Trump names Erika Kirk to key advisory board of US Air Force Academy

https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2026/mar/10/erika-kirk-board-us-air-force-academy

“Erika Kirk will continue his legacy, and will be a fearless advocate for the most elite airpower force in the history of the world whose warriors keep our nation safe, strong and free.”

Do you think Erika Kirk could even describe to you how airplanes fly with a basic grade school explanation?

Getting hep c and being discharged with 1 week of boot camp left seemed like a curse when I was 21...but now that I have seen all the bullshit Trump is doing...at 33 I can say thank God for hep c.

massive_bereavement@fedia.io · 4 pts · 163d (2 replies)

Well, in your case is the "state fair carnival ride that was on the evening news"-kind of swinging and roundingabout.

You know, the kind of a ride that you know at least three people that broke their elbows and somehow makes your cousin twitch every time he hears a pneumatic brake.

That made me chuckle, thanks friend.. I was having a mood swing, and ya put a smile on my face.

It was definitely a funny way for the universe to save my ass. Took the wind outta my sails though. I wanted to serve since I was a wee lad. But I'm a different man now.

I was considering going into the army, in 2001, after the election, I figured the leadership would get us into a war I would not want to be involved in. Nailed it.

I have known a lot of people with hep c, all the older junkies from generations prior to mine had it it seemed, I used to have junkie roommates which ended very predictably, with them stealing my shit and selling it for pennies on the dollar. But some of their junkie acquaintances were ok, they were like in their 50's and still doing fine, they just couldn't drink much if at all and idk what else. Opiates for all of their faults don't harm any organ systems.

Salamanderwizard@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 162d (2 replies)

Yep. The thing for me is I was straight edge till I was discharged. I had wanted to serve since I was like 6 yrs old, and I kept myself out of trouble. I never knew how I got it. I will say, my mother got tested after I had called her from Paris Island and told her. She had it. My dad, however, refused to get tested.

wesdym@mastodon.social · 1 pts · 162d (1 reply)

@Salamanderwizard There's a popular myth, especially among moralist conservatives, that you have to have done something they'd disapprove of to catch it. You don't. It's enough if, say, your dentist's hygeinist wasn't thorough enough, or if you used someone else's razor. The vector of transmission is unknown in fully 1:5 cases. Meaning, so far as we know right now, just about anyone can get it, no matter who they are or what they do (or don't do).

Salamanderwizard@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 162d

Huh, really. That's actually nice. Lots.of folks treated me like I was druggie when they found out I had it. It sucked. I smoke my pot that's it. But even before that I didn't touch weed till I was 22 or so. It wasn't until I was discharged.

Hey it could be a DUI hire like others too...I don't know much about her if that could be accurate but if she's going with that ship she's a fucking douche. No one with any sense of morality would ever accept a position from them.

Funny how apparently all the 'christian/godly' (outspoken ones) types are attaching themselves to the apparent anti Christ. Well probably not literally but the description fits 1:1 and I'm an atheist but I think the Bible had a good description of that charlaton.

I recall reading some old philosopher and they described the worst person, it was Trump. I could never find it again forget but it was Plato or Aristotle I think. There have always been those types in all of history. Somehow the US was hoodwinked into actually giving him power, rather than run him off like the snake oil salesmen he is.

BigDaddySlim@lemmy.world · 8 pts · 163d (2 replies)

I'm not religious either, but I'm aware of the core principles of Christianity. Trump is the embodiment of greed, and goes heavily against what the Bible teaches, look no further than "love thy neighbor." He actively goes against that core principle daily. I'm sure someone has done a full write up of all the things trump has done that's against the Bibles teachings, yet these Bible loving """Christians""" swear he's the second coming of Jesus and was appointed by god.

It's a cult, plain and simple. Christians follow him because a good amount of them are conservative, because their believe is only surface level. It's only faith when it's convenient and "against gods wishes or whatever" when it's against their conservative beliefs.

Christians that belive trump is the greatest and sent to us by god haven't read the same fucking book they're constantly quoting, they're hypocrites and traitors to themselves and their supposed beliefs. He is in fact the antichrist according to these people's own book.

This is the true Trump Derangement Syndrome, because once again, every accusation is a confession of the Repulikkkan party.

skulblaka@sh.itjust.works · 3 pts · 162d (1 reply)

"Could American Evangelicals spot the Antichrist?"

The answer is, resoundingly: no, they cannot, despite having an entire Where's Waldo-esque guide to spotting him listed in their holy book that they love to claim to have read.

I'm an atheist (reading the Bible critically will do that to you); and even I readily recognize that Trump, and men just like him, were explicitly called out and warned against in Revelations, among other chapters.

tover153@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 162d

You've missed the point, they KNOW he's the antichrist. They need him to be to get to heaven without actually dying. I'm the child of old conservative evangelical christian ministers, and I can tell you at 80+ they are more terrified of dying that any other single thing.

Nothing of real value is given value by this administration. Only money and hoarding it matter, and nakedly so. They're literally citing greed as why starting a war is ok. Stop. It's 2026, we don't need to do this sex shaming bullshit anymore. Giving blowjobs doesn't make you a bad person. Being good at blowjobs doesn't make you a bad person. Don't lump Erika fucking Kirk in with people who are simply good at blowjobs. Erika Kirk is a bad person because she's profiting off of her husband's death. Erika Kirk is a bad person because she's continuing her husband's legacy of hate and bigotry. Blowjobs have nothing to do with it, and you're muddying the waters by making that the focus.

Ibuthyr@feddit.org · 7 pts · 163d

This. If anything, blowjobs should be encouraged. Because they're nice.

Avicenna@programming.dev · 1 pts · 163d (3 replies)

Much as I agree with this post, I don't think emphasis here is on blowjob but on doing sexual favours to increase your influence. Also not claiming that it is right, though I agree she clearly seems to be enjoying the influence her husband's death provided to her.

zalgotext@sh.itjust.works · 2 pts · 163d (2 replies)

The original comment is putting "performs oral sex" in the same moral category as "uses dead husband's bigoted beliefs and influence to put herself in positions of power in an authoritarian government". That's asinine. I don't feel the need to tolerate such stupid opinions. Sex work is real work, and performing sex acts between consenting adults is not immoral.

Avicenna@programming.dev · 1 pts · 162d (1 reply)

I agree that sex work is real work and sex between consenting adults is always moral. However performing sexual favours to obtain something that you don't deserve (for instance a position that should be given based on other merit) is immoral, not because of the sex but because of a reason not so dissimilar to nepotism. Our situation here is akin to me saying "nepotism is bad" and you saying "but looking after your relatives is not immoral". Again I don't know why "blowjob" was chosen there specifically, presumably because of all the gossip about Trump and blowjobs that have been circulating since day one, but at least on my end I did not focus on that aspect. And again I am not at all claiming that Erika has done anything of the sort which I guess is besides the point I am trying to make here.

zalgotext@sh.itjust.works · 1 pts · 162d

Implying that a woman has obtained a position of power by performing a sex act is misogynist. Implying that Erika Kirk obtained her new position by performing a sex act distracts from the actual facts: she's using her husband's death and influence to obtain power. I appreciate the nuance you're trying to bring to the conversation, but you're sort of falling into the trap the original commenter laid - you're letting yourself get distracted from the fact that Erika Kirk is terrible because she's an evil human being, not because she's a woman who may or may not perform sex acts.

LifeInMultipleChoice@lemmy.world · 13 pts · 163d

Never met the woman but this feels like a comment copy and pasted from a trove of remarks showing just how sexist an online community is.
