Each Stargate show/movie took place in the same time period it was released. So I guess by now, it would all technically be "near past", but it was meant to be "present" at the time
I'm pretty sure you can headcannon Stargate to link Star Wars to Star Trek.
Star Wars shows alien worlds in the distant past with advanced technology, Stargate shows modern people discovering that ancient alien technology and starting to become aware of the wider universe (iirc) and Star Trek shows people in the future that have become a part of that wider universe

There should be a com for this.

Sure when you watch something out of order it is bound to make no sense!
BluJay320@lemmy.blahaj.zone · 42 pts · 158d
Obviously it’s Star Wars (a long time ago), Stargate (near future), Star Trek (far future)
West_of_West@piefed.social · 18 pts · 158d
Is Stargate not the near past? They just haven't revealed it to our contemporary selves.

You watched them in the wrong farken order
IAmNorRealTakeYourMeds@lemmy.world · 21 pts · 158d
Stargate, where they discovered the gate to the stars
Star trek where they travel the universe and meet new civilizations
Star wars is then those interstellar civilisations go into wars.
Makes perfect sense
hansolo@lemmy.today · 3 pts · 158d
100% agree with this.
An epic tale of finding the way to then seek out new life and new civilizations...and kill them.

Reminds me of when I watched half of the first season of The Expanse only to realize I accidentally started with season four.
I really did think the writers were giving the viewer too much credit. They wanted me to read between the lines a LOT.

Wouldn't you start with a gate, which leads you to a trek, which leads you to a war.
SubArcticTundra@lemmy.ml · 8 pts · 158d
Or perhaps you're fleeing— trekking— to the gate from the war
ivanafterall@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 158d
The war is over the gate, the trek home comes after.

Tell me about it, watching these three did my head in:

Because you skipped right over The Iron Giant and missed how Iron Man became The Iron Lady.
ivanafterall@lemmy.world · 20 pts · 158d
It only gets harder to follow from there.

It’s wild that there is this vertical line motif in OP’s trilogy and a three head motif in yours

I think the entire Rocky franchise went off the rails with The Rocky Horror Picture Show. It didn't even have any boxing in it.

Well of course it doesn't make sense, it's an anthology series.

I love a good anthology series. Can be confusing as hell though.

Stay sober and watched this trilogy. Made no fucking sense.

I was high when I first watched Star Trek: The Motion Picture. And yeah, it made no sense, but I think that would have been true regardless.
Atomic@sh.itjust.works · 6 pts · 158d
Wrong order...
Star Gate, they find it and go through, Star Trek, the hike begins, Star Wars, they found new enemies that wanted to kill them.

What about Star Whores?

the musical version of the other one? I still think about the songs from the musical.
On the same note, Ever see the x rated 1977 cinderella musical? the one with the "snapping pussy" musical number?

that the fairy godmother was a black drag queen fairy godmother was pretty avante guarde for its time.
