That's pretty low for a AAA game lol

RightHandOfIkaros@lemmy.world · 17 pts · 130d

Not really when you consider the game is ~3 years old, already released to most of its main playerbase on PC and Xbox, and got a lot of negative press early in its life.

Considering the circumstances, 140k is honestly pretty good.

its not that low for a 2 year old port of a game decimated by the public. im more sad at how little south of midnight is selling. people are missing out

I saw all the bugs it has and decided to finally buy it for PC where I can get community fixes and fun nudy mods.

Since the first round of updates it's less buggy than fallout 4 at least

ParlimentOfDoom@piefed.zip · 25 pts · 130d (1 reply)

... hadn't they heard it wasn't very good?

Damarus@feddit.org · 4 pts · 130d

Probably they haven't actually

140K isn’t bad for 3 year old trash

Beangut@lemmy.world · 4 pts · 130d (9 replies)

Sincere question, is this game worth pirating?

CriticalMiss@lemmy.world · 20 pts · 130d

Sincere answer - no.

nyctre@piefed.social · 9 pts · 130d

Not really. There's so many games out there, don't waste your time with this one... It's like outer worlds but not interesting and not funny and with some no man's sky sprinkled in. But it's so poorly done and the writing is so meh... Even if you add mods to fast travel and avoid other annoying things it's still a 6/10 game at best.

I truly did have a good bit of fun with it. It has some memorable side quests. For example you will discover the secret cave of basically space batman. Or you will explore a zero-g casino. Or chase a mutated super exo-weapon à la alien. I've sunk a lot of time in the ship builder as well to really make it my own. Gunplay is pretty decent and didn't get boring. Main quest is okay-ish.

You will have to decide for yourself if you can deal with stiff animations, loading screens, a forgotten base building mechanic and badly procedural generated filler content. I ignored them mostly so I had no issues enjoying the good parts above.

i had fun with it. maybe you will too?

TheGreenWizard@lemmy.zip · 4 pts · 130d

No, got it for free with my GPU. Lame as hell.

Souyo@lemmy.dbzer0.com · 3 pts · 130d

Nah, I pirated it before considering buying it and didn't finish it. Uninstalled after maybe 7 hours.

Did you ever wish mass effect had a weaker story and Bethesda loot mechanics?

sturmblast@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 130d

Despite what folks say, it's not bad if it's free

Obsidian was never owned by Bethesda, tho they became a subsidary of Xbox Game Studios in 2018.

They have always kinda been an "on commission" type studio. Before The Outer Worlds 1, I don't even know of any Obsidian developed game that wasn't part of another big dev/publisher's series (a lot of their titles are sequels).

BadlyDrawnRhino@aussie.zone · 7 pts · 130d

It's funny how they're still considered to be the sequels developer, despite the fact the last one they released on commission was Dungeon Siege 3 back in 2011. Since then, all of their releases have been original titles, although some were part of other franchises like South Park, and they did get brought in to collaborate on a couple games which were free-to-play and therefore pretty forgettable.

Their earliest original title was Alpha Protocol. Fantastic game, it's a shame it didn't sell very well. Sega owns the rights as the publisher and they don't seen interested in doing anything with it.

Arguably their biggest original was Pillars of Eternity, which broke a few records when they launched the funding campaign on Kickstarter.
