Don't give them ideas.

TachyonTele@piefed.social · 26 pts · 133d (2 replies)

Ideas? I took this picture in 1985!

jaybone@lemmy.zip · 5 pts · 133d (1 reply)

We need to go back.

Lost_My_Mind@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 133d

And now we're living in the "future" the terminator came back in time from. Yes, terminator was running on copilot. Scary, isn't it?

stupidcasey@lemmy.world · 9 pts · 133d

They don't need ideas, notepad is literally a copilot tool now.

They never changed the icon because they know how discussting copilot is but literally every default windows app is now just a skin for copilot.

Not an exaggeration this has already happened we just don't realize it yet.

zaphod@sopuli.xyz · 49 pts · 133d (6 replies)

Where's the copilot copilot?

jaybone@lemmy.zip · 19 pts · 133d (4 replies)

Is that Copilot+ ?

CaptPretentious@lemmy.world · 12 pts · 133d (1 reply)

No, what they're asking for is Copilot^Copilot^

Not to be confused with Copilot, or Copilot+, or Copilot 365, or Copilot Pro, or Github Copilot, or Copilot Studio, or Security Copilot....

osanna@lemmy.vg · 2 pts · 133d

Don't forget Old Copilot and New Copilot!

zaphod@sopuli.xyz · 7 pts · 133d (1 reply)

Would've expected a Copilot# from MS.

jaybone@lemmy.zip · 5 pts · 133d

Or .Copilot which is the same as the other Copilot, except they fucked up all the naming conventions and it only runs on their platform.

Reminder from the Copilot ToS:

Copilot is for entertainment purposes only. It can make mistakes, and it may not work as intended. Don’t rely on Copilot for important advice. Use Copilot at your own risk.

smeenz@lemmy.nz · 5 pts · 133d

Always read the label, talk to your doctor to see if copilot is right for you

Cocopilotpilot

umbraroze@slrpnk.net · 22 pts · 133d (5 replies)

I literally had to write a clock app on my own because Windows clock is pretty bad.

I was thinking that they'll just replace the clock with Copilot eventually.

Windows 11: "It's 11 pm sharp. I know that because I looked at the RTC."

Windows 12: "It's 11 pm sharp. That's a phrase people like to say, apparently."

...Don't give Microsoft any ideas.

mrgoosmoos@lemmy.ca · 3 pts · 133d

I finally had to move to Windows 11, and the UI is just so fucking broken.

I did discover StartAllBack the other day which helped tremendously

like who thought removing the ability to show seconds in the clock flyout was a good choice‽

pretty sure they're already using copilot in the start menu program search. I searched for "not" today because I wanted to open notepad. I got three results, none of which had "not" in their name. like jesus fucking christ that's so bad. one of them literally did not have any of the letters n o or t in the program name.

HeyThisIsntTheYMCA@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 133d

huh, i just downloaded a clock widget because i couldn't put a clock where i want to look for one.

1984@lemmy.today · 2 pts · 133d

You know what that microsoft clock needs? To be rewritten in electron and support a web browser inside. That way, it can easily show ads to increase profits.

What does Copilot Groceries do? Get my groceries? I can get behind that in theory.

raicon@lemmy.world · 24 pts · 133d (2 replies)

999 hamburgers 999 fries 999 cokes

Lumidaub@feddit.org · 13 pts · 133d

Hence "in theory". Get exactly what I order or Microsoft pays the bill.

JasonDJ@lemmy.zip · 7 pts · 133d

"Copilot, order me...uh...us one diet coke"

Ordering -1 diet coke....

...received 65535 diet cokes...

over_clox@lemmy.world · 12 pts · 133d (14 replies)

It probably orders your favorite energy drink with bleach and brake fluid...

homes@piefed.world · 3 pts · 133d (9 replies)

As long as they are packaged separately… I can figure out what to do with the bleach and the brake fluid later.

OwOarchist@pawb.social · 2 pts · 133d (6 replies)

Bleach is useful for cleaning and disinfecting.

