I think it sounds wrong because the letter "U" is pronounced "yew", and y is not a vowel. You would never say 'an yurt' or 'an yogurt'. If it was prounced "oo", then "an oo F O" would sound correct.

It's correct when written because acronyms are representing the words they abriviate. In this case an unidentified object. If you where to speak the acronym than just "a" is correct because you are saying the letter "U" not the word "unidentified". Does that make sense? Different rules for written and spoken.
Back around... 2020 or so we had a release of files that were basically 'There are some weird flying things and we have no clue what they were'. After that we had that some coverage a few years back confirming that all of that led to 'No definite evidence of aliens' but I feel like I remember just last year we had a congressional hearing with some guy who worked for the DoD saying Aliens did exist and we had captured some of those UAPs. Edit: though also, there's nothing in Christianity that I know of that says aliens can't exist. New crazy conspiracy theory: we're being quietly targeted for extermination by a hostile alien species.

The government says they're going to release info on UFOs. This caused a brief flury of interest from the general public which is reinforced by the conspiracy theorists who swear that this will finally be proof of little green men at area 51, or whatever.
The government takes a while to follow through, during which time the general public slowly loses interest. The conspiracy theorists start getting impatient and publicly worrying that there must be a faction within the government that's deliberately slow walking the release or even modifying the documents because they don't want The Truth to get out.
The documents are finally released. They consist of 99% dry, beauracratic paperwork and 0% admissions that aliens have every visited earth, but the conspiracy theorists dig through and pull out a few scraps that can be spun to make a good headline.
The nation spends at most a week talking about "video taken out the window of a fighter jet of a mysterious floating orb thats porobably just a balloon" #27, or "eye witness account from a sleep deprived 18 year old soldier who swears he saw an alien space ship while on guard duty at 2am" #382.
The national news cycle moves on, and most people promptly forget about the whole thing. Meanwhile, the conspiracy theorists take whatever scraps they were able to find and add these to their rotating library of bullshit to talk about. The initial promise that this was going to be irrefutable proof that aliens have visited earth is quietly forgotten. If it ever does come up, they blame that shadowy faction of the government which must have succeeded in watering down the release before publishing it.
C'mon powerful money pedo's. Enough is enough. Let's mea culpa this crap and wipe this ludicrous stain from our collective world history and move on to better days ahead. This dark shit should stop immediately. All it takes is one domino. Come clean. I think a big part of it is that people realized that aliens somehow only visit the united States. And then mainly the redneck states. Then people got curious again when, again, american pilots saw a bunch of aliens and they released the footage and it was... Mate, that's a bit of dust or a bird, that is just close to the camera, therefore it appears to move really fast. Glad they got the best of the best on it. Also the whole Bob Lazar shit. There's also the suspicious fact that alien photos/videos bacome less frequent now that everyone carries a camera everywhere. You know what kind of footage is now a LOT more frequent? Meteors. Last year there's been the first meteor impact captured on video with sound.

What's there to be excited about? There's no reason to believe aliens ever visited earth. Exist somewhere in the universe, sure. I'm very excited for any news from observations in space or the mars rover finding signs of life, but not on earth.
Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence, and so far, all we've had are som shitty low resolution videos which very well might have been either video artifacts, atmospheric natural phenomena, or just experimental weapons.

As a Californian, it's not just the DoE, especially on a scale of decades. My girlfriend went to public school in Texas and had shit like iPads and a lunch cafeteria with actual restaurants. I went to public school in California, mostly (entirely?) after it was gutted by the Governator, and had shit like textbooks shared across classes with swastikas and 8=D drawn all over the pages and a lunch cafeteria that served frozen pizzas microwaved in the plastic and frozen milk that still had ice-chunks in it.

Don't worry, only rich communities' public school were/ are like that in Texas. Schools are funded at the district-level in Texas, so poor communities go to poor schools and wealthy kids go to wealthy schools. If districts get so big that they encompass both, sometimes the wealthy residents try to stage a coup and split the district into wealthy and poor.

I think it sounds wrong because the letter "U" is pronounced "yew", and y is not a vowel. You would never say 'an yurt' or 'an yogurt'. If it was prounced "oo", then "an oo F O" would sound correct.
But as it is, it just sounds wrong. And whether technically correct or not, I reject it!

It's correct when written because acronyms are representing the words they abriviate. In this case an unidentified object. If you where to speak the acronym than just "a" is correct because you are saying the letter "U" not the word "unidentified". Does that make sense? Different rules for written and spoken.

Back around... 2020 or so we had a release of files that were basically 'There are some weird flying things and we have no clue what they were'. After that we had that some coverage a few years back confirming that all of that led to 'No definite evidence of aliens' but I feel like I remember just last year we had a congressional hearing with some guy who worked for the DoD saying Aliens did exist and we had captured some of those UAPs. However, then again... I do think said guy who was most vocal on those hearings had a book he was trying real hard to sell.
Who wants to take the bet that Trump is going to take a financial interest in some guy selling books on this and prop him up as 'the' expert.

They don't gaf about religion beyond the tribal shit and that it gives them a way to act better than those who disagree with them and appeal to an authority that will never contradict them.
Edit: though also, there's nothing in Christianity that I know of that says aliens can't exist. The catholic church at least has stopped trying to oppose science, though still hasn't recovered from the ink they got on their face regarding Galileo, but that was more about the worshop of Aristotle than anything directly related to the religion itself. The whole "the world is only 6k years old and fossils were placed there to test our faith!" isn't supported by the catholic church. Not to defend them, "believes in science" is still a low bar.

I don’t think this is like official doctrine, but it seems to be the most common attitude I’m finding.
As far as Protestants: the flat earth types might be against aliens because that goes against their everything. I’m really only talking your KJV-onliest or freaky Pentecostal teetering into cult types that would think aliens were literal demons.
But I think most fundies would probably be fine with aliens if they were allowed to proselytize to them, and most mainline Christian churches would be fine with aliens existing.

New crazy conspiracy theory: we're being quietly targeted for extermination by a hostile alien species.
They could wipe us out in an afternoon if they wanted to, but they can't just come right in and bomb us from orbit, as that would cause an interstellar relations incident, maybe mass unrest back home. But they also want us gone. We gotta go because we're an advancing young species, near their territory, and are a potential future problem. We're not dealing with an alien army attacking us; we're dealing with an alien equivalent of the CIA. They're here to do the dirty work quietly.
They know species at our level often run headfirst into environmental catastrophes as their technology becomes great enough to threaten the planet they live on. Instead of helping us, however, they're throwing gasoline on the fire. They've brainwashed/replaced with clones the world's wealthiest and most powerful people. And when we eventually do burn ourselves alive in a climate Armageddon, the aliens will run news stories, lamenting the tragic tale of a poor primitive planet that couldn't right its ways in time. No threat of war between great interstellar powers. No mass protests movements back on the homeworld. Just a potential future rival nipped in the bud, no muss, no fuss. Mass murder dressed up as death by natural causes.

While the victims need to be protected, that's not what Trump and the DOJ did. Rather than out the perpetrators and protect the victims, they outed the victims and are protecting the perpetrators. All because the people protecting the perpetrators, the perpetrators, and the officials in charge of this are all the same people. So yeah they already crossed that bridge backwards without shoes.
