Well, you only need the light when it's burning low
Only miss the sun when it starts to snow
Only know you love her when you let her go
Only know you've been high when you're feeling low
Only hate the road when you're missing home
Only know you love her when you let her go
And I feel the beat inside of me and I
(I can't help it, I won't help it)
And I feel the need to move my feet and i
(I can't help it nooo)
So I'm gonna dance,
While I'm waiting for Shane,
I'm gonna dance,
While I'm waiting for wayne,
I'm gonna dance,
While I'm waiting for fonzie,
Dancing Like a lunatic and nothing can stop me...

Probably the most ironic answer possible: "Turn it Off" from the musical The Book of Mormon. Literally a song about shutting out inconvenient or distressing thoughts.
Largely because of music recommendations on YouTube: Holiday by Green Day, specifically the intro, and He's a Pirate, the theme from Pirates of the Caribbean
At the same time. There's a similar kind of bounce to both of them and I think my brain is trying to cram them in the same bucket.
"Music to install software to", and I mean that in an endearing way. Feels like it'd be at home in a movie montage where the protagonists are smugly infiltrating a computer system (but it's the middle of the movie so it's eventually going to go wrong after the montage is over).
I have been listening to it a lot recently and the last couple lines "lies in their blood" "are you gonna wait til they lie in their blood?" stuck on repeat in my head for a long time.
A couple have been rotating through. Oh Lord and another one I can’t remember the title of (ETA:) Dreamer by Foxy Shazam and After Destruction by Descartes a Kant. Probably because I saw them a couple weeks ago. Good show!
In 2002, there was a game called Naval Ops: Commander. It's a warship simulator game, with the tweak that you could build your own warships out of an assortment of parts. I don't think I've played it in 20ish years. Definitely more than 15.
Yeah, the Main Hangar (essentially, your 'home screen' once you'd selected a playthrough) Theme is on loop right now. The ending ~10 seconds of it, to be specific.
They're amazing. They only have one album out at the moment, but I am so keen for their next.
If you like them, then Kingfishr might be another one to look in to. Also saw them in concert last week. They are less refined, but I put it down to them being so young and more rock.

Hello darkness, my old friend
The disturbed version is nice, but doesn’t contain the same energy of the original.
glimse@lemmy.world · 4 pts · 157d
The Disturbed version is so dorky it feels like a parody to me. Its popularity is one of the biggest mysteries in music.
zo0@programming.dev · 2 pts · 157d
Same with behind blue eyes cover by limp bizkit. They are both watered down version of the original, yet more popular
glimse@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 157d
Yikes, luckily my ears have been spared that cover.
Remember those couple of years when every movie trailer had a young woman softly singing a pop cover in a minor key?

Remember? Did it ever stop? I don't understand the obsession with making a worse version of something that already exists. Go make your own music
