I don't use Spotify personally, I just go with whatever seems to be the easiest to access for most people when I'm posting online. I don't think Google / YouTube is exactly great either. Neither are the major record labels that existed before streaming. Unfortunately it's all that most musicians have if they don't want to stay in the garage.
I don't think this is simple or human friendly at all. I cannot think of a single example of where or how this is actually useful as default behaviour. If I want all of my text on a single line, I'll use the space bar instead of the return key. This is just dumb and anti-intuitive.
Not only do I think I shouldn't have to research how to make new lines on a forum site, I think this shouldn't even be a 'feature' in the first place. I can understand looking up the markdown for italics / bullet points / other beautification though.
Side note: it's really fucking annoying that you can't format text with new lines, without knowing the secret markdown. Absolutely fucking stupid. How is it useful to anyone?
Personally, I think the concept of "talent" comes from people who think they were created by a magical man for a specific purpose. What I think talent is, is just practice, perseverance and passion. I'll use guitar for example. Everyone fucking sucks in the beginning. There's this very difficult barrier at the start that you can only get through by forcing your way through, before it starts becoming 'fun'. And a lot of people don't make it past this beginning phase and think they're just too untalented, when what they're actually lacking is the perseverance and the passion to want it hard enough.
Sure, some people have longer fingers (which also isn't 'talent') but you don't have to play on a wide neck classical guitar, there's plenty of guitar shapes and sizes that are more suitable.
I wonder what the odds are that I'll be seeing this in my feed way more than I saw anything about Nepal. I'm guessing high. Just like how people who were mourning Dolly Parton and Tim Curry kept asking who the third person is going to be, while literally hundreds of people got killed in the same week in Nepal.
Fuck sake the metal scene is rotten these days. Oh well it's not like I haven't had practice dropping bands and actors and shit over this last decade. Guess I can add In This Moment to that list now too.
Yeah they just released their new album two days ago. To seemingly very little fanfare, at least as far as my algorithm goes, which is pretty much 99% women in music.
The funny thing about that is that there has been one study that shows conservatives (especially conservative men) have an enlarged amygdala compared to other people, the amygdala being the part of the brain that handles primitive responses, namely fear driven responses.
And there's been another study that linked brain damage to having conservative, rigid views. Which explains all the right wing MMA fighters and rugby players.
It's just an ongoing joke in the Sonic fandom, not even sure where it originally came from. From what I've picked up, Sonic is like Fallout New Vegas or Arch Linux in that there's a lot of trans people in the fandom for some reason or another, enough for it to be a bit of an in joke.
Just discovered these guys like a week or two ago! Came across their KEXP live recording on YouTube and sat through the whole thing from start to finish. Really awesome, planning on digging into their stuff more eventually.
Hope you don't mind me asking on this post here. But when you create a community, are you able to set it to private while you figure out the banner and icon and sidebar etc. or should I have all that stuff ready to go first? I'm getting a better idea of what I want to make a community for and putting some things together.
Mine's a British woman. And the volume of that voice always seems to be much louder than whatever I was listening to, so it gives me a slight fright every time.
Currently reading Geek Love by Katherine Dunn. A story about a family of carnies and circus freaks. It's interesting but it's been a slow read for some reason. Haven't read as much as I should've for years (trying to fix that) and it's just not my usual thing I guess. I don't usually read more than one book at a time but I'm thinking I might move on to some others on my list and come back to this from time to time.
Yeah there's a lot of games I would've never played when I was a kid if it wasn't for the video store renting out games. I had a second hand Mega Drive, one controller and two or three games of my own, not bought all at once. And I can say that I got a lot more out of renting games than feeding coins into an arcade machine at least. They even had games available for swap, so I could trade something I bought and regretted, or finished and got everything out of.
I also definitely wouldn't have watched 90% of the movies I got to watch if it wasn't for the video store.
I think like anything else it's neutral, or a good or bad thing depending on what kind of predator is running it. Same as second hand stores. Renting out things that people need to survive sounds fucked. But renting out Sega games and whatever fantasy / sci-fi / horror movie caught my eye made part of my childhood.
Added Black Spikes, Faetooth, Frayle and King Woman to my music rotation. And ended up obsessed with Faetooth. So basically just Faetooth over and over.
