Don’t worry mankind and animals are the next fuel for the future cars!

What a poetry Mankind on a killing spree for oil ending up becoming the oil

general_kitten@sopuli.xyz · 4 pts · 362d (4 replies)

dinosaurs never became oil/coal

RaivoKulli@sopuli.xyz · 3 pts · 362d

Useless shits

salty_chief@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 362d

Look I just learn stuff that college teaches me okay. So decaying trees, plants and animals (dinosaurs) are the primary source of oil. Oil is being made daily based on decaying organic material. This is why the planet has so much of it.

bigboitricky@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 362d

not with that attitude

Nima@leminal.space · 1 pts · 362d

some of them likely did, given the current theory of how oil happens. dead organic material is dead organic material.

there's just more vegetation than animal matter.

InvalidName2@lemmy.zip · 2 pts · 362d

I've seen enough Jurassic Park franchise movies to know that at least some dinosaurs had bills.

tanisnikana@lemmy.world · 53 pts · 363d

I don’t even have a thagomizer.

Kolanaki@pawb.social · 39 pts · 363d (17 replies)

If they're so great, how come I use their goo to spend 4 hours a day stuck in traffic?

stoy@lemmy.zip · 32 pts · 363d (8 replies)

That goo, once burned is what is causing global warming.

The dinosaur's curse for not letting them rest in peace....

Kolanaki@pawb.social · 9 pts · 363d (3 replies)

Man... Imagine how fucked we would be if we burned mummies!

unconsequential@slrpnk.net · 9 pts · 363d (2 replies)

I mean people ate them so I’d say you know the answer to that…

Alwaysnownevernotme@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 362d

Bro this is stressing me out I'm gonna go snort some of granpappies mummy stash.

I_am_10_squirrels@beehaw.org · 1 pts · 362d

Teriyaki flavored?

hansolo@lemmy.today · 6 pts · 362d (3 replies)

The goo is trees that were buried before bacteria and fungi learned to eat hydrocarbons. 0% dinosaurs.

Well, I mean, I can probably only guarantee no more than 3% dinosaur.

Zink@programming.dev · 2 pts · 362d (2 replies)

Whoa whoa, if my car is getting a larger percentage of incidental dinosaur from its refined petroleum products than the percentage of incidental spider legs and rat shit I myself am getting from my processed food products, I am going to be totally jealous.

hansolo@lemmy.today · 2 pts · 362d (1 reply)

I know! And you should be. Industrial standards in the Carboniferous Period were seriously lax. All the upper management and lawyers were trilobites!

Zink@programming.dev · 1 pts · 362d

It was a rough time back then. But a simpler time...

Rhaedas@fedia.io · 1 pts · 363d

Must be diesel. If you can get it to combust under high air pressure, a diesel will probably run off it.

A_Union_of_Kobolds@lemmy.world · 6 pts · 363d

Well... its mostly plant and fungus goo actually

Still.

BurgerBaron@piefed.social · 4 pts · 362d

I hope some future species burns our liquefied matrix black corpse goop, it's what we deserve.

DrDystopia@lemy.lol · 34 pts · 362d (8 replies)

not better than a stegosaurus

By what metrics? I challenge any dinosaur from any species to a banjo duel and I'll show you all who's better.

psx_crab@lemmy.zip · 21 pts · 362d (4 replies)

By what metrics?

You do not have thagomizer.

captain_aggravated@sh.itjust.works · 3 pts · 362d (3 replies)

A stegosaurus cannot build microcontrollers, rocket engines or nuclear explosives. We can. But sure, some bones on your ass I guess.

I challenge any dino to a fighting duel and I'll show you who's superior. Oh wait, they all dead? That's right bitch! They all dead. (banjo sounds during my mic drop pls)

corsicanguppy@lemmy.ca · -2 pts · 362d (1 reply)

The boy can't spell "you're". We don't need to challenge him on the content. Similarly, if the tenor can't hold the first note, we don't need to stay for the performance.

TigerAce@lemmy.dbzer0.com · 1 pts · 362d

So "you're" argument is that dinosaurs would win when it comes to a spelling contest? (it's your)

noxypaws@pawb.social · 29 pts · 362d (8 replies)

birds reading this:

closeup shot of a secretary bird's face, they're looking downward and their prominent eyelashes make them look kinda sad

Why do I feel some kinda way about that sexy ass bird?

Birds when humans talk about dinosaurs going extinct like they just vanished: "Am I joke to you?!"

Stegosaurus died out long before the K-T extinction event. They weren't even good enough to survive to that point.

captainlezbian@lemmy.world · 10 pts · 362d (1 reply)

Yeah aren't they one of the few animals that was actually a dinosaur and actually from the jurassic that people think of when they think of jurassic dinosaurs?

