We should boycott the fucking assholes at Hilton too

oppy1984@lemdro.id · 69 pts · 217d (6 replies)

Honestly that's not a bad idea, but take it a bit further. Publicly list ANY business that is found to provide services to ice. They stay at Hilton, add Hilton to the list, they eat at Denny's, add Denny's to the list, ect.

sobchak@programming.dev · 29 pts · 217d

Nvidia

jaybone@lemmy.zip · 8 pts · 217d

People who eat at Denny’s already support them .

modus@lemmy.world · 4 pts · 216d (2 replies)

I heard they all drive Teslas.

BarneyPiccolo@lemmy.today · 4 pts · 215d (1 reply)

I hate it when there's a good boycott, and I'm already boycotting them for some previous atrocity.

modus@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 215d

So buy one and return it.

...Through their showroom window.

RizzRustbolt@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 215d

They all eat at The Big Biscuit.

AquaTofana@lemmy.world · 35 pts · 217d

I canceled my Hilton Honors account.

Fuck they were SO GOOD for pet friendly travel.

But wherever there was a Hilton Garden Inn there's USUALLY a Hyatt Place too, and they are also pretty reliably pet friendly. Not owned by the same people either, I checked.

Until I discover what they've done wrong as I'm sure its something.

I truly hope they could not pay the drums well. I want fucking amateur hour on the drums. That shit will make anyone go insane.

saltnotsugar@lemmy.world · 18 pts · 216d (5 replies)

Do they need a trumpet player? I never learned the trumpet but I can toot.

ShaggySnacks@lemmy.myserv.one · 6 pts · 216d (3 replies)

We need a wanna be bag pipe player.

modus@lemmy.world · 5 pts · 215d (2 replies)

I'm pretty food at disruptive miming. Can I come?

Ryanmiller70@lemmy.zip · 6 pts · 215d (1 reply)

I still got my recorder from elementary school. Will that help?

BarneyPiccolo@lemmy.today · 2 pts · 215d

We need 30 more for the best effect.

BarneyPiccolo@lemmy.today · 5 pts · 215d (2 replies)

I wanted to play drums as a kid, but that was a hard NO from the parents.

I ended up being a musician, but I'm still a frustrated air drummer to this day.

ShaggySnacks@lemmy.myserv.one · 2 pts · 215d (1 reply)

We could use you! Join the band!

BarneyPiccolo@lemmy.today · 1 pts · 215d

I'm bad enough at guitar to be effective!

RizzRustbolt@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 215d (3 replies)

Or swing the opposite way. Some sort of super talented prog-rock drummer.

Olhonestjim@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 215d (2 replies)

All night drum battle between them both.

paperazzi@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 215d

So many options to keep it fresh.

RizzRustbolt@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 215d

Drum lesson.

Portnoy's probably got some free time on his hands.

Zoop@beehaw.org · 50 pts · 217d (1 reply)

Hot damn. Are they single? Asking for me.

BarneyPiccolo@lemmy.today · 5 pts · 215d

Most drummers are single. They aren't great conversationalists on account of being deaf, and kind of dumb, too.

Just kidding, drummers are cool. I wanted to be a drummer, but the parents were a hard NO.

NotASharkInAManSuit@lemmy.world · 42 pts · 216d (15 replies)

I would 100% drag out my amp and guitar and fucking shred alongside this dude.

“AND MY AXE!”

bbboi@feddit.uk · 14 pts · 216d (1 reply)

Impromptu concerts are a classic form of protest. It doesn't even need to be bad music. It's about showing support.

Quill7513@slrpnk.net · 3 pts · 215d

for anyone interested in picking a lane:

  • rap: here, specifically, is how america is fucked
  • punk: I'M MAD AS HELL AND I'M NOT GONNA TAKE IT ANYMORE
  • funk: they want to see us sad, but i refuse to be
  • bluegrass:

in 1872 my pappy was born on the coal fields of eastern kentucky. his mother loved him even though he didn't look a thing like his daddy. his daddy loved him too. he looked just like the mine boss. you see back then the only way to make ends meet was for the woman of the family to supplement the income of her husband with sex work. but they loved him for being their son regardless of what he looked like. but i swear to fucking god, if i ever meet that sumbitch James Donald Bowman i'm going to break this goddamn banjo over his fucking head for reperpetuating my suffering by pretending to speak for me. because i love jesus, and that's what jesus would have done. he whipped bankers, afterall

stiffyGlitch@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 204d (4 replies)

I have a recorder

smh@slrpnk.net · 1 pts · 204d

Plastic recorders are great. They're portable, durable, and most 5th graders have one. Only downside I see is you can't blow them through a gas mask.

