The Trump administration is drawing up “secret lists of terrorist groups inside the United States,” Senator Elissa Slotkin said on the floor of Congress yesterday — the first such reference to the effects of National Security Presidential Memorandum 7 (NSPM-7). The directive, as I’ve reported, lays out Donald Trump’s policies with regard to equating “anti-Christian” and “anti-capitalist”…
...
“The Trump administration define[s] domestic terrorism incredibly broadly,” Slotkin said. “It suggests that any group that talks about anti-Christian values, views they don’t like on migration or race, differing views on the role of the family, religion, or morality could all be grounds for labelling an organization as domestic terrorists.”

There's already a list of people we need to watch out for. Let's see it.

Meanwhile, I see idiotic Confederate dumbasses posting stuff about how Republicans are "standing up for American freedoms".
Bull-fucking-shit they are. I didn't see Democrats step on one freedom of any Confederate dipshit. I see Republicans positively gleeful about stealing away freedom from MILLIONS.
They do realize that about 38% of Americans are not xtian, right? What the fuck does "anti-Christian" even mean? Is it "anti-Christian" to not want any affiliation with your little book club?
crusa187@lemmy.ml · 34 pts · 322d
What you’ve got to realize here is the freedom they’re talking about is their freedom to oppress “the others.”
CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world · 4 pts · 321d
Oh yes. They use the Southern notion of "liberty", vs. the Northern notion. They really do think that if they are not privileged and set up to rule over others as "less than", that they don't have "freedom".

Wrong.

They "realize" that 100.0000% of Americans are Christian, because all non-Christians are not Americans regardless of citizenship.

Social media as a whole is the infrastructure of authoritarianism. It only needs someone to put it use.
That's a paraphrase from some talking head I heard a while back. The world has been feeding this machine for about 15 years. It's filled with everyone's personal data.
In a sense this is the Skynet doomsday. It's already in place. All it takes right now is a flip of a switch. Like the Doomsday Clock. We are on the verge of it. Midnight strikes soon.
I have no doubt ICE is already using this to know how and where to pluck people off the street. If I'm a person that could be targeted in America right now. I'd be 100% off the grid. Ditch every electronic device. Go completely dark. Disappear myself to another location before they disappear me.

Perhaps a problem is that nobody is surprised anymore.
If you dont jump when a loud noise goes off anymore, you might not get out of the way of what makes it.
Maybe fake it til you make it. Act shocked about it and tell coworkers that you're terrified.
Or just read one of the forefathers' diaries, see if they managed to articulate the tipping point that began the slope towards revolution and attempt to replicate it?
(I'm speaking generally about this situation, I'm not an american either)

beveradb@sh.itjust.works · 14 pts · 322d
Yeah that's fair. I've been through the ACLU de-escalation training and stuff and won't actively start violence at a peaceful protest or anything, but if I get targeted because of said protesting and end up being targeted by ice (I'm a green card holder, not a citizen) then I'll go down fighting for sure

I've been party to a few of these exchanges recently, and between open citizen violence and letting things go on as they are, I think I am now rooting for our society to just collapse under its own weight. And with enough mismanagement, it certainly will (already is). While that will produce a great deal of suffering, at least it could provide a chance to fix some things.
Glifted@lemmy.world · 4 pts · 322d

"A little-discussed detail in the Lavender AI article is that Israel is killing people based on being in the same Whatsapp group [1] as a suspected militant [2]. Where are they getting this data? Is WhatsApp sharing it?
Lavender is Israel's system of "pre-crime" [3] - they use AI to guess who to kill in Gaza, and then bomb them when they're at home, along with their entire family. (Obscenely, they call this program "Where's Daddy")." source
