But... I am clearly out of shape. Not the worst shape, mind you, but obviously not an athlete. Climbing for me, which I do enjoy, but haven't really done since covid.
I mostly bike ride for exercise, but don't think I'm an in shape looking cyclist or anything. It's an bike, and while I do usually vary between weakest assist and sometimes none, I got nothing on even semiserious cyclists.
I'm not athletic. Not obese either but it's just not the word to describe my appearance. So it would be a fair assessment and if I don't sense any bad faith then to me it's actually an interesting question to be asked. Some people are just a little tone deaf.
Am man. Am not athletic (was never great at anything and a number of places in my body are now metal). Am not bothered at all by the question. My answer would probably be endurance running, though I did enjoy shot and disc.
I used to play open gym volleyball. The same guy would come every week and had been going for years. He was the most dogshit volleyball player I ever met. He played a lot and was extremely unathletic.
I mean, so he showed up and tried every day? Or did he do regular drills, research on how to improve and implement those suggestions, and do strength and conditioning on the side to improve overall athleticism?
Have you ever seen the movie Million Dollar Baby? There’s a guy who goes to the boxing gym that they describe as “100% heart, 0% talent.” That character epitomized the guy I’m talking about.
i don't see this working unless you ask a specifically athletic man, or one of those people who can't shut the fuck up about the gym... but for non athletic guys, like... we know. the answer is probably "none, which is the reason I'm not athletic to begin with"
Honestly why would it call a ragebait, it's a perfectly fine question because everyone have their limit and there's always some extreme sport not for everyone.
Well we are shitting on people who are so simple that a ball moving from one end of a field to another is enough for them to build a personality around.
Hey buddy I may be bitter and fat, but it's not because I don't like sportsball. It's because whiskey and fried food taste amazing and I work in customer service.
Back in school, we would ask others if they were going to the gym. Then someone seemed to have their ego lifted by the question, we would say that we asked because it does, indeed, doesn't look like so.
If I didn't appreciate my brain and were more athletic and coordinated, I think I'd like to fight (more boxing than MMA). I'm slightly sadomasochistic and every time I've fought I've kind of enjoyed it but I've also felt guilty (and rightfully so, because my aggression came from fear and anger I should've controlled, and God will judge me for it), but if it's for the sake of entertainment and both parties are in agreement it's a different thing entirely! I'd also like to play the piano or guitar, and I've tried learning, but I'm too clumsy for them. 🙃
Honestly I loved playing lacrosse in high school. I wasn’t amazing at it, but I had a lot of fun. I ended up tearing my ACL in varsity so I stopped, but I don’t regret playing. I would play again today, but I’m too old now. Too many physical things that could go wrong, I’m over that hill, and that’s ok.
I also don’t get mad very often, so I don’t feel ragebaited at all lol, weird how people think that no man can just answer a question honestly without turning into a ball of anger.
I once knew one unathletic person who liked soccer and claimed that he was going to be the second Christiano Ronaldo, but one of his friends also claimed to be the second Christiano Ronaldo. Their drama completely wrecked their soccer team, and unable to find people to play with, that guy just switched to playing Fifa on his Xbox.
All the people in this scenario were young adults, lmao

Is it ragebaiting if you just call somebody "unathletic"? Or is that just insulting somebody? 😂

If they’re actually athletic, it’s ragebaiting. If they’re clearly out of shape, it’s insulting.

Combatives are fun as hell, and the athleticism and coordination improves with training, but yeah - all carry at least some of risk of brain injury.
Didn't 100% do it for me, but fencing might scratch that itch a litte bit. Risk is still there but much lower than hand-to-hand combat sports.