Low quality ones are also wicked cheap. ($2 at my local dollar store)

Quill7513@slrpnk.net · 1 pts · 215d

if that

RizzRustbolt@lemmy.world · 4 pts · 215d

Get some vuvuzuela going as well.

BarneyPiccolo@lemmy.today · 2 pts · 215d

I don't get it. In germany, where I live, it's illegal to make noise at night, so they'd just get the police.

cyberpunk007@lemmy.ca · 43 pts · 216d (3 replies)

Apparently the police were there. With their sirens on. To make noise. Lol.

pineapplelover@lemmy.dbzer0.com · 13 pts · 216d

That's comical

Tja@programming.dev · 4 pts · 216d (1 reply)

Showing support or being morons?

BarneyPiccolo@lemmy.today · 7 pts · 215d

Minneapolis cops? Who knows? Those guys are all over the place. This was the neighborhood where the cop murdered George Floyd, as he looked into the camera and dared anyone to do anything about it. He's in prison now.

Don't expect much from Minneapolis Cops.

nibbler@discuss.tchncs.de · 20 pts · 216d (1 reply)

In germany, where I live, we also have the freedom to assemble. if two rights collide, the answer is not always easy. A quick google gave me an example of people comlaining about a noisy midnight demo, and the police stating that the freedom to assemble overrules the right of quietness at night. Of course the police is not the final judge of this, but at least it shows that things are not as clear cut as you make it sound.

BarneyPiccolo@lemmy.today · 2 pts · 215d

In America, they'd probably just tell him to get rid of the drums, and arrest him if he didn't comply. Maybe.

There's about an equal chance they just bomb into there, throw him around, destroy his drums, and drag him to jail, and leave his busted up gear behind to get stolen.

Depends entirely on their mood at the moment.

Screen_Shatter@lemmy.world · 9 pts · 216d

There are noise ordinances in America too. Timing, volume, and enforcement vary by location. This guy probably would not last long before cops stopped him.

mrgoosmoos@lemmy.ca · 7 pts · 216d

well ideally the police are also doing something about the domestic terrorists holding up in their city, so..

They kill peoppe, so you slightly annoy them and make them more tired/prone to outbursts. Winning strategy.

GammaGames@beehaw.org · 79 pts · 217d (4 replies)

melsaskca@lemmy.ca · -1 pts · 216d

I think you may have just saved the world with that actiony comment. Thanks for all of your action! /s

sudo@programming.dev · 53 pts · 217d (1 reply)

Sleep deprivation is serious business. This guy is easily doing more direct action than 99% of the protestors (no hate on them).

What alternative strategies are you suggesting? Picking up a gun and forming a militia? Or waiting for the mid-terms vote ICE agents out of office?

rockSlayer@lemmy.blahaj.zone · 24 pts · 217d

The protesters at the federal building in Minneapolis stopped ice activity that morning. That's not nothing

Objection@lemmy.ml · 52 pts · 217d (1 reply)

Make their jobs hell and fewer people will want to do it, duh.

Wtf is this bullshit, like should we show up with a fresh cup of coffee and donuts for the ICE agents so they don't "make a mistake?" Fluff their pillows and tuck them in to make sure they get a good night's rest? We want them to be stressed out, tired, prone to mistakes and outbursts. They kill us when they're calm and well-rested too.

Banging your drums all night outside an enemy encampment has been a tried and true strategy for thousands of years.

NihilsineNefas@slrpnk.net · 13 pts · 217d

Cymbals were originally designed as a weapon of war. Imagine hearing an army coming, but the drums are pierced by the sound of a 30 inch crash being absolutely hammered

xthexder@l.sw0.com · 12 pts · 217d
causepix@lemmy.ml · 6 pts · 215d

You also make it costly to the hotels as the non-ICE patrons find somewhere to sleep that isn't hosting ICE agents and having noise demos as a result.

Whostosay@sh.itjust.works · 3 pts · 217d

Lol how'd you think this comment was going to go?
