They'll turn whichever way AIPAC tells them to, I guess.

  • Gottheimer: $2.3m
  • Scholten: $413k
  • Moskowitz: $833k
  • Suozzi: $605k

AIPAC tracker

curbstickle@anarchist.nexus · 25 pts · 1d (1 reply)

From Wikipedia:

Gottheimer's net worth was between $16.9 and $75.3 million in 2023, and he and his wife Marla Tusk, who is general counsel at the political consulting firm Tusk Strategies, reported $897,617 in joint income

AIPAC isnt the only reason.

Tollana1234567@lemmy.today · 1 pts · 8h

many of them come from being married wealthy SO, or is funded by otehr wealthy sugar daddies.

marcos@lemmy.world · 14 pts · 1d (2 replies)

For some reason, AIPAC decided to be against socialism too. I'm sure they yelling "and stay poor you peasants!" is a very productive complement to their main goal of assuring every Palestine is dead.

uriel238@lemmy.blahaj.zone · 3 pts · 20h

Israel is not a Jewish country. It's a rich-people country.

Tollana1234567@lemmy.today · 1 pts · 8h

Aipac serves the interest of israel, that includes any politician they can get to vote for them, also being beneficiaries of the MIC is a plus to Israel without having them investing in thier own weapons tech themselves, by default also thier healthcare.

naught101@lemmy.world · 57 pts · 1d

Ironic that the reason they're doing this is that socialists keep getting democratically voted in

Phil_in_here@lemmy.ca · 30 pts · 1d

"We can't fight fascists! Fascists fight back! Best we can do is keep attacking this Strawman."

jtrek@startrek.website · 27 pts · 1d (5 replies)

The Democrats are generally pro capitalism. They're just, currently, less aggressively racist and sexist and stupid. They should be the right wing party. The Republicans should be in jail.

ViceroTempus@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 8h (3 replies)

The Republicans should be in jail executed.

Fixed that for you. Traitors deserve execution.

kreskin@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 8h (2 replies)

Well let's not say anything too outrageous here. They need to be tried in a court first, convicted, which should be a slam dunk, then imprisoned for life or executed. We still have laws, its just that no one has been following those laws-- from either party, or in the supreme court, so we'll need the ICC's help to sort this especially as it involves crimes against humanity. We need to sign onto that court-- it might literally save the country. We already had US laws against shipping weapons to genocidal regimes before this all started and that didnt stop either party. The dems who allowed those shipments should be in chains and awaiting their day in court right next to trumps war criminal cabal. Theres still a way out of all of this, although I dont have much faith that our country will find its way toward actual honorable justice.

ViceroTempus@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 8h (1 reply)

It's not outrageous. It's what The Constitution dictates for High Treason and Sedition. Which I argue the Republicans are guilty of and then some.

Republicans deserving execution should be the default position at this point, we should normalize it.

kreskin@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 6h

I dont disagree with your wanting to see accountability and you make a good point about normalizing it. But as cops know and exploit, the idea of acting in the interest of justice and going through the motions puts people at ease and in line with letting it play out. So its useful.

Tollana1234567@lemmy.today · 1 pts · 8h

from the outside they are pretty right wing, i think people inside the us, are convinced(not all of them) that they are left wing.

Zephorah@discuss.online · 25 pts · 1d

Well yes. Democrat donors can’t have democrats being at all democratic or for working class.

empireOfLove2@lemmy.dbzer0.com · 14 pts · 1d

Don't forget the two that just turn-coated today to save Mike Johnson's house agenda. https://www.cnn.com/2026/09/01/politics/democrats-mike-johnson-revolt

Gullible@sh.itjust.works · 9 pts · 1d (9 replies)

Dsa?

mushroommunk@lemmy.today · 42 pts · 1d (8 replies)

Democrat socialists of America. They're a political party inside the Democrat party that's focused of progressive politics. They all refuse AIPAC donations, condemn Israel's genocide, want to tax the rich, and basically do everything government is supposed to.

Mamdani, Abdul El-Sayed, and the like are part of it I believe.

They want to form their own political party but understand in America people basically will not vote third party so they're trying to do a massive coup and push Democrat party hard left. They've been getting some massive wins recently too.

