I suppose I should give the full story. I have checked them a few times, and two of which had their maintainers altered. Under the recent AUR attack, I believe that's been a requirement for malicious alterations to seep in, yet I don't entirely know what the malicious alterations look like in code. Three of the four packages ship default with CachyOS, with the stray one being added by myself. Conveniently enough, the one I added myself is the one I trust the most and actually feel confident enough in my auditing of.
As for removing unnecessary packages, yeah that's a fair point. Much as I like Cachy for being an easy-to-use Arch based distro, it does bring a handful of bloat with it. Suppose I've just been afraid I'd be removing a dependency.
Got me so conflicted in the ESP32 scene, 'cuz like, I dont wanna have unoptimized code for a microcontroller. They're not exactly known for insane performance overheads. Yet most of the projects I've recently been taking up just wouldn't exist at all without it.

If product isn't purchased, that demand is not there. Supply increases alongside it, and prices drop with profits. Eventually the supply gets lowered by manufacturers to increase market value.

Someone in my life allegedly did something bad last weekend. I found out by getting a phone call from the local jailhouse on their behalf yesterday morning. I'm their contact, found their legal help, and been drug along part of the process. HolyFUCK is it absolutely insane the shit you have to do. The predatory-ass system has you completely fucked if you're poor. A fucking five thousand dollar payment for bail, that they allow only the panicked voice of the detainee to inform you about, so you likely jump right in and take action and pay that bail before the arraignment trial where the prices can be reduced, or he can even be up and set free. Dont have the money? That's okay! You can pay 10% if you put some substantially valued aspect of your life up for collateral. The referenced suggestions? A house and a car. Now if they fuck up before their trial, you lose basically everything. And lord, don't even get me started on the sentence times. Threatening the lad with twenty years for some alleged not-severe crimes, the boy hasn't even lived for that long, so he panics and talks before we can get legal council to him. Anyone with a single look from the outside can tell he's not getting anything near that, but they wave it over his head like it's a looking threat he's gotta serve.
If any of you go through this process, I swear, it becomes apparent as day that this whole thing is built to incentivize you to remain in jail. To stay as cheap prison labor or whatever it may be. This whole process is fucked. I haven't even seen the legal fees yet.
That's about right from my experience in the midwestern USA. Went looking at options for apartments in this area alongside a lesser populated area prior to moving here at the start of this year. I'm not in some high-income zone, it's predominantly manufacturing around here. My apartment costs 1451/mo, and it was the cheapest I could find out of the options I was open to accepting. I recall seeing apartments as cheap as 1130/mo, but those were apartments in a reeeeeeallly sketchy area, and I can't say I was particularly open to that if I have the option to go elsewhere.

Also another edit: This is less rigorous and more rooted in what I've experienced, but when I had a friend from Italy over here in 2022-2023, I recount him commenting a few times on how high the costs for things are. He didn't use words like "Cost of Living" per se, but would speak on how he doesn't get how we can live with things being as expensive as they are. Not to completely shame the system, he did mention a few luxuries of living here that he doesnt have over there, but things were very skewed toward "How tf can you afford this shit?" Case in point, he could afford to fly overseas with a less-than-luxourious job, at the time, I could not.
Not gonna lie, the numbers people sometimes pull up for similar arguments are usually fudged in some way, but not a single number they used sounds wrong.
15 an hour isn't unheard of, minimum for my state isn't even close to that, some of my coworkers make that. Rent for my place is much more. I spend way more on food, bills, utilities, etc. I'm not in a very high-income or high-cost place, it's the outskirts of a small industrial city, and I'd say those numbers are skewed to cost less than what they actually wind up costing me.

Usually you see some clause disclaiming that they "Collect this data through a third party that is not governed under this privacy notice," or something in that vein.

I encourage y'all to try plain peanut butter, just nuts and salt. Gonna be a slightly different experience, but the peanut intensity is just so much greater, and man its much healthier.