Zink@programming.dev · 3 pts · 362d

Do people ever actually think of the Jurassic period though, or do they just live in a society where Jurassic Park and Jurassic World have made that period's name synonymous with dinosaurs?

RedFrank24@lemmy.world · 14 pts · 362d (3 replies)

Not fair to the dinosaurs. The dinosaurs got hit by a meteor, humans are destroying themselves.

Knock_Knock_Lemmy_In@lemmy.world · 4 pts · 362d

Nah. I've seen those Flintstone documentaries. They had all the consumer mod cons.

OrteilGenou@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 362d

The dinosaurs are doing quite well. Corvids in particular..

people still think we’re invincible

Who? The peons concerned about climate change and ecosystem collapse? Or the billionaires injecting kids’ blood into themselves, launching rockets to colonize Mars, or begging for donations to get them into the right afterlife?

Beryl@jlai.lu · 9 pts · 362d (3 replies)

Stegosaurus really isn't the best example of a long lasting clade of dinosaurs. These losers didn't even make it to the Cretaceous !

Knock_Knock_Lemmy_In@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 362d (2 replies)

Are sharks the best example?

InvalidName2@lemmy.zip · 5 pts · 362d (1 reply)

No. Sharks are not dinosaurs.

Knock_Knock_Lemmy_In@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 362d

Sharks have been around for over 450 million years.

echodot@feddit.uk · 8 pts · 362d (4 replies)

Well, we have brains we can use to spot and destroy or redirect incoming asteroids. So yeah I am. Also stegosaurus was long extinct by the time of asteroid impact.

Michal@programming.dev · 7 pts · 362d (2 replies)

Bro, have you seen "Don't look up"?

BuboScandiacus@mander.xyz · 3 pts · 362d

That was about climate change.

daniskarma@lemmy.dbzer0.com · 2 pts · 362d

My brain cannot do that, I don't think I can even move a pencil with my brain. Should I go to the doctor?

Hegar@fedia.io · 8 pts · 363d (4 replies)

Except dinosaurs weren't taken out and some species like chickens probably have more biomass than ever.

I think that's the more horrific scenario anyway - we cause a massive catastrophe but like the end of a slasher franchise, we're still around to do it all over again.

negativenull@lemmy.world · 6 pts · 363d (3 replies)

There are more species of birds (dinosaurs) alive today than there are mammal species

10,000 vs 6,000 (ish)

tyler@programming.dev · 4 pts · 362d (1 reply)

The bird count is over 11k now! I think something like 11300ish. Let me look it up.

OK it’s 11250!

negativenull@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 362d

It really is the bird's world still

bear@lemmy.blahaj.zone · 2 pts · 362d

All wild mammals combined are about 1/10th the biomass of humans.

captainlezbian@lemmy.world · 7 pts · 362d

Idk my ancestors survived the k-pg event

Flax_vert@feddit.uk · 6 pts · 362d (2 replies)

But could the dinosaurs DO THIS? Straps myself to a rocket and blasts off the planet into space

spicehoarder@lemmy.zip · 3 pts · 362d (1 reply)

A rocket fueld by dinosaurs

Flax_vert@feddit.uk · 1 pts · 362d

Now that's T-Bagging

mienshao@lemmy.world · 6 pts · 363d

What if I told you the dinos did not get taken out and are, in fact, flying above your head as we speak? The pigeons are waiting for you…

DeathByBigSad@sh.itjust.works · 6 pts · 362d (8 replies)

Bruh, reading through this thread, I'm low-key having an existential crisis thinking about the timeline where that extinction event didn't happen. No humans, no tech, no video games.

Dinosaurs rule forever?

What if my soul got incarnated as a dinosaur, what is it like?

Just chillin'?

Idk

Yo dog. I know it's 鬼月. This time of year, everyone in Taiwan thinks about their mortality.

My suggestion is to think about what you want to accomplish if you don't have to think about survival.

HurricaneLiz@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 362d (2 replies)

I learned about ghost month from you, thanks 💜

jaschen306@sh.itjust.works · 2 pts · 362d (1 reply)

Its coo coo crazy how much people here believes it here. This morning I saw a row of businesses, about 8 store fronts, was outside praying and burning "spirit money". Employees are forced to pray as well.

HurricaneLiz@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 359d

That's nuts, that's like one of those examples that's either "ppl coming together in a sense of community and bonding" or "being trapped in forced servitude to the societal expectations around you." Depends on the person experiencing it what it feels like ig. I never understood the forcing ppl to pray, like "you know that's not how that works, right?" Performative time wasters 😂