Wakmrow@lemmy.world · 19 pts · 1d (5 replies)

Whew.

No. It's not inside the Democratic party. DSA is a separate organization that will endorse and support candidates. It's a big tent and there's a lot of competing politics. Chapters report to national and chapters are typically at the city level.

DSA is in the process of nominating progressives in all sorts of local and national elections. But DSA is more than electoral politics. You will find mutual aid, outreach and other activities in that org.

Source: me. Join your local DSA. Or start your own chapter.

mushroommunk@lemmy.today · 5 pts · 1d (1 reply)

Well then they really need to work on unifying their messaging among their local chapters because that's not how they sell themselves around me at all.

Wakmrow@lemmy.world · 6 pts · 1d

I mean, no. The local chapters have quite a lot of autonomy. Which is a good thing.

The DSA has a lot of factions and basically no barrier to entry. You're going to find all types. Some of them run food distributions and scream at any passing cop. Some of them are into getting even centrist dems elected. And there's a lot of problems with more centralized national organizing.

Slowy@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 1d (2 replies)

Is there any Canadian equivalent you’re aware of?

infinitesunrise@slrpnk.net · 5 pts · 1d

In terms of size and agenda I'd say the NDP is the closest thing up there. Though DSA is a caucus of the Democratic Party while NDP is it's own whole party.

Wakmrow@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 1d

No, sorry. But I don't see why you couldn't start one if there isn't one. Or a DSC 😃

99% of moving people in your communities is just showing up and doing the things.

Gullible@sh.itjust.works · 17 pts · 1d (1 reply)

Wikipedia says it's less of a party and more of an action group that campaigns for ideologically aligned candidates. Either way, seems worth putting time into!

Freeposity@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 21h

Kind of like the congressional black caucus.

reddig33@lemmy.world · 8 pts · 1d

Please vote in your local primaries.

funkreddit@lemmy.zip · 6 pts · 1d

Dinos, you say?

explodicle@sh.itjust.works · 6 pts · 23h (8 replies)

When Democrats do this to Trump: "Oooh a strongly worded letter! They need to actually do something."

VinegarChunks@lemmus.org · -4 pts · 20h (7 replies)

TF do people expect the minority party to do to stop the party with majorities in all three branches of government?

Nouvellalia@lemmy.world · 10 pts · 18h (1 reply)

Don't pretend like you don't remember the Democrats wringing their hands every time they had majorities, and saying they couldn't do anything or had to heavily compromise because of this or that single person.

The last one was Joe Machin. "Oh! Guys. So sorry. We would totally help the people, but we can't do anything because of jOe mAnChIn!" They always have a scapegoat.

kreskin@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 8h

My favorite was the parliamentarian. The one who is an advisor and can be overruled at any time.

What can democracy do, the parliamentarian has rendered government powerless to act. *shrug

kreskin@lemmy.world · 6 pts · 8h

Maybe not collaborate with fascists? Maybe give a crap about their own voters? Is that a lot to ask?

skisnow@lemmy.ca · 5 pts · 10h

Are you kidding? Or are you just too young to remember Obama having all three branches and still completely failing to get the public healthcare policy that he'd campaigned on and had massive public mandate for?

TankovayaDiviziya@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 6h

Campaign against Trump and fascist Republicans instead of holding hands with them? Because you know, that's what opposition parties ought to do? I'm sorry to say this but Americans are brainwashed by corporate media about dEcOrUm and reaching across the aisle, because it tames the masses from mobilising and recognising that both parties are captured and strung by corporate oligarchs. At least more and more progressive Americans are waking up from the silly corporate narratives and primarying corporate Democrats with progressives.

theacharnian@lemmy.ca · 2 pts · 5h

Use every procedural trick in the book to delay, deny, frustrate. Deny the abusive majority the semblance of normality they rely on to do business as usual.

SailorMoss@sh.itjust.works · 2 pts · 8h

A war powers resolution has been passed, meaning the war in Iran is unconstitutional based on a plain face reading of the constitution that a third grader could understand.

Why are democrats not suing the administration to stop the war? Why are they not making a bigger deal that that this war is unconstitutional in the media? Why are they wasting time misrepresenting Hasan Piker and undermining Abdul El-Sayed? A Senator they need if they want a majority to stop this administration.

