I like this comparison because the reason Jetson could work so little was because of the technological advancements.
We live in what people from just a couple centuries ago would consider a wizard magician magic world because of the insane technological advancements we've made.
So why the fuck are we still working this much?
The answer is simple. Because the fruits of our labor and humanity's advancements have been stolen from us by a greedy minority. And we aren't nearly as mad about it as is necessary to get what we deserve.
The only reason my work pants are different colors is because sometimes the color I prefer is out of stock. I did go so far as to intentionally pick two different colors of shirt of the same style, though. I have fashionable non-work clothes because my sister-in-law buys her husband trendy new clothes every year and he's about my size.
He's a conservative. They think they're experts at everything. That way they don't have to learn anything or refer to experts who make them feel inadequate for how stupid they are.
Doctors should be saying what is healthiest, not what makes money for the government. His priorities are out of whack.
At least he's not making the Phillip Morris case that smoking will kill people before they can claim their pension. Unhealthy and makes Uncle Sam a few bucks.
That brought up an angry memory when Obamacare was first being debated. They were floating the idea of universal healthcare and the Republican propaganda machine came out in full force. There was something on Fox News that said something like "a study by the Congressional Budget Office shows over the next decade, universal healthcare would cost $7 trillion".
But then neglected to mention the same survey showed NOT implementing universal healthcare would cost something like $17 trillion. Fucking scumbags.
Obamacare is conservative legislation (RomneyCare) and preserves insurance corporations position in the Healthcare system.
Making small adjustments to the orphancrushingmachine and calling it a win is shameful. If democrats cared, every blue state they control would have their own version of universal Healthcare.
This is the opposite of what everyone wants. We need a national, cultural priority for reducing work hours and work years. We do not exist to slave for the wealthy and ambitious, it's time we acted like it. It should be a civilization goal to reduce the retirement age and reduce weekly work hours. We want freedom to live out best lives, not slave away and die in poverty FFS. How is this not our collective goal?
Free Americans from the burden of unwanted labours.
There are a small number of people who already work as much as they want and live their best lives...due in large part to the rest of us not having that opportunity.
There is a significantly larger number of people who are willing to slave away for the faint hope they can join that elite class.
I'd be happy to pay more taxes to have a better social safety net that I expect to need very little at this point in my life. I already live in a country with universal healthcare. Yet there are still people who have no problem giving piles of cash and tax breaks to big business while at the same time complaining about the taxes we spend on social safety nets, voting for things that only help the elites, and maybe barely help those who have just a little more than what the average citizen has, and are just a few bad months from losing all they've gained. They make up about 30% of the population where I live, which is just enough to keep us from doing anything better.
Because society is not there to help you? Even though in a good society, it would be. We are currently in the dark era of capitalism, man. Account for that.
You have to set your own goals. Want to stop working at 50? How much you need to save to do that? Get started today. It takes discipline and sacrifice for most.
I mean this is far and away the most disgusting, overtly evil administration the U.S. has ever experienced.
It's comic book villain levels of absurd.
This is what you get when you can't see the forest for the trees and allow conservatives to outvote liberals. Conservative reality will always be clown reality. And you will live in it unless you take the necessary steps to prevent it, even if you happen to be kinda sorta mad at the Democrat party, which is justified, but do you really want to keep doing this?
Satire has been dead for years. You remember the endless string of disasters that happened at the 4th of July festival in D.C.? Every Saturday morning cartoon of the 80s and 90s satirizing absurd leadership couldn't top that.
Watch, they're going to spend over $1t to advertise to get Americans to "feel healthier" just to raise the age... They won't actually do anything beneficial.
This petty shit they are doing pretending to care about finances while laying the burden on the people, while literally pillaging the treasury to line their own pockets, and wasting billions more on needless wars and other Trump vanity projects, it really is the pinnacle of arrogance.
Is this the Turkish man advocating Sharia Law I've heard so much about? Surely this is who the news is referring to when they mention the radical Muslim trying to destroy America.
Make no mistake - you have always been expected to work until you stopped being useful, then die. Social Security was there to deal with the remaining husks of those who beat the odds instead of having homeless old people dying in the streets where everyone could see it.
When the retirement age was set at 65, it was higher than the average life expectancy of Americans. Most people weren't expected to reach that age. But then we started living longer and fucking up the math.
It is just marketing. What he is really saying is "keep slaving plebs." This is jut trying to make it sound noble. Like telling a toddler, "I don't think you are mature enough to eat your vegetables." Only in this case, instead of the goal of making a kid eat healthier, the goal is to keep us slaving on behalf of the ownership class.
I guess what I am saying is either way, you will be too poor to retire.
For me, the biggest concern that keeps me from retiring is the cost of healthcare, Medicare for all would abate that concern some, so people like me might retire early. Obviously, the wage slave owners are opposed to that, so Medicare for all is reviled by the both the right wing party (Dems) and the far right party (repubs).
What's makes me mad is even drawing from this heartless well for motivation they are so incompetent they'll still get splinters fucking the bucket instead actually doing things to raise the median years of quality living.
70 more years now and they'll understand that the whole socialism thing actually makes sense as well. Just like taking paying and taking care of your workers actually results in higher and longer production

It is. A few centuries ago things like buying new clothes was an occasion. But now we have fast fashion and throw away crap.
I mean I fucking hate a lot of the fashion garbage. I have an extremely utilitarian view of clothing and people would probably hate me for it.
