Patient was having a heart attack. Um... why does he have a hole in his throat?

BigDanishGuy@sh.itjust.works · 20 pts · 65d (1 reply)

Why would you ask me? I ain't a doctor. Anyway I'd better be going now...

EddoWagt@feddit.nl · 23 pts · 65d

Gets back in airplane seat

as long as it's under 3 inches it's allowed

nialv7@lemmy.world · 18 pts · 66d (20 replies)

Isn't that the plot of the good doctor? (I have never watched it)

apex32@lemmy.world · 28 pts · 65d (19 replies)

No. The Good Doctor is about an autistic doctor. He is incredibly knowledgeable, but has issues talking with patients and working with others.

Jax@sh.itjust.works · 22 pts · 65d

autistic

TV autistic, where autism is a super power

Digestive_Biscuit@feddit.uk · 9 pts · 65d

Episode 1 has a scene similar to this.

garbagebagel@lemmy.world · 4 pts · 65d (6 replies)

Isn't that just House?

TheFlopster@lemmy.world · 16 pts · 65d (5 replies)

House isn't autistic. He's brilliant, but in constant pain and taking it out on anyone and everyone around him.

Viking_Hippie@lemmy.dbzer0.com · 12 pts · 65d

You mean to say that autism ISN'T the same thing as malignant narcissism compounded by drug addiction and being brilliant enough to be surrounded by enablers?! 🀯

Grail@multiverse.soulism.net · 9 pts · 65d (3 replies)

People can have comorbidities. I think House has chronic pain, autism, and NPD.

DmMacniel@feddit.org · 17 pts · 65d (2 replies)

But one is for sure, he doesn't have lupus.

tempest@lemmy.ca · 6 pts · 65d

No but the patient did that one time

a_non_monotonic_function@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 65d

I don't remember the show ever officially ruling that out.

Simulation6@sopuli.xyz · 1 pts · 65d (1 reply)

Almost the same plot as Extraordinary attorney Woo.

chuckleslord@lemmy.world · 0 pts · 65d

Yes, it's based on another Korean show (called Good Doctor). It was actor Daniel Dae Kim who helped bring the show to America. He is also the actor Freddie Highmore played opposite in the now infamous "I am a surgeon" scene.

Viking_Hippie@lemmy.dbzer0.com · 1 pts · 65d (7 replies)

Also, isn't he 14 years old or thereabouts?

chuckleslord@lemmy.world · 6 pts · 65d (6 replies)

No, he's an adult who went to medical school at the usual time.

There are frequent flashbacks to his traumatic as fuck childhood, but he's an adult doctor.

Viking_Hippie@lemmy.dbzer0.com · 3 pts · 65d (5 replies)

Ah ok, must have confused it with another show I saw a trailer of, then 🀷🏻

fibojoly@sh.itjust.works · 4 pts · 65d (3 replies)

You re thinking of Doogie Howser, M.D. perhaps?

Viking_Hippie@lemmy.dbzer0.com · 4 pts · 65d (2 replies)

Nah, that's from before my time but also stars NPH so I wouldn't confuse it with anything NOT starring Dr Horrible 😁

Mesophar@pawb.social · 3 pts · 65d

This appeared as a moral dilemma

chuckleslord@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 65d

In your defense, Freddie Highmore looked very young in the first season. Made especially egregious cause he played a young autistic man who didn't know how to mask. It made him read as much younger than he is.

Confidence is 99% of the solution!

fibojoly@sh.itjust.works · 11 pts · 65d

Beautiful can-do attitude!

McGyver would have used a chewing gum but I award your effort with a pancake.

Katana314@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 65d

I use the pancake to seal the wound!

Sure, he’s dead, but we can at least get started on a nice-ish embalming.

Proprietary_Blend@lemmy.world · 9 pts · 65d (1 reply)

The first step in an operation of this type is...

...to shave the patient.

"I'm a doctor."

"Aren't you going to help?"

"Well, I'm a doctor of archeology so I can't do much until after he dies."

garbagehead@lemmy.ca · 3 pts · 65d

Get your Ed D in education, anyone can get that with two years of easy work. Edited to call you Future Doctor.

Hozerkiller@lemmy.ca · 2 pts · 65d

"This man is having a heart attack is anyone a doctor?" "I am." "Can you save him?" "Oh no, I'm a doctor in integrative dance."