Conservative Democrats had legislative trifecta just a few years ago. Biden did not replace postmaster Dejoy despite having the authority to do so. Which has made it easier for Trump to undermine mail in ballots.

They also didn't prosecute Donald Trump for inciting the January 6 insurrection. I could go on about the failures of the Biden administration and the Democrats 2021-2025...

...But long story short, Conservative Democrats had their shot, they lost. Now when we tell them to do their fucking job as an opposition party you try act like there's nothing they can do.

Are you pretending there's nothing they can do because you don't understand the basic function of an opposition party in liberal democracy or because you're a fascist collaborator?

AviAdi@lemmy.world · 4 pts · 1d

Lol Democrats are Trump's controlled opposition. If you think they exist to help the working class boy do I have a bridge to sell you. Anyway good luck trying to win against Republicans with "allies" like these. USA is cooked unless we start luigi-ing it up ❤️✌️

Tollana1234567@lemmy.today · 2 pts · 8h

isnt there a Dem in texas that was pardoned by trump, he has ben consistently voting with the Rs, he will be one of them too.

kreskin@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 8h

Everyone put on your surprised face. And heres the part where we wholeheartedly hope that those were the only 4 bad Dems and they are so going to get it for this. The rest of the Dem leadership and dem will Not Stand For This. *eyeroll

Who Goes Nazi.

yoriaiko@lemmy.blahaj.zone · 1 pts · 5h

Wait till You see socialdemocrafts fighting communists... :womp: :womp:

BillCheddar@lemmy.world · 0 pts · 1d (11 replies)

There are 212 Democrats in the House and you're blaming all of them for the actions of 4 of them.

You are literally no different than the conservatives who blame all black people for crime based on some small percentage of the group who commits a crime. Same argument.

impairedimperator@lemmy.zip · 6 pts · 1d

It's a memes page, you're not supposed to think about it being political propaganda, you're supposed to laugh and be propagandized without realizing it.

uriel238@lemmy.blahaj.zone · 3 pts · 20h (5 replies)

Hakim Jeffries refused to say in an interview DSA has a place in the Democratic party, and then had a picnic with Jared Kushner. That's the Democratic leadership colluding with the faction that literally seeks to unmake democracy in the US.

So yeah, I think there's legitimate cause for DSA to be a bit cross.

BillCheddar@lemmy.world · -1 pts · 19h (4 replies)

Literally the same argument the Klan makes.

Congrats, dude. You're with them.

uriel238@lemmy.blahaj.zone · 3 pts · 10h (3 replies)

If I'm not for you I'm against you?

Speaking of culty, fascist thinking.

BillCheddar@lemmy.world · -1 pts · 9h (2 replies)

Congrats on the George Bush Reading Level award for September of 2026.

uriel238@lemmy.blahaj.zone · 0 pts · 8h (1 reply)

Oh I read quite a lot. Maybe you should give it a go.

skisnow@lemmy.ca · 1 pts · 13m

honestly mate at this point I think user BillCheddar is either trolling or frothing, either way it's time to block and move on

SailorMoss@sh.itjust.works · 3 pts · 7h

Racism is not remotely the same thing as legitimate criticism of a political party not whipping its members.

This is literally an expectation in nearly every liberal democracy.

skisnow@lemmy.ca · 2 pts · 10h

you’re blaming all of them for the actions of 4 of them.

Yes. Because the other 208 spent the last few decades setting a norm in which 4 of them thought that it would be a perfectly ok thing to do without being ejected from the party. Any of the 208 who don't take action now are complicit in their silence.

Your analogy is specious because black individuals don't automatically bear the responsibility to distance themselves from other black individuals who commit crimes, but becoming an elected representative of a party does VERY much come with the responsibility to make sure your party doesn't get infiltrated by corrupt politicians on the payroll of foreign powers.

Tollana1234567@lemmy.today · 1 pts · 8h (1 reply)

not even remotely the same thing as systemic racism lol. also theres way more than just those 4, those 4 are sacrificial lambs chosen by Hakeem, hes also one. theres at least dozen plus of Dinos.

BillCheddar@lemmy.world · 0 pts · 8h

lol sure sweetie. YOUR prejudices are justified. It's totally different that way!
