Ah yes, the notoriously left wing BBC... My eyes are rolling so hard they may fall out of my head.

Compared to American news, yeah. :P

That's the thing though.
... um ... not sure how to finish this

As someone mentioned by american standards its certainly left.

Except for anything related to Gaza/Palestine/Israel.
HubertManne@piefed.social · 3 pts · 313d
I mean our left is about limiting the amount of aid to isreal and balancing it with palestinian aid. Your ultra left if you want to stop selling weapons completely to isreael.

You're not measuring by what percentage of Trump stories are positive/negative, the only metric that matters to him.

This just begs the question of who "Newsguard" is and why anyone should trust them.
There's dozens of conservative sites that do these ratings for right wing crap and give them high scores, too.
snooggums@piefed.world · 30 pts · 314d
They have an About page that links to who they are and the criteria they use.
Just because conservatives have a shitty evil version doesn't mean every rating is untrustworthy.

The US government shouldn't be relied on for credible or reliable information.
They can't be relied on for anything.

We tried giving people boots with straps to pull themselves up, but that didn't work either.
Nobody knew it would be so complicated.
captainlezbian@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 313d
Liar they made us buy those boots
UnderpantsWeevil@lemmy.world · 10 pts · 314d
Incredibly bleak, given how much they've historically invested in demographic, scientific, and economic data analysis.
ininewcrow@lemmy.ca · 6 pts · 314d
But even when you look back on that data and information, the majority of it was skewed and manipulated to conform to and confirm a very specific set of values, politics and beliefs .... much of whom didn't have the best interests of people but rather in coddling corporate interests, the economy, money and power.
mystik@lemmy.world · 4 pts · 314d
While that may be true, I think it’s also generally correct that the information was generally based on objective reality, even if the interpretation was skewed. Now, they are just making up information, and using it to support that narrative they wanted. It’s easier when you can skip objective reality to make up the story you want, and continue to repeat it as indisputable fact
UnderpantsWeevil@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 313d
That's the nature of human observation and analysis. Everyone brings their own baggage.
The raw data continues to prove useful reference material for anyone looking to independently analyze policy.

Miss Leavitt is the reason that dumb blonde jokes actually exist.
bramkaandorp@lemmy.world · 7 pts · 314d
Miss? She's not even married? How is it that she is accepted by her fellow fascists?
frongt@lemmy.zip · 8 pts · 313d
They think they have a chance.
And since they treat women like property, I would be wholly unsurprised if the whole Trump administration is full of classic American workplace sexual harassment, Mad Men-style.

At least mentally she is a miss. As in miss by a mile...

Despite this glowing endorsement the BBC can be kind of shit at times, especially with political stuff. But the reporting on US stuff is normally ok because they don't have any dog in that race.
Bennyboybumberchums@lemmy.world · -1 pts · 313d
Shes not wrong. The BBC is a lot of shit. I once watched one of their reporters LIVE taking a side in the debate of Scottish independence, when their only job was to give each side a fair amount of time to have their say. The guy would pull the mic away from the SNP dude, and let the labour dude waffle on uninterrupted.
And thats before you get to the decades of paedophile cover ups. In 2013 a Freedom of Information request revealed: “152 allegations of sexual abuse … against 81 BBC employees and freelancers” in a six‑month period. During operation Yewtree, over 90 people were arrested in connection with child sexual abuse. The BBC is like the current white house. Full of paedos and those who protect them.

How is calling a news network fake not lible and opening up the government to be sued?
frongt@lemmy.zip · 17 pts · 313d
It's spoken, so it would be slander. Libel is printed.
But they wouldn't really have much to gain by suing. They're not losing business because of this.

Waiting for the first nation to label the US Government as a rogue state.
echodot@feddit.uk · 4 pts · 313d
It would be kind of ridiculous for them to publicly announce that. You can call Iran a rogue state because what are they going to do about it?
Publicly calling out the US is a bit more dangerous.
