Based on that * looks like he might be adding more songs to that list. 🙃

Rentlar@lemmy.ca · 60 pts · 133d

Time to add cbat

NottaLottaOcelot@lemmy.ca · 7 pts · 132d

He was in high school, I’m sure he could be finished in 3 minutes. No need for more songs

SpaceNoodle@lemmy.world · 71 pts · 133d (27 replies)

Damn, y'all young

henfredemars@infosec.pub · 37 pts · 133d (10 replies)

This. That song came out yesterday.

SpaceNoodle@lemmy.world · 12 pts · 133d (8 replies)

Seriously, I remember doing an audio-focuaed tech demo to some basic PM whose favorite band was Imagine Dragons and at the time wondering how much life was left in my career

ChickenLadyLovesLife@lemmy.world · 6 pts · 132d (1 reply)

I've been hearing people rip on Imagine Dragons forever but I had no idea what their music sounded like, so I went and did a deep dive on them a couple of years ago. I was like "wait a minute, I've heard all of these songs -- how is that possible?" Then I realized I've heard them all while grocery shopping late at night.

Banana@sh.itjust.works · 4 pts · 132d

It all started with that stupid stomp-clap phase they had

henfredemars@infosec.pub · 4 pts · 133d (5 replies)

I’ve got a product demo presentation to give about this time tomorrow. I’m not sure if our soulless corporate music is any better.

I don’t feel old, but I see this old guy in the mirror.

SpaceNoodle@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 133d

Oh, hello, me.

I made the mistake of preloading classical music. Nobody but nerds and perverts likes Mozart, apparently.

If you can, just play what you like. Expose them to a tiny bit of reality.

SlurpingPus@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 132d (3 replies)

Boy, do I have music for you. But, judging by the timestamp, it's a bit too late.

henfredemars@infosec.pub · 2 pts · 129d (1 reply)

This is perfect!!

SlurpingPus@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 129d

Music like that was actually used in product presentation videos — and still is sometimes. The libraries mentioned on that page sell readymade music for use in films/tv, advertisement or whatever. KPM are the most widely known, I think: there are lots of their music on YouTube, including entire discs.

Famously, ‘Ren and Stimpy’, ‘Curb Your Enthusiasm’ and ‘It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia’ use old library music for their soundtracks.

henfredemars@infosec.pub · 1 pts · 132d

Hey, I’ll still give it a listen tonight after work!

RaphaelSchmitz@feddit.org · 6 pts · 132d

Yeah it's not like it's 14 years old or something like that!

Rusty@lemmy.ca · 20 pts · 133d (9 replies)

I'm so old, I recognize all the jokes about how shitty Imagine Dragons as the jokes about Nickelback.

ChickenLadyLovesLife@lemmy.world · 5 pts · 132d (7 replies)

I'm trying to think of which band was the early '80s equivalent of Nickelback. I'd probably say Journey but today's kids wouldn't believe it since their reputation has improved recently.

mech@feddit.org · 3 pts · 132d
SlurpingPus@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 132d (2 replies)

Kenny G.

ChickenLadyLovesLife@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 132d

Good call, he's a candidate for sure.

oxideseven@lemmy.ca · 1 pts · 131d

This for sure. Referencing Kenny G was a daily occurrence.

Skanky@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 132d (1 reply)

The band you're trying to think of is Winger

ChickenLadyLovesLife@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 132d

Nah, Winger was just part of the army of interchangeable hair metal pop bands. I'd say Bon Jovi before I said them.

helpImTrappedOnline@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 132d

Early journey, before Perry joined, was definitely an interesting era.

SpaceNoodle@lemmy.world · 5 pts · 133d

As a fellow old, I gotta say - actually, yeah.

hansolo@lemmy.today · 3 pts · 132d (1 reply)

Seriously. I installed Win95 on the family machine on high school, and I felt late to the game.

SpaceNoodle@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 132d

Win 3.11 was working just fine until support started falling off.

I recall it started being a real pain in the ass to run DOS games after that point.

QuinnyCoded@sh.itjust.works · 0 pts · 132d (3 replies)

you're just an unc hehe

SpaceNoodle@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 132d (2 replies)

Wat

QuinnyCoded@sh.itjust.works · 0 pts · 132d (1 reply)

I'm calling you old lol

SpaceNoodle@lemmy.world · -3 pts · 132d

OK. I already implied I'm old. That's like me calling you an idiot - it's not wrong, but it's already quite evident.

TheTechnician27@lemmy.world · 45 pts · 133d (8 replies)

Why go to the effort of creating a playlist when you only need one song?

friendlycheese@lemmy.world · 13 pts · 133d

Sad that I knew what it was before clicking

MidsizedSedan@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 132d

I would vote for this one

CaptPretentious@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 132d

Man I forgot about that! 😆

wreckedcarzz@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 132d

Play it at family get-togethers! Fuck your gf to it! Post about it on the internet! What's the worst that c- oh.

