What this woman has chosen to do is acquire power via the current ruling regime. And the current ruling regime is very harmful to multiple groups, including most of the American public at large.

She definitely could also just be a power woman. Some people aren't attracted to the money or the person, they just want proximity to power - sometimes to skim that power for themselves, sometimes to hide behind the protection of that power, sometimes to simply affirm a belief that they're powerful.
Trump doesn't need a honey pot - remember, his handlers have to constantly keep reminding him of "hey that's a national secret you can't talk about that" or "maybe don't shout about it in front of an audience of thousands". Why bother with espionage, when you can simply rock up with a briefcase of cash and say "hey I want detailed plans of all your military bases in X region, here's several million dollars."

I see something similar as with that press secretary whatsername: they come from conservative families and have learned early on that a pro-MAGA stance will give them positive attention. As adults, they see a career in this. They are kinda half aware that their looks and youth and traditional gender role can only be an advantage so they turn it all out. It's not about studying politology or some such, though of course they need to be literate as well (no, seriously. And I don't think that precludes people from being stupid assholes).
It's what the USA's hustle culture makes of people.
