The best way I can describe drinking this entire thing as a colon prep for a procedure is that it's like that bit in the sixth Harry Potter book where he has to force feed Dumbledore that basin of poison to get to the bottom (it's been established that they're not great books but I'm part of that generation) but you're both Harry and Dumbledore both force feeding it to yourself while begging yourself not to do it all while lamenting the awful cruelty of Voldemort (your doctor).

The first time I had to drink one of these before surgery, I had no problems with it. I was stopped up pretty bad a couple of weeks later and got another bottle; it had done such a great job the first time. Drank half the bottle and then immediately vomited. I guess my body remembered what the liquid did and got a little ahead of itself.

Idk if this is what they had me drink but I was so mad like why would you have me drink this?? The whole reason I needed the procedure is because I couldn’t eat or drink anything. I literally could NOT swallow that stuff my body WOULD NOT LET ME INGEST IT. Like what the fuck it was so bad I was involuntarily not allowing myself to swallow

Yeah I washed down the prescribed laxative pills with it and it was fine. Until it began taking effect. On one hand it was very unpleasant. On the other hand it was the least unpleasant day for a few weeks, since the next day was major surgery on my genitals

It doesn't even taste that bad. It's just... revolting in a very non-obvious way. I can't even tell you why it's bad. But it is.

It feels wrong in your chest as it crawls down your esophagus.

Ah yes, the summer where 'anal leakage' was on everyone's tongues. So to speak.

"hint of potato chip" is not a phrase you want to hear in the bedroom.

It is lemon flavored tho

Miller@lemmy.world · 26 pts · 10d

You say it's lemon flavoured, it said it was lemon flavoured, when I had it I could taste a lemon flavour but there was an awful lot else going on at the same time. Saying its lemon flavoured is like saying falling out of an aeroplane will give you some air.

Sprite Reshit

Miller@lemmy.world · 15 pts · 10d

Lemon soda with your saline laxative before a colonoscopy, an aristocratic.

pulsey@feddit.org · 5 pts · 10d (3 replies)

Sprite is supposed to be good for your stomach? whut?

anon_8675309@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 9d

Real ginger ale is because of the ginger. I think people came along and conflated that with sprite.

KernelTale@programming.dev · 2 pts · 10d

It is recommended (if I am not mistaken) to drink cola if you are at risk of throwing up. It likely applies to most sodas.

LavaPlanet@sh.itjust.works · 2 pts · 10d

Old school rules, you were supposed to drink flattened lemonade if you were sick. No idea why, probably was made using real lemons at some stage? I'm just guessing.
