They served Napoleon, then got chased into a cave where they served some Yeti's for awhile until the 70's when they accidentally killed the Yeti leader and were forced out. Then they found Gru as a child.
Ackchyually Kevin got tired of living in the caves and recruited Bob and Stuart to help him find a villain to serve under which turned out to be Scarlet Overkill. She was crazy and the minions then stumbled upon Gru near the end.
The yeti thing happened while the rest of the minions stayed behind in the caves.
…I watched both minions movies on a long plane flight recently. They were surprisingly decent!
Peter Thiel, Elon Musk, and Jeff Bezos are all unapologetic James Bond villains.
In fact, they might be even more ridiculously evil than the Flemming and movie villains. Ernst Blofeld is arguably more reasonable. (Blofeld, on whom Felonious Gru was based.)
Our concept of evil has changed overtime. In Dantes Inferno the people at the bottom of hell aren't the people who killed the most, it's the people who are most famous for betraying others. One of them is there because he stabbed the Hitler of his era in the back to protect democracy.
Dante's Inferno is also effectively fanfiction of a socialite without any real ecclesiastical value. He wrote in the vernacular, instead of Latin, which was what made it accessible and popular.
I had a friend in college who wrote a paper that religion was started by the original nerds who needed to classify and rank which level of angel and spirit.
I believe he argued the term "Angel of Death +2" is as equally valid as one name to the next across cultures and history.
And as a result made an absolute mess out of what Christians actually believe about death and the afterlife (and you, John Milton, don't think I've forgotten about you)
For sure. They were part of Operation Paperclip and went to work for H. W. Bush who sent them to South America as CIA operatives after WW2. They became close friends with G. W. Bush during that time and followed him to the White House, which is how they met Dick Cheney.
Peter Tiel I think. Trump and Altman are more like grifters. Net Yahoo and Putin are contenders, but they're using mass murder to solidify their own power... It just feels too pedestrian
But Tiel is like a hardcore death cultist or something. He gives speeches warning about how AI will be the anti-Christ, then goes around putting up AI cameras everywhere. He's the type that reads 1984 and pays people to build the torment Nexus
He’s probably the closest thing to a Bond style supervillain that exist, if alchemy were real he would be trying to create a global transmutation circle to sacrifice humanity and gain immortality
I'm pretty confident Putin is the number one backer of immortality age reversal research globally.
He does all sorts of things, as is tradition among Russian Tzar's, to halt his aging. The joke is the anti aging gurus tend to die before turning 70 and it has scared every Russian leader in history when they've observed that
I'm not, Steven Miller is a creepy little piece of shit
But capability and reach are part of my moral framework. Miller is basically a coach for the brown shirts.... He just yells at them to hurt more brown people faster. His words are vile, but they don't change much
He also says the antichrist will be a "self-described protector who promises peace, safety, and an end to technological risk" and sites Greta Thunberg.
They seem to be wowed more by flash than anything, and the villains don’t seem to be particularly competent or bright. That rules out Larry Ellison and AIPIC.
Various congressional Republicans, Elon Musk, or Javier Milei.
there are shit tons of videos what the minnions did in ww2 or their history in general tough it would be cool to see minions actually working for villains but its is a child movie and they cant merchandize adolf hitler or stalin
They were obviously a few in the bunker with hitler, probably meant to hand him a banana but accidentally gave him his gun. Probably not worth mentioning in the movies
That was a period of Great Minion Divide, where half of them supported Hitler and the other half Stalin. It worked out well until 1941 and then things got... complicated.
So I remember this was already brought up and there was a Twitter post saying that the minions didn't serve Hitler.
Then the implication was that meant Hitler wasn't evil or something.
This is just what I saw, I hate Hitler, I hate Nazis and I have never watched a movie with these minions.
My daughter is 1 so I'm sure I'll see all the minion movies soon.
Correction: Apparently these minions were frozen during the 1930s and 1940s.. Good save to a Twitter post that didn't think of the implications
Mussolini started the fascist movement and was doing some serious aura farming ,as the kids would say. Going for rebuilding the Roman Empire would be a serious Minion bait.
Hitler passed him in evilness and had a penchant for ridiculous super weapons. Some of the cockups they had could have been Minion level.
Stalin was neck and neck with Hitler for evil, murder, and conquest. However, I think by the time they turn his way, the Minions would have looked at all the purges, holodomor, etc and just decided to take a personal vacation until the CIA showes up.
Meanwhile the Nazi officials feared that Catholics may cause a civil war if they didn't put just the right amount of pressure on the Vatican. And Protestants tried to become the official state church of Nazi Germany.
Lets, not forget either that the biggest monstrosity of WWII was the religious cleansing, who had a beef with the Jews?
I think you should take some history lessons. Being Jewish wasn't a religious definition for the Nazis, we're not talking about the Spanish Inquisition here. And it's not like Catholics were more (or less) antisemitic than Protestants.
Hating a minority is a theme showing up in politics, every time a society had a downturn.
Jews were scapegoats, they were generally seen as greedy and thrifty. So when the economy went to shit, the workers blamed an ethnic group associated with being successful business people.
The hate for Muslims went up a lot in the aftermath of the 08 crisis. Although the reasons for problems tends to be greed among the elites, they also tend to control the narrative. And will throw a minority under the bus to save themselves
From what little I could understand in the movies I think the minions tend to have somewhat of an upper limit on evil? Like they're fine with stealing and destroying property but seem genuinely scared when people are murdered, so I guess no they wouldn't be Nazi. Not to mention how generally chaotic and hard to manage they are, not exactly dictatorship friendly
