TIL there's a trend called hobby dogging where people take an imaginary dog through an obstacle course.

Don’t call it that to any British people, though, as to them, “dogging” has a very different meaning.
Codpiece@feddit.uk · 55 pts · 186d
But it is still a hobby.
PhobosAnomaly@feddit.uk · 16 pts · 186d
All fourteen seconds of it, anyway.
Ten of those seconds are apologising, too.
matelt@feddit.uk · 5 pts · 186d
it's a right giggle though!

I've never seen a HTTP error 451 before.
RobotToaster@mander.xyz · 21 pts · 186d
It's specifically a reference to Fahrenheit 451 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HTTP_451
northernlights@lemmy.today · 4 pts · 186d
Damn me neither. Didn't even know it existed. So specific.
tja@sh.itjust.works · 10 pts · 186d
You probably also want to learn about 418 then
northernlights@lemmy.today · 6 pts · 186d
That one I knew ;) I think from the 1st month of my CS major in college from a teacher who thought that would be a good way to wake us up when explaining HTTP codes.

Air guitar for people without pets.
Sunsofold@lemmings.world · 7 pts · 186d
Is a pet even involved for air guitar?
slickgoat@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 185d
Only if you want to do it correctly..
northernlights@lemmy.today · 12 pts · 186d
I really don't know what to think of this. Is it cute? Sad? Should they talk to a therapist and take their meds or are they fine?
Rhynoplaz@lemmy.world · 12 pts · 186d
Honestly, they probably are working through something, but if this helps that, and it certainly isn't hurting anybody else, I wish them the best.
essell@lemmy.world · 5 pts · 186d
I think it's the people who don't play who should get the meds!
MissJinx@lemmy.world · 4 pts · 186d
i mean sometimes we see people doing stuff and we know they have issues and for sure need some help, BUT, they could be dealing with it in a way worst way, so I don't mind. You go imaginary dog people.
spittingimage@lemmy.world · 7 pts · 186d
Makes as much sense as fantasy football.
rhythmisaprancer@piefed.social · 6 pts · 186d
People can say what they will, but I see this as a great option for folks who shouldn't have a dog (or can't) but would otherwise benefit from social interaction. @tacotroubles@lemmy.world mentioned a beer league version. Fantastic! So many ways to wrap this instead of wrapping it as cooky or with an agenda in mind.
pinball_wizard@lemmy.zip · 2 pts · 186d
I assumed that would be the default. Haha.
kbal@fedia.io · 5 pts · 186d
I remember when "dogging" was the hobby everyone was talking about. When was that, 2015 maybe? Good times.
whyNotSquirrel@sh.itjust.works · 3 pts · 186d
like 2years ago or something then
webp@mander.xyz · 5 pts · 186d
Why not get fun with it and put a balloon or something on the leash?
blimthepixie@lemmy.dbzer0.com · 4 pts · 186d
I really like the shrek edit from Crufts
https://youtu.be/bioP_2e_xls
zikzak025@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 186d
That one's impressive because they actually took footage of a real dog and edited it out so well, it doesn't look like anything is amiss when Shrek is pasted over it.
blimthepixie@lemmy.dbzer0.com · 2 pts · 186d
How long would that have taken to do? It's pretty clean
zikzak025@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 186d
Probably several years of education and/or practice
Etterra@lemmy.org · 3 pts · 186d
And here I thought that was just a joke from the Jimmy Kimball show.
tacotroubles@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 186d
I bet it would be a great beer league. Get a little sloshed then you take your invisible cockerdoodle through the course!
vivalapivo@lemmy.today · 2 pts · 186d
Hobby dogging is not that weird. Look for hobby motocross
rants_unnecessarily@piefed.social · 3 pts · 186d
And hobby horse is a thing too. Don't see anything wrong with this.
vivalapivo@lemmy.today · 1 pts · 186d
Wrong? Nothing wrong here, just weird
Quilotoa@lemmy.ca · 1 pts · 186d
Seriously?
vivalapivo@lemmy.today · 0 pts · 186d
I live to see hobby sexing and hobby warefarring
SlightlyNormal@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 185d
That's an amusing article, but I wonder why is the link to an American small-town newspaper site covering a German hobby?
Gonzako@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 186d
Damn, guess they don't want me there
bluesheep@sh.itjust.works · 7 pts · 186d
Me neither it looks like
MonkderVierte@lemmy.zip · 2 pts · 186d
No such thing here (Swiss).
But fine (careful; ads preserved too).
bluesheep@sh.itjust.works · 2 pts · 186d
Ooh didn't know uBlock stopped that error. I'm on mobile atm so that's probably the reason
incompetent@programming.dev · 1 pts · 186d
uBlock Origin works on Firefox for Android.
Quilotoa@lemmy.ca · 1 pts · 185d
You could just power down for a while.

Maybe the Westminster kennel club dog show can host.