Brake fluid dissolves car paint, so it's useful for loading into a super soaker and doing a drive-by spraying of your local new car dealership.

homes@piefed.world · 2 pts · 133d (4 replies)

I use other things for cleaning and disinfecting, but that is some very interesting and new information about brake fluid that I did not know…

OwOarchist@pawb.social · 2 pts · 133d (3 replies)

...probably also dissolves the plastic parts of a super soaker, so ... use with caution.

homes@piefed.world · 2 pts · 133d (2 replies)

Metal woven hose with a metal sprayer, gotcha

Better use a metal tank with a metal pump too, industrial size might be best. One of those giant trucks that’s used for spraying paint everywhere… I’m getting some ideas…hmmmm…

SlurpingPus@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 133d

Industrial metal, you say.

over_clox@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 133d

Wow, someone missed backwoods chemistry class..

Don't ever combine these things together, nothing good will happen... 💀

Lost_My_Mind@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 133d (1 reply)

Bleach is for laundry, and brake fluid goes on a shelf next to the blinker fluid. For when you run out.

homes@piefed.world · 1 pts · 133d

I know what bleach is for, silly. I have never owned anything white (why invite stains?), and I sold the last car I owned in 2007 and I will never ever own another car again. Subway all the way WOOT!

I am certain I could resell whatever quantity I got of both online somewhere to, you know, other people who own those things.

blinker fluid.

lol. Made me think of exploding panels on the Starship Enterprise that were powered by “plasma”

Copilot Drugs also has my interest...

jaybone@lemmy.zip · 3 pts · 133d

Oddly separate from Copilot Pharmacy.

tempest@lemmy.ca · 14 pts · 133d

This is actually a very good example of middle managers in a large organization getting marching orders and seeing which way the wind is blowing.

IBM had a similar thing in the early 2010s when they decided they were all in on "cloud" (about 10 years too late). Every manager saw where things were headed and pivoted whatever their product was to "Cloud" regardless of the suitability.

The higher ups like this too because it lets them put everything under the "cloud" or AI heading on earnings and revenue and makes them look like they are nimble and working on the new hotness, even if it's just someone moving their calculator to a web app or whatever.

altphoto@lemmy.today · 14 pts · 133d (3 replies)

Hey! You wanna try Linux? I just made a new Linux called Copilot Linux. It looks just like copilot! I added suprice actions to make it as natural a transition as possible!

Things like blue screens of death with just a "fucken" QR code! That way you won't miss the original! But the QR code goes to porn hub. See? Its good!

For right now I just released the name github. Sign up and I'll send you ads!

lord_admiral@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 133d

Very interesting! Please tell me, did you forget to build CoPilot into your CoPilot Linux?

Fun fact: Microsoft edge for Linux has a copilot button. But they forgot to implement it, so it just takes space on the menu bar (cannot be removed)

Where do I obtain these Copilot Drugs?

Olgratin_Magmatoe@slrpnk.net · 12 pts · 133d (2 replies)

That's a suspicious question. The Copilot police are on their way to your location.

MnemonicBump@lemmy.dbzer0.com · 4 pts · 133d (2 replies)

Great! Thanks! You've just doomed us to get the Linux Saturn, which will be appreciated by some, but ultimately fail against SuperWindows and Windows 64. After that we'll get something beautiful, the Linux Dreamcast, but it will be too little too late, as just a few months later, Apple releases the MacStation2, which most people buy because it has a DVD player built in, and the Linux Dreamcast kind of just dies... 25 years later, and Linux is making Linux Classics compilations and new games starring Tux for the WindowsSwitch2.

Everybody loves Microslop

GreenKnight23@lemmy.world · 6 pts · 133d (2 replies)

I imagined the entire cast of Everybody Love's Raymond but the scripts were written by copilot entirely and they have the corpses of Doris Roberts and Peter Boyle hanging from wires while copilot voices their characters with different lines than what was in the script.

I mean you could just move your files into the recycle bin. But what if an AI agent would do that for you? It would make your life much easier, think about it for a minute.

So this is what *nix will look like in five years time then. Just needs a terminal open in the screenshot.

OwOarchist@pawb.social · 1 pts · 133d

Even if they for some shit-brained reason do make this the default Linux experience, at least it will all still be configurable and customizable, so you can remove all the AI bullshit relatively easily.
