US Embassy warns of "unintended consequences" as Ireland bans goods from Israeli settlements

https://www.irishcentral.com/news/us-embassy-ireland-israel

The US Embassy in Dublin has responded after the Israeli Settlements in the Occupied Palestinian Territory (Prohibition of Importation of Goods) Bill was signed into law in Ireland on Thursday, July 23.

"The Israeli Settlements Bill risks real unintended consequences, particularly for nearly 1,000 U.S. companies and the hundreds of thousands of Irish jobs tied to them," the US Embassy in Ireland said on Friday.

"If the goal is to make a meaningful difference for Palestinians, the focus should be on coordinated international efforts that deliver real impact, not symbolic measures that harm Ireland’s economy and will not advance peace.

"We urge Ireland to avoid pushing similarly unhelpful initiatives at the EU-level."

No, not that.

To actually help Palestinians, we need to think outside the box and develop a holistic approach that synergizes their needs with our goals. Start with the low hanging fruit first, then when we have the bandwidth, we can circle back and do a deep dive. This is the only way to move the needle.

"We urge Ireland to avoid pushing similarly unhelpful initiatives at the EU-level."

Or what? Are they threatening Ireland now? Are they gonna invade it?

Broke: Ireland belongs to the people who live there

Woke: Ireland belongs to some German guy who lives in Buckingham Palace.

Hopped up on coke: Ireland belongs to the Confederacy.

From a distance, it looks like reactionary losers draw inspiration from other reactionary losers.

But I'm not hugely familiar with the history of Ireland so if there's more to it than that, I'd be interested to hear.

Well the entire irish economic strength is built upon the fact that they are EU tax haven for US companies...

Why does that sound more like a threat, than friendly advice from a country that supposedly has absolutely nothing to do with this, whatsoever?

They're their partners in the illegal war on Iran, but (allegedly) have nothing to do with the genocide being committed in Gaza. Maybe they should focus on that instead.

I'm inclined to believe that the only "unintended consequences" will be in Genocid-ael and its puppet state reminding the world that boycotts do indeed work.

the Occupied Palestinian Territory (Prohibition of Importation of Goods) Bill was signed into law in Ireland on Thursday, July 23.

Based.

We should all be like the Irish.

Captain subtext: Nice [thousands of Irish jobs] you got there, would be a shame if something happened to them.

I think they are confused about the meaning of the word 'unintended'

Apparently, you're only supposed to interfere with trade if the target has hurt the pedo-in-chief's feelings.

When the police say that in the US they mean that they are going to kill your pets first.
