Literally the evil party. How did we end up here

mushroommunk@lemmy.today · 82 pts · 10d (7 replies)

We founded a country using solely slave owning sexually repressed cultists

Hylactor@sopuli.xyz · 56 pts · 10d

...on stolen land. Using the labor of the indentured and the enslaved.

amateurcrastinator@lemmy.world · 26 pts · 10d (4 replies)

Also most of you didn't vote or for some unexplainable reason voted for the orange buffoon... twice!

Hylactor@sopuli.xyz · 40 pts · 10d (3 replies)

Not to absolve these people, but half of our government has been at full on war with education since at least Reagen. They've been fighting tooth and nail for an army of uneducated meat-bots for the past 40 years, and now their investments are paying off.

jj4211@lemmy.world · 14 pts · 10d

And don't forget about Fox news and conservative talk radio.

mushroommunk@lemmy.today · 13 pts · 10d

And their war has been backed and funded by almost every big company. The amount of propaganda and lobbying pumped out against the people ever since Reagan has been insane

watson387@sopuli.xyz · 10 pts · 10d

Definitely. That's why they're constantly cutting education funding.

obvs@lemmy.world · -2 pts · 9d

There's no such thing as a sexually repressed slave owner.

Asafum@lemmy.world · 30 pts · 10d (5 replies)

The Reich wing found out that fighting a perpetual culture war where you make EVERYTHING out to be an attack on your sense of decency and morality and then have propaganda outlets do absolutely nothing else but harp on that culture war 24/7 and never report on your shit votes or comments is INSANELY effective at getting people to vote for you no matter how fucked up you are.

A_Random_Idiot@lemmy.world · 10 pts · 9d (4 replies)

Republicans basically working from the book of Goebbels.

IronBird@lemmy.world · 8 pts · 9d (2 replies)

kinda the other way around tbh, nazi germany built their propaganda appartus around how US oligarchs setup jim crow/generally kept their workers down

Tollana1234567@lemmy.today · 4 pts · 9d (1 reply)

they got idea of segregation from the US.

IronBird@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 9d

yes, and the specific social contral mechanisms built to keep it alive

MasterBlaster@lemmy.world · 4 pts · 9d

Yeah, pretty much literally.

Carl@anarchist.nexus · 30 pts · 10d (1 reply)

This is legitimately some cartoon villain level BS. It’s the kind of thing I’d expect from a Captain Planet supervillain, like “hah I built a weather machine and am forcing everyone to work in the sweltering heat, just to create suffering” type of toony.

obvs@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 9d

The thing fiction authors never get right about villains is that evil people are evil in every aspect, not just evil in some.

Ensign_Crab@lemmy.world · 10 pts · 9d

The people we elected to stop them didn't.

MehBlah@lemmy.world · 5 pts · 10d (2 replies)

A lack of empathy gets you into a position of power so you can be effectively evil.

Tollana1234567@lemmy.today · 1 pts · 9d (1 reply)

just look at THOMAS.

MehBlah@lemmy.world · 0 pts · 9d

That fuckin tank engine. The root of all evil.

Rhaedas@fedia.io · 77 pts · 10d (1 reply)

GOP hates people. Nothing new except in finding ways to hurt everyone more.

WhoIzDisIz@lemmy.today · 17 pts · 10d

I hate people, too. But please don't label me "GOP," or I'll just die!

kgbbot@lemmy.dbzer0.com · 72 pts · 10d (1 reply)

Of course the assholes who never have to work without air-conditioning are fine fucking everyone else

EmpathicVagrant@lemmy.world · 42 pts · 10d

Or live without food, Shelter, Medicine, Expendable income, Passive income, A salary, Insurance, Transportation..

Any consideration covered for our leaders is removed from the public, a few per generation.

FistingEnthusiast@lemmy.world · 41 pts · 10d (1 reply)

They don't care if people die

They don't see the people who will be affected by this as human

They're truly disgusting

toomanypancakes@crazypeople.online · 16 pts · 10d

Now, now, that's not true. They care very much if people die. That's why they keep trying to kill more.

cavitationfetishist2@quokk.au · 34 pts · 10d (14 replies)

Hell yeah! Fuck the outdoor working chuds! Let's watch these fuckers fucking die!

Catoblepas@lemmy.blahaj.zone · 15 pts · 10d (3 replies)

Can I get some of that heat that only targets chuds?

cavitationfetishist2@quokk.au · 0 pts · 10d (2 replies)

I don't understand.

