I appreciate the adherence to due process and all that, but can we fucking stop with the “allegations” bullshit? Trump raped children. Full fucking stop. Stop softening the hard truth here. He is a pedophile who raped children, and also played a massively prominent role in one of the largest sex trade operations we have ever seen. And that’s not fucking alleged. He did it.
halcyoncmdr@piefed.social · 57 pts · 204d
It has nothing to do with due process. News media will never do that until there is a conviction because it opens them up to lawsuits. Even with the nearly impossible bar for defamation that public figures have.
Lawsuits are expensive, even if you're right. Especially when they come from a serial bullshit artist that drags them out for eternity like Trump.
HasturInYellow@lemmy.world · 9 pts · 203d
Then start a lawsuit. Have them prove he DIDNT do it. It's pretty fucking apparent. Slander is not absolute, make him take you to court over it you fucking pussies

Let them fucking sue.

Even after they're convicted, they usually say "convicted rapist" or whatever too. If it's for the sake of honesty, I appreciate it. Sometimes I'm certain it's to soften the language for the benefit of the accused though.

Is anyone else getting sick and tired of reading about his disgusting sub-human vile behavior while at the same time, watching no one do anything about?
It sickens me to know about him having done all of these things- especially when you consider that everyone that could do something about it are too scared of him to do more than SLAM him on twitter.
And even that is lukewarm at best.
He needs to me Braveheart’ed in the least and fired into the sun at the most. Yet his disgusting mouth is free to run about whatever addled geriatric bullshit that got up his ass to date.
It’s fucking exhausting.
Leg@sh.itjust.works · 13 pts · 203d
Amen. I must've read hundreds if not thousands of headlines that all declare some new terrible thing that this terrible president and his terrible friends have gotten away with. That isn't news to me at this point. Until consequences are produced, it's all the same headline repeated ad nauseum. I shouldn't feel apathy at the thought that he raped and threatened to kill children, but I do, because it's the same news I'm always hearing about the shitlord. I'm jaded. I'm tired.
That bullet should've been the end of him.
Pratai@piefed.ca · 7 pts · 203d
I’m convinced that kid was paid to sit on a building with a rifle, there was no bullet that hit that piece of shit and that kid paid with his life to give Trump a day’s worth of sympathy from a bunch of ignorant hillbillies.
in4apenny@lemmy.dbzer0.com · 2 pts · 203d
What about the dude in the crowd that got killed?
matlag@sh.itjust.works · 1 pts · 202d
Well, a firefighter behind him did receive a bullet and died.
There is enough on Trump already to send him to jail for centuries. But the guy is a complete idiot, he would never be able to organize such a plot without fucking it up big time.
Pratai@piefed.ca · 1 pts · 202d
So, how’d that ear wound heal within days? And how did the SS allow him to stand up and take that picturesque pose moments later without them knowing there wasn’t more active shooters?
It was staged.

I recently read this fantastic post by a fellow lemming regarding the modern advertising landscape (using advertising in the most generic sense), and this paragraph really sums up what I think is the root cause of this infuriating unspoken commitment to inaction (emphasis mine):
Seriously though, go read the whole thing.

It REALLY annoys me when they talk about the DOW or whatever other stock market indicator is at "record highs". Like, that has actually been the default state for as long as the DOW has existed. Look at a graph of its price back to the 80s, and see it has exponentially grown basically the entire time.
Over the last 20 years, on average, it has gone up 10 percent each year. You can see where anomalies take it higher or lower than the trend, like the accelerated growth and then drop of the dot com bubble, the sub prime loan bubble, and the covid dip and post covid tech bubble. They stand out as deviations on the graph that makes it not exactly follow the trend. But it has thus far always returned to normal where it TENDS to be going up about 10 percent a year.
It's not interesting that it is going up or that it reaches a new record price. It does that all the time. And it's really not brag worthy that the rate of growth may be higher now, either, because we are all too aware that that is largely due to the AI bubble that will pop hard. The fact that he is claiming credit for it is hilarious though. When that bubble pops, it won't be his fault though, obviously.
hector@lemmy.today · 2 pts · 203d
The real inflation rate is closer to the average increase in the the stock indexes, which is 12% last I checked. 12 minus something, I would hazard 12 minus the 2-3 of stated inflation is closer to real inflation. But as of 2008 the old unchanged formula averaged 5-8 percent inflation. Higher now obviously.

