Me watching people take MCU seriously after endgame 7 years ago in which it became painfully obvious Disney ran out of ideas just like they did with every other franchise they own.
Comics have always waxed and waned. Some of the great storylines in comics happen between some of the worst. Imo it makes sense that the films following this model could do the same, and writing all of the off forever because you haven't been 100% satisfied every time seems silly.
It's okay to not like the MCU, and it's okay to be done with it. But you seem to be suggesting that the MCU was once good in your eyes - why do you think that somebody that has been proven to you to be good once is not capable of being good again?
I was a teen when the very first Spiderman movie came out, and I found it quite entertaining at the time. (Kirsten Dunst might have had something to do with it)
I was also ok with the X-Men and saw Iron Man, which still was okayish but started to feel a bit silly to me.
I've kinda lost interest in those kinds of superhero movies. Sure I kinda liked Watchmen, if only for the great soundtrack, and ofc I've seen the praised Batman Trilogy (Begins, Dark Knight, Returns), I also kinda enjoyed Kickass for being partly a parody of its own genre. But after that era, I've never really felt the urge to watch any of these movies.
What am I missing out on? Which movies do you consider a must see (or at least great entertainment) even for someon who doesn't know a whole lot about the MCU beforehand and has never read a comic book like that?
I mean, don't take this the wrong way, but I don't work for Marvel Studios marketing department so I don't really feel much incentive to sell you. I got no vested interest here, I just thought it was odd that the dude could acknowledge THING could and has been great in the past but while thinking THING couldn't be great again despite the prior acknowledgement. That's all.
That said, I am a comic book diehard and I am also still very onboard with the MCU. I'd say the new Spider-Man is one of my favorite films in the greater universe.... but it's also absolutely not a film you should go into blind. It requires at least having seen the previous Tom Holland Spider-Man films, bare minimum.
But if you're at all interested in the MCU and haven't dipped your toe in yet, my recommendation is simple: Watch Guardians of the Galaxy vol.1-3. These are, imo, the peak of the MCU (GOTG vol.2 is one of my favorite movies of all-time, in fact) and they're also in some ways the most self-contained, so they don't rely on a lot of connective tissue for their impact.

I was going to reflexively make that Harry Potter joke about the guy that dies buy decided to take this opportunity to say FUCK JK ROWLING, may her cunt be dry and itchy and her toenails grow into her skin.
Speaking of which, it's pretty wild to imagine that the one part of NYC surviving a thousand years into the future would be a big head made of thin copper sheets attached to an iron frame.
The cast was listed on the app I used to watch it, so I had seen one of the actor's characters names and kinda spoiled myself. Still a fun movie if you like the mcu.
If a movie can be spoiled by revealing a plot twist, it's not a good movie. There are a lot of great movies with great plot twist, but even if you know the twist, the movie is not ruined at all and is endlessly rewatchable.
This is why I hate mysteries. Like Murder on the Orient Express. The most interesting part is the ending and the rest of it is a forgettable man with a moustache talking to other forgettable people for two hours about forgettable stuff. The worst episode of Law and Order is better than any given mystery story.

If a movie can be ruined by knowing the plot twist then it is not a good movie. Not knowing a twist can improve the experience of the movie because it has more of an impact when it is unexpected. Also knowing if someone does or does not die in a movie really affects any tension the first time watching, which can make a lot of tense scenes meaningless the first time through.
For example, the Sixth Sense is great if the plot twist isn't spoiled because the first time you watch it with one context up until the twist and a rewatch gives you another while you see all the signs of the twist. It is still a good movie even if it is spoiled by knowing the plot twist, but the experience is different.
Sure, plot twists can improve the experience a little but a super secret hidden plot twist is kind of gimmicky. A movie like the Sixth Sense is actually harmed by it because the film itself is so good that knowing the secret from the beginning makes the story 100 times more compelling. You're just hiding a big important part of the film. Super secret plot twists are better experienced by the characters than the audience.
When I hear people worried about spoilers, I always think of The Naked Edge. At the end, a title card comes up saying, "Please for the love of god don't tell anyone the plot twist! This movie so fucking boring that the plot twist is all it has!"