Catoblepas@lemmy.blahaj.zone · 3 pts · 9d (1 reply)

My point was heat affects everyone, not just chuds. Sorry if it was too dry for your bit

cavitationfetishist2@quokk.au · 0 pts · 9d

Yeah this one's a bust I think.

arctanthrope@lemmy.world · 9 pts · 10d (3 replies)

not just outdoors. I worked in manufacturing at a place where production was immediately next to annealing furnaces on one side, and shipping on the other, with big truck bay doors constantly open to the outside, no climate control except for box fans and semi-portable AC units, which were only appreciably effective in a small area a few feet directly in front of them. we were also required to wear cut-resistant gloves and sleeves up to the elbow, non-breathable full-length hi-vis uniforms, goggles, and hard hats at all times. there were a small handful of minor heat-related medical incidents every summer. I was honestly surprised when I found out there are no laws that address ambient temperature thresholds for work; OSHA only requires access to clean drinking water

SouthEndSunset@piefed.blahaj.zone · 5 pts · 10d (1 reply)

Those requirements are there to protect the company, not us.

I’m from the U.K. FWIW but I’ve complained about heat in the summer and been told “there’s no max heat law” and the cold in the winter…and guess what??

cavitationfetishist2@quokk.au · 2 pts · 9d

You need to lock your bosses pets or children in a large oven and cook then to at least the point of serious neurological damage. Only way they'll learn without being too brain damaged to even boss you.

cavitationfetishist2@quokk.au · 1 pts · 10d

Hell. Yes. Kill em all! Cook those froggies!

Drusas@fedia.io · 6 pts · 10d (3 replies)

And delivery drivers.

Racoonwithbenefits@lemmy.zip · 7 pts · 10d (1 reply)

And some factory workers

cavitationfetishist2@quokk.au · 0 pts · 10d

Whooooooooo! Let's GOOOOO!

cavitationfetishist2@quokk.au · 0 pts · 10d

Hell yeah!

cavitationfetishist2@quokk.au · 2 pts · 10d

So I was kind of hoping there would be more negative reaction to this one. I had a whole bit planned. Wtf guys?

bobs_monkey@lemmy.zip · 1 pts · 9d

Certainly an easy way to cull the population

Diplomjodler3@lemmy.world · 21 pts · 10d

The murder party doing its thing again.

el_twitto@lemmy.zip · 18 pts · 10d

Fuck the GOP

Eternal192@anarchist.nexus · 17 pts · 10d

Every single one of these shit stains is way too old to be making decisions about our working conditions.

DaddleDew@lemmy.world · 16 pts · 10d

Take away the air conditioning in their offices. See how fast they change their minds.

oyzmo@piefed.social · 16 pts · 9d

Seriously, GOP is just more evil than any evil fantasy created. Could it be that they really are Satan and his underlings come to earth 🤔

brem@lemmy.world · 13 pts · 10d

...it's bad enough these people are ugly on the inside, but another side effect of them being terrible is my feed is constantly just pictures of creepy saggy old white dudes.

Melobol@lemmy.ml · 10 pts · 10d

Ooh! I didn't had this one on my bingo card!

RememberTheApollo_@lemmy.world · 6 pts · 10d (3 replies)

It’s the hierarchy. If you didn’t want to die of heat stroke, you should've been an Elon Musk.

Just keep blaming the people they treat like expendable cogs.

deadbeef79000@lemmy.nz · 4 pts · 10d (2 replies)

Have you even tried being in the 1%?

MasterBlaster@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 9d

They wouldn't let me join because if I did they'd become the 2% That's less sexy.

Tollana1234567@lemmy.today · 2 pts · 9d

actually in the .5-.01% which are the billionaire class.

svullo56@feddit.nu · 4 pts · 10d

América, amazing country. I won't let you tell me otherwise. No other country in the world let's you have this level of freedom!

Poem_for_your_sprog@lemmy.world · 4 pts · 10d

That's the point. Our global climate catastrophe can't get in the way of profit margins.

sunbytes@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 6d

Well, now is the time it would be most expensive!

If I were getting colder maybe they'd think about it.

Sir_Kevin@lemmy.dbzer0.com · -7 pts · 9d (2 replies)

Apparently this is repealing regulations that would be redundant anyway since states already have regulations in place that are specific to their local climate/industries.

Gormadt@slrpnk.net · 11 pts · 9d (1 reply)

Except much like minimum wage, some states don't have anything in place.

Tollana1234567@lemmy.today · 1 pts · 9d

MIN wage is something both houses wont touch, because like Healthcare its a useful tool to get people vote for and against it. even when individual cities have raised their own min wage, it isnt enough.
