When my grandpa used to visit every Tuesday, he would join us for dinner, then some coffee after dinner. We would sit on the couch and chat a bit and at some point grandpa would fall asleep. The rest of us just went about our evening, watching some TV, playing a game, just chatting or whatever. After an hour or so, he would wake up, slap his knee, tell us it was a great evening and head home.
It was actually kind of sweet how that old man would fall asleep. That's why you don't fucking elect grandpa to run the country.

A lying god telling the kids they have magic powers well beyond them and proving it like an uncle playing a dumb trick on the three year olds at a family reunion is a possibility. Maybe God exists and is just kind of an ass?

Anybody know what the proper path forward would be? Say the proper interim path. If giving the best representation to all kids means thankfully more get to stay, might it change the calculus of parents put in impossible situations and lead them to strategically abandon their children here hoping they’ll get a better life? And maybe it’s an entirely rational decision at least at first—but eventually even more kids might slip through the cracks. And as costs for anything balloon, negative attention does too. Negative attention sucks oxygen even when you’re willing to fight.
And public defendants already have like negative time to spend with their clients, we desperately need more.
