Acid certainly changed my life for the better. I used to stress out about everything. I still stress out about things now, but I have the heads-up knowledge that all of reality is a fragile thread of consciousness where my brain is tricking itself into viewing and interpreting the world around me as a stable, solid thing, when the truth is that reality is as subjective as you want it to be.
There are no rules. You can make up and do whatever you want.
Then I stop worrying about why I got a $5 fee for some bullshit from my bank I'll have to call them about tomorrow.
I've never done any, but I used to work with someone who said he used to work with someone who had been a heavy acid user back in the day, but stopped.
The intermediary said that the original user would occasionally stretch, popping his vertebrae, then have to take a brief timeout as he'd released essentially a microdose.
I don't know enough about drugs to know if that's plausible (and haven't thought about this anecdote in years) but the idea of having an unexpected trip at any moment always sounded very worrying.
i was a closed minded little fuckin prick till i saw i was a little piece of Zeus, little piece of paper letting me see im actually a big piece of Zeus
I actually think everyone should have to do two things before they hit their mid-20s in order to fix most of the problems of the world:
The first is to take a hallucinogen. Get out of your own head for a minute and see the world from a different perspective. Too many of us can't do this.
The second is to work as a server in a restaurant. Nuff said.
I do go outside and I do know what acid is but this post makes "doing acid" sound like doing drugs or something but even if that's how they are "get addicted to acid" then that would be really harmful to them that's how I understand this post and I know most likely this is wrong explanation so that's why I'm seeking answer
I don't think this post is implying "addiction" at all. I think it is more referring to the fact that taking any hallucinogen at such a young age is a bad idea because your brain is still developing. The drug is likely affecting brain development in some way or another.
LSD and shrooms are not addictive, and they actually have some really good outcomes for certain mental illnesses, such as depression and PTSD. I know several people who were suicidal and depressed teenagers whose entire outlook on life changed after one trip at a somewhat young age.
LSD is fucking boring. There, I said it. People say 'on acid' to mean crazy, unhinged and over-the-top but it just makes you notice things like shapes more and you have to specifically remember to swing your arms when you walk.
Boring compared to what, PCP? Every trip I've had has been enjoyable. Yeah I didn't see talking dragons or whatever but I had a shitload of fun spending the day in the woods with my friends watching the trees branch off and wondering about the nature of reality. I also got really fucking good at Rocket League for like 2 hours.

I never did acid and I'm still a worthless sack of shit so maybe the acid has nothing to do with anything.
Vupware@lemmy.zip · 23 pts · 194d
Doing acid could change your perception of yourself for the better, if you go in with the right intentions and expectations.
That being said, I’ve never done acid or shrooms, although I very much want to.

The trip doesn't fully end until you go to sleep.

That's been studied before, and IIRC, is not plausible, but is "acid lore".
Edit: Ah, here we go. Yeah, it's all bullshit, like I thought. It's just people making up stories unfortunately.

TIL - thank you for the insight.

Eh, I sometimes think that had I not ridden the magic carpet back in the day, I'd probably would not have progressed nearly as much in life.

No thanks, I'm capable of having empathy without experiencing the hell of working customer service first-hand
glibg@lemmy.ca · 2 pts · 193d
Agreed, but sometime between 22-25 would be best. Hallucinogens at too young an age can be detrimental, as this meme alludes to.

You know all those pink and yellow suburban hells in Tim Burton movies?
I'm just asking, it's not relevant to the meme.

guys what does doing acid means? I don't understand (I'm fr I don't understand)
Kolanaki@pawb.social · 9 pts · 194d
Lysergic acid diethylamide, aka LSD.
ghost_rider69@thelemmy.club · 0 pts · 194d
What
Kolanaki@pawb.social · 2 pts · 193d
Yeah, I am confused about the acronym too. They use the L and S from lysergic instead of calling it LAD 🤷♂️

If you really wanna see talking dragons, you have to go to a furry convention. You don't even have to be high!
