My neighbour plays the shittest music, what can I do about it?

It's usually in the mornings when he thinks no one's at home, and its always some mariah carey type stuff

Have you considered learning to play violin?

tetris11@feddit.uk · 5 pts · 5d (4 replies)

I do actually play, to the point that I don't know how to play it badly. The suffering will only be on me, as I hate to play the damn thing

PoopBuffet@lemmy.world · 9 pts · 5d (1 reply)

How about bagpipes?

lost_faith@lemmy.ca · 5 pts · 5d

Bagpipes, in an enclosed space. RIP ears

lost_faith@lemmy.ca · 3 pts · 5d (1 reply)

How about the saxophone, with a damaged reed. Alto and tenor can get pretty loud and the damaged reed gives off a lovely screech at the best times

mmmm buttery

You are an evil fucker and I love it.

Rhaedas@fedia.io · 11 pts · 5d (2 replies)

I guess since it hasn't been mentioned yet that talking to them is out of the question.

tetris11@feddit.uk · 5 pts · 5d (1 reply)

The thing is that I sympathize with the need to scream/shout make music when alone. The world is rough, and exerting any semblance of expression in our little corners is important sanity-wise. I just wish the music wasnt so bad

Denjin@feddit.uk · 9 pts · 5d

They probably hate your music too...

Zombie@feddit.uk · 11 pts · 5d

Put on comically large sunglasses, take a stimulant of your choice, and knock on their door demanding to be invited to the party.

If they don't let you in, dance on their doorstep with sporadic shouts such as "THIS IS MY SONG!" and "THEY DON'T MAKE THEM LIKE THIS ANY MORE!" until you inevitably get arrested for public nuisance and the music is turned off.

They'll never play music that loud again.

If they do let you in, throw caution to the wind and have the best damn boogie you've ever had. Repeat until they don't let you in.

Zachariah@lemmy.world · 11 pts · 5d

It’s time for you to explore your taste in experimental music.

jodanlime@midwest.social · 11 pts · 5d (2 replies)

Put a note on their door or mailbox to let them know that their music is bad and they should feel bad.

tetris11@feddit.uk · 5 pts · 5d (1 reply)

I was thinking of shoving a USB stick full of my favourite jams would do it. But then they'd know its me

jodanlime@midwest.social · 6 pts · 5d

Go old school and make them a mix tape.

fozid@lem.radiantfig.fyi · 9 pts · 5d (1 reply)

Knock on and have a friendly chat, get to know him, and mention the loudly shit music is a bit annoying. Either that or move 🤷

SaveTheTuaHawk@lemmy.ca · 5 pts · 5d

Gift him a pair of headphones.

  1. Learn electronics
  2. Construct one sided speaker
  3. Aim at neighbor's window and load nine hours of the AAAAA Cowboy meme
tetris11@feddit.uk · 3 pts · 5d

Woah. Thanks for blowing my mind with the idea that you can piggyback audible sound off an ultrasonic wave that resolves due to interference

Egonallanon@feddit.uk · 7 pts · 5d (2 replies)

Perhaps launching a shahed style drone at their house would be a balanced and reasonable response?

tetris11@feddit.uk · 8 pts · 5d (1 reply)

cant, I used my last one to fetch groceries and its yet to return

blackn1ght@feddit.uk · 4 pts · 5d

On the plus side, the groceries you'd have wanted are now cooked.

golinux@fedia.io · 7 pts · 5d

The answer is always black metal, as raw as you can bear.

Meditation.

tetris11@feddit.uk · 3 pts · 5d

I dont think he'd be up for that suggestion

mesamunefire@piefed.social · 6 pts · 5d

Im just finding it funny thinking about a person who wakes up and

not angry because he was woken up.

Not because of loud music.

But is livid about their neighbors music choices.

Just a funny thought.

NigelFrobisher@aussie.zone · 5 pts · 5d (1 reply)

Play Krautrock all morning.

tetris11@feddit.uk · 1 pts · 5d

Nah, but I'll play some Smoke Blow, best nearest thing

Skua@kbin.earth · 5 pts · 5d

Get a karaoke set, point it at his house, and sing along as passionately as possible

'the shittiest music' -> it's not reggaeton

Congratulations, you have first world problems

tetris11@feddit.uk · 5 pts · 5d (1 reply)

I said "shittest" not "shittiest", big difference in meaning

ThrowawayPermanente@sh.itjust.works · 3 pts · 5d

I stand corrected haha

one_old_coder@piefed.social · 1 pts · 5d

I would suggest napalm if it was reggaeton.

Crazy frog

I'm pretty sure playing that would be a war crime that would get you sent to The Hague.

unknown@piefed.social · 4 pts · 5d

Wear headphones and listen to better music.

Gabadabs@lemmy.blahaj.zone · 4 pts · 5d

Put in some earbuds and listen to something you like. Life's too short to judge people for liking shitty music.

iamericandre@lemmy.world · 4 pts · 5d (1 reply)

If you play throbbing gristle at high volume that should do the trick

tetris11@feddit.uk · 3 pts · 5d

Whilst I'm a fan of sharing a sense of existential dread with anyone who should pass by my door, I can't help but think that I might bum myself out in the process

MyDogLovesMe@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 5d

I have an old Marshal stack, and my old Fender Strat.

NOBODY wins a music war with me in my apartment!

Hexagon@feddit.it · 3 pts · 5d (1 reply)

If he's playing via bluetooth, try a bluetooth jammer

fonix232@fedia.io · 5 pts · 5d

Mind you that's pretty fucking illegal. So if OFCOM happens to be monitoring and catches wind of what you're doing - even if it's to prevent a legitimate nuisance - you can get a hefty fine.

sad_detective_man@sopuli.xyz · 3 pts · 5d (2 replies)

Hit em with C.Bat

tetris11@feddit.uk · 3 pts · 5d (1 reply)

Isnt that the "having quiet missionary sex" song? I don't want people to think I only know one position, no matter how true

sad_detective_man@sopuli.xyz · 3 pts · 5d

That might have been an aspect of the story. The part I remembered was him always insisting on listening to it during sex. But then when he couldn't, he got caught gyrating his hips to the tune of it.

I think if anything people might see you as a quixotic and indomitable soul. I swear I'm not the C.Bat guy.

My neighbors always listen to great music, whether they like it or not

tetris11@feddit.uk · 2 pts · 4d

Heh, that's the spirit