SlurpingPus@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 132d (2 replies)

Ironically, Hudson Mohawke has been a figure in idm and instrumental hiphop for ages, releasing his stuff on the legendary label Warp (same that Aphex Twin mostly releases through), having founded a label of his own, having produced records for Kanye West and other rappers back in the early 2010s. But some people think he came up with the viral ‘Cbat’ thing to get ‘famous’ in some way.

TheTechnician27@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 132d (1 reply)

I also saw that in the YouTube comments, which is dumb as shit. People on Reddit are far too credulous, but this time, they dug through the OP's history and pretty unanimously decided it was real. I personally looked and agreed; it lines up too well. You don't develop a Reddit history over two years that lines up behaviorally and stylistically with a fake, batshit TIFU post you hope will go viral (wildly inconsistent on Reddit by that time even for really good posts) hoping to use it as an ad for your music. The chances it's fake are very slim; the chances it was orchestrated by Mohawke aren't even worth considering.

SlurpingPus@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 132d

Also, the most popular uploads of ‘Cbat’ on YouTube combined have 15.8 million views, and YouTube pays out something between 0.002 and 0.005 bucks per stream (probably on the lower side for music). So this whole culmination of his musical career would've brought him somewhere from 31 to 79 kilobucks over the past three and a half years from YouTube, and likely even less from other services.

tatterdemalion@programming.dev · 2 pts · 132d

It has a very recognizable rhythm and tempo.

Kolanaki@pawb.social · 40 pts · 133d (2 replies)

I've fucked to Radioactive.

Not great. Pretty sure it wasn't the song tho, but I don't think it helped.

Mistic@lemmy.world · 16 pts · 133d

Clearly should've used cbat

a_non_monotonic_function@lemmy.world · 11 pts · 133d

It reduced like 69 sex points before you even got out of your pants. Sorry.

Banana@sh.itjust.works · 22 pts · 133d (16 replies)

Fools not realizing the best sex music is and always will be Deftones.

It's a good song. First time I've seen it mentioned online in any cintext tbh

Banana@sh.itjust.works · 6 pts · 133d

Oh damn I love massive attack, great choice.

Idk if it can beat Cbat

ChickenLadyLovesLife@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 132d

Agree with Massive Attack, but I'd go for this song. I mean, Massive Attack v. Mazzy Star -- how could you not?

blanket@sh.itjust.works · 8 pts · 133d (2 replies)

Im a sucker for a good male moan tbh lmao

Rai@lemmy.dbzer0.com · 2 pts · 132d (5 replies)

I’ve always had Thriftworks’ “Fader” as best doin it playlist. I love love love Deftones (they played the longest live set I’ve ever been to, almost three hours and it was AMAZING) but I don’t see them as doin’ it music.

Banana@sh.itjust.works · 2 pts · 132d (4 replies)

Thats totally fair! Ill check out thay thriftworks album when I get a chance.

Everyones got their taste as far as doin it music goes

Rai@lemmy.dbzer0.com · 2 pts · 132d (3 replies)

It’s a long electronic album without lyrics, but full of weird, slow, organic, sometimes wet? melodies and bass and stuff.

Favorite Deftones album(s)?

Banana@sh.itjust.works · 2 pts · 132d (2 replies)

Oh sick, like wet as in reverb? I love that.

As far as deftones goes, I do have Around the Fur on vinyl so I tend to go for that one but I love Adrenaline, Whie Pony, Koi No Yokan, and their new album private music is pretty good!

Honestly I don't think they have any bad albums.

Rai@lemmy.dbzer0.com · 2 pts · 132d (1 reply)

Ooo Around the Fur is a great one to have on Vinyl! Whit Pony is tied for me. Agreed on the no-bad-albums, but those two really stick out to me. I’ve only seen them play once, and it was a bit after they released their self-titled. They played pretty much every song from Around the Fur and White Pony, soooo good :3

Banana@sh.itjust.works · 2 pts · 132d

I missed them when they came to my city because I was getting WIDE LOAD tattooed under my ass that day.

Very sad, but no regrets on the tat

I don't know what everybody's laughing about, it's not a good song for sex but it's perfectly fine for potential sex.

CBAT - Hudson Mohawke

jack_of_sandwich@lemmy.sdf.org · 14 pts · 132d (4 replies)

Are they going to update the playlist?

purplemonkeymad@programming.dev · 19 pts · 132d (3 replies)

The star in the window title suggests that they have already made edits to the file that still need to be saved.

mrgoosmoos@lemmy.ca · 3 pts · 132d (1 reply)

nah that's just MS saying you've changed the file because you've observed it

Buddahriffic@lemmy.world · 5 pts · 132d

atomicorange@lemmy.world · 7 pts · 132d (2 replies)

I dated someone in the 90's who later became a cable tv celebrity. I remember that White Zombie's Thrust! was part of the sex playlist. Now everytime I see them on TV all I can think of is busting multiple rubbers while pounding to Thrust!.

Good times.

ThatGuy46475@lemmy.world · 10 pts · 133d

Cbat