Remember when Republicans were outraged because a president was recieving blowjobs from a consenting adult in the oval office?
Pepperidge farm remembers.
CubitOom@infosec.pub · 37 pts · 203d
Obviously, child rape is way worse. And any accused pedophile should at a minimum see a trial.
However, Bill Clinton really did take advantage of Monica Lewinsky. He was her boss, she wasn't just a consenting random adult. There are elements of coercion inherent in a power dynamic like that.
More than one thing can be bad at a time.
how_we_burned@lemmy.zip · 9 pts · 203d
How about you take all of 10s to find out what Monica Lewinsky actually said about Clinton.
Monica Lewinsky has consistently said that her relationship with Bill Clinton was consensual.
Although she has described it as inappropriate and shaped by a significant power imbalance, she has, however not claimed that he coerced.
Indeed in later interviews and writing, she has emphasized the issue of power dynamics between a president and a young intern, while still maintaining that the encounters themselves were consensual.
https://www.usmagazine.com/celebrity-news/news/everything-monica-lewinsky-said-about-bill-clinton-in-her-podcast/
In fact her life was fucked after the huge bullshit media fire storm the republicans stoked. She got basically black balled, no one would employ her (she said she had over to interviews, where no one would see her past her name)
https://www.today.com/news/monica-lewinsky-bill-clinton-affair-resignation-rcna193798
At no time had she ever felt like Clinton raped her.
So stop spreading shit that he didn't do. Shit I don't even like the Clinton's. I think Bill caused a huge amount of problems, especially, along Albright, killing hundreds of thousands of Iraq children and people in the 90s due to unnecessarily evil sanctions regime.
And HRC has so much to answer for herself and yet to date, despite huge amounts of effort by their enemies no one has found any evidence that Bill raped or coerced anyone.
Even the Epstein survivors have categorically stated that Bill Clinton did not touch them
vithigar@lemmy.ca · 3 pts · 203d
The thing I find odd about the argument that a power imbalance makes consent impossible is that would make it effectively impossible for any POTUS to have consensual relations except for maybe with other world leaders.
shawn1122@sh.itjust.works · 8 pts · 203d
The important point here is that the relationship occurred within the workplace. No one would care if it were just your run of the mill affair. He isn't the first president, nor is he the last, to have one of those.
ReluctantMuskrat@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 202d
Oh Republicans would have definitely cared if Clinton had an affair with anyone. They didn't care that Monica was an intern. They wanted to vilify a Democrat.
And honestly it is a big deal if any politician has an affair since it's then a huge vulnerability making them susceptible to coercion and blackmail.
Skullgrid@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 203d
And what? Have him be convicted of 200 more felonies, to add to the 34 he already has so he can walk away just like he did before?
WoodScientist@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 203d
Seriously. Imagine yourself in her shoes. You get this dream internship, literally working in the oval office. What a life-changing opportunity! Then the literal president of the United States, the man in complete control of the CIA, FBI, and the most powerful military on Earth, a man who could probably have you disappeared if he wanted to. That man drops his pants and asks you to suck his dick.
Nightmare fuel.
Asidonhopo@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 203d
You are sexistly presuming she wasnt the one pursuing him aggressively. She herself said it was consensual I dont know how much more proof you need.

How is he so bad at delivering this news? Don't they have anyone better at this?!
xSikes@feddit.online · 12 pts · 203d
That’s one of the many problems people in America focus on way too much. It shouldn’t matter how he’s delivering it. That’s too emotional, this is logical. Stick. To. The. Message. Stick. To. The. Facts.
bigfish@lemmy.dbzer0.com · 1 pts · 203d
100% the facts should be all that matter, but clearly (after seeing the success of the facts-optional Republican party) how it's delivered matters too. A bad delivery gives people an attack angle..
Fedizen@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 203d
I don't think it has anything to do with the angle, it has everything to do with like republicans buying up radio like 50 years ago then buying up TV in the 90s, and all the tech bros and social media aligning with republicans in 2020.
If you can fully engulf people in your alternate reality echo chamber for long enough it just becomes true. And in order to create fact-free reality you need to deeply hate the people you're lying to. Republican leaning dems often support this structure by meeting the lies half way.
The way to beat this is to make these media companies expensive and useless. To use power to break them up into local outlets or expose them to financial risk for misleading people. And the way to get that power is to find real problems media is steering people away from and addressing those problems.
xSikes@feddit.online · 1 pts · 203d
Angle, no. Delivery, yes. It needs to be explained 2-3 times in different ways so that people with different understandings can follow and learn to expand what’s is happening and the cause of it. Like a good teacher going in and out from multiple points of view

Imagine Schumer or jefferies coming out with this?
Geobloke@aussie.zone · 0 pts · 203d
Look, anyone who thinks he's a paedo or not won't change their mind. This does nothing except move a line in the sand.
You'll note that Trump isn't threatening to sue him like he's did with Murdoch
how_we_burned@lemmy.zip · 1 pts · 203d
Words matter. For the last 10 years Democrats have pussy footed around with calling Trump out and yet when they finally do you claim that it won't do anything.
Considering how shit Trumps rating is I'd argue that it's doing something.
