cody. I don’t know what happened in between then and OP, I can only assume some in-joke that got lost

SpruceBringsteen@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 202d (1 reply)

So you hung out in the woods, ate ramps, and earned bikes in some sort of make out competition?

Not judging, but I think this might be a somewhat singular upbringing you experienced.

Asafum@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 202d

What can I say, I have Italian ancestry so I love garlic! That's what made it a competition as well, who could take the garlic breath the longest got a bike!

lastweakness@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 202d (1 reply)

You made out in the woods?

Asafum@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 202d

With the ramps. Dirt ramps don't kiss very well though...

Fizz@lemmy.nz · 25 pts · 203d

I miss getting home from rugby Saturday morning jumping on my bike and going house to house knocking on the door and in the most polite voice asking if my friend could please come hangout and stay the night. Each house the party size would increase then id finally get back to my house and all my friends would crowd around a tiny TV and we'd play wwe with a multi tap, 4 player splitscreen or die tries on a single player game for like 1 or 2 hours before my mum came and told us we had had enough time in front of screens and needed to go play outside.

Fun times

Lost_My_Mind@lemmy.world · 25 pts · 203d (3 replies)

These kids work in accounting, sales, and one is in jail.

I'll let you figure out who went where.

WhyIHateTheInternet@lemmy.world · 40 pts · 203d (2 replies)

100% kid in the middle is in jail. Sales on the left, accounting on the right.

PacMan@sh.itjust.works · 11 pts · 203d (1 reply)

Spot on! Dude on the right also probably did a few tours in the sandbox.

WhyIHateTheInternet@lemmy.world · 4 pts · 202d

The Deftones shirt and the rage shirt gave it away. The kid wearing rage was obviously a poser and ended up in sales. I'm not sure what the shirt in the middle is but you can just tell on his face he's gonna get busted doing some dumb shit. Your point makes sense as well, Deftones fit that style for sure.

yermaw@sh.itjust.works · 16 pts · 202d

Barely a day goes by that I dont hope this happens

beerclue@lemmy.world · 15 pts · 203d (3 replies)

Cradle of Filth! I used to have some shorts with their logo :))

addie@feddit.uk · 6 pts · 203d

Saw them at a festival a couple of years back. They know they're a bit cheesy and play into it, but they're a tight band and can still smash out all their hits.

Now, the fact that the festival could hardly afford anyone else because Filth were headlining, that was a problem, but it did mean that a few lesser-known bands got to play a decent set, so it's all good I suppose.

Passerby6497@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 202d

Thank you! I couldn't read the shirt and was wondering what the middle one was.

steeznson@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 202d

Senseless@feddit.org · 5 pts · 203d (5 replies)

tbf I noticed this trend partly. Especially with the baggy pants.

python@lemmy.world · 6 pts · 203d (4 replies)

Baggy pants would be one thing, but the kids around here are wearing these gigantic jeans that are somehow the perfect length to not crinkle up anywhere, making them look like they just have super thick cylindrical legs. Honestly, it's pretty unique and I kinda like the look.

(I couldn't even find a good image online of what I mean because I don't know the word for it, but this is the closest approximation. Imagine the jeans were stiffer and straighter though, absolutely zero wrinkles)

Senseless@feddit.org · 3 pts · 203d (2 replies)

Weird. I never got fashion trends. Then again, when I was the age the boys above are I looked more or less the same as them, only fatter. Absolutely hideous :D

DaGeek247@fedia.io · 3 pts · 202d (1 reply)

Savage garden? Not gonna pretend I didnt listen to them, but not during n64 nights with the buds.

No judgement, but they are a different vibe from the bands on those shirts.

It's a joke that the reality we're in isn't real. Someone like me who grew up in the 90s just woke up from a fall and all this was a dream. So we're back in the 90s when life was simpler and we're going back to a friend's house to play Tony Hawk and burn music cd's.

doingthestuff@lemy.lol · 5 pts · 202d (3 replies)

The kid on the right looks fine.

The one in the middle just needs to do something with the hair. sure he's got a lot bracelets, and his pants are too long, but he'll trip over them enough to eventually figure it out.

The left one went a bit far the with pointless chain, but that his taste not mine, so whatever. But the again the hair is bad. I'm not saying it's got to be neatly flat or something, but but some effort into it, throw in some actuall spikes, or a mowhak or anything really. Bed head ain't it. The kid on the right, he takes care of his hair.
