Have some üüüüüüüüü's, you seem in need.

gedfromgont@piefed.ca · 9 pts · 46d

I'll throw in an ä, ö but also the odd ß.

Noja@sopuli.xyz · 5 pts · 46d

If you don't have any Ü's available, you can substitute them with "ue", that's also what many German programmers have to do since programming with a German keyboard layout sucks.

I agree :D

CombatWombat@feddit.online · 2 pts · 46d

I actually have no idea how hard English is relative to German because I haven't studied either as a language student, so I can't actually compare. It was just such an easy layup I couldn't resist.

What's the refrigerator's gender?

naeap@sopuli.xyz · 11 pts · 46d (5 replies)

Der - male

Because it's derived from "der Schrank*

Alcoholicorn@mander.xyz · 3 pts · 46d (4 replies)

I know he gets around, but you you didn't have to call him a schrank.

naeap@sopuli.xyz · 7 pts · 46d (3 replies)

Ok, I know, this is a joke, but I'm currently to dumb

Calling someone "einen Schrank" in German usually means, that he is build like a tank

But I'm really not good at making connections with different languages, so please help me out o:-)

Lumidaub@feddit.org · 3 pts · 45d

You and me, we're both not anglophone enough to get it.

Alcoholicorn@mander.xyz · 2 pts · 46d (1 reply)

It shounds like skank in english.

sidebro@lemmy.zip · 2 pts · 45d

Hop in the skanktank

Lumidaub@feddit.org · 5 pts · 46d (3 replies)

The one in your kitchen is masculine. Others may be feminine.

Alcoholicorn@mander.xyz · 3 pts · 46d (2 replies)

So refrigerators can actually change their gender and swap pronouns?

wieson@feddit.org · 6 pts · 46d (1 reply)

Well, if he decides to lie down he becomes a Kühltruhe cooler chest, and therefore feminine.
But if she grows up into a walk-in cooler she becomes masculine again as a Kühlraum or begehbarer Kühlschrank.

SkaveRat@discuss.tchncs.de · 5 pts · 46d

And if he decides to get a job and work in retail, he becomes feminine again with die Kühltheke
