Unfortunately I am not eligible to vote in the UK.

@einkorn and I'm nowhere near Clacton, but we can still hope for the best

I suppose it demonstrates how corrupt American politics are in terms of lacking effective electoral finance regulations compared to the UK, but just £10,000 for a candidate in a major election seems like a drop in the bucket.

Its not a major election. Its a local byelection mostly contested by a guy with a bin on his head.

While the UK would be far better off if Binface won, a constituency poll last month found that Farage had 73% support in Clacton.

Yeah but imagine what a clown he will look celebrating victory over not just a man with a bin on his head but also "Nick the Incredible Flying Brick," "Woke Trump Carrzee," "Howling Laud Hope," "Baron Von Thunderclap," and a candidate from "Everyone is God party."

And it's an election that Farage called for, not his detractors.

On top of which, if he wins then the investigation into him by the Parliamentary Standards Committee will resume, and if he is found to have committed misconduct then there possibly will be another by-election. One which the mainstream parties will no doubt send candidates to.

Companies should not be able to buy the policies they like. That's not what's happening here, but now US politics are mentioned I feel I could leave my opinion here.

I genuinely thought this was a joke headline. Count Binface sounds like Sesame Street character that teaches children not to litter. Hilarious.

EDIT: I see the complaints in the article but I think the silly candidates show and promote a healthy involvement in politics by the population.

GMac@feddit.org · 29 pts · 27d

sad part is, Count Binface is not the joke candidate in this matchup.

Binface on Sesame Street would be awesome. It would be hilarious when he meets Oscar.

This is the crossover these times demand!

As a non-UK-citizen I found this Youtube Vid Whole Story of Count Binface quite enlightening.

I like Stand Up Maths' analogy with rock paper scissors. Serious candidates beat absurd candidates, populist candidates beat serious, maybe absurd can beat populist.
